IT IS REALLLY GREAT TO SEE YOU TWO HAVE STARTED THE KEY 4 DISCUSSION! YOU BOTH ARE GREAT AT THIS!

I AM READING KEY 4 NOW AND GATHERING MY THOUGHTS ON IT. I RETOOK THE AUDIT AND NOTICE I HAVE SHAVED A COUPLE OF MY BAD BEHAVIORS SINCE I TOOK IT LAST. HURRAY!! THE NIGHT TIME EATING IS MY DOWNFALL! BUT! I HAVE FIGURED OUT THAT SINCE I STAY UP TILL 1 AM MOST NIGHTS I SAVE ONE OF MY SNACKS FOR ABOUT 11. I DON'T OVER EAT IN THE EVENINGS ANY MORE, BUT I DO USUALLY EAT MY YOGURT OR FRUIT LATE AT NIGHT!

I STILL CLEAN MY PLATE BUT SINCE MY PORTION CONTROL IS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAT'S NOT SO BAD.

KIT I AM GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER SO I AM ASSUMING YOUR DATE IS A NITE AT THE CAR RACES. HAVE FUN!

SHARI GLAD TO SEE YOU HERE..CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING BACK ON TRACK TOO!

I WILL GO BACK AND READ SOME MORE AND POST AGAIN LATER!

SEE YA THEN!!!

BECKY

Gf it is great to be back and feeling like me again....

You know I love discussions and this one is a real wakeup call for most people...

We all have to get back on track and get it moving....drink our water as Kitty would always remind us...

Mastering ourself is the first step of Mastery over Food and once that is mastered so is the binge eating...

My suggestion is to make a list of what is bugging you....be truthful with this list...even little things...

Then go back and find the Fix for the things that bug you...find out if they are the things that keep causing you to binge......be honest with you...

Hey Barbara

Quote From: brcscc

Just got a minute before I leave for work.

Welcome back Shari, so good to see you here.

Kit and Becky, Vicky and Deb, Andiepie, hi to all.  Hope I haven't missed anyone, if I did it's not intentional.

Key #4 discussion for tomorrow and all weekend sounds great.  I have really been going over this one and am ashamed I've been so remiss in my efforts.  But am working hard on getting it right once again.

Take care,

ttfn Love Barbara

Nice to see you again....I hope to be around for a while this time...

Key #4

"People do what works"....... "you choose to keep doing the behavior because, at some level, it works for you.  At some level it pays off for you, it generates some value for you, or you wouldn't do it."

I always had a problem with what he was trying to tell me and I'd keep questioning myself about this and finally almost 2 years later I figured out what it meant for me.

It works for me because I don't need to plug into real life.  I have always hid behind my weight, used for excuse not to have to do things, the bigger I got the more reason to say, I can't.  But you know what , life is passing me by and at 51 I want to live.

I need to really work this key and stop behaving my way into keeping this weight on.

Hope to get back this weekend with more on this key.

Take care,

ttfn Love Barbara

Key 4

Well, Nanneybeck said you had a great pow wow going on here regarding key 4. I'll be reading that again however, I can tell you I've probably read key 4 at least 3 to 4 times since January and I do believe it's time again to review.  I know I am definitely in much more control then in January.

Alternative behaviors can help you get out of a touchy situation. I was thinking about the Fly Lady site and thought about some areas that need straightening up. Closets and drawers. So just yesterday I thought even if I give away 2 to 10 items that's better then nothing. Well heck I wound up finding two big bags of clothes between mine and my son's room. That felt so good to get into the car and drop them off to Goodwill. Next time I'm having those cravings for something, I'm working on another closet and driving that stuff to a different non-profit location. Bit by bit, my house will get organized and I won't be thinking about food!!!! ((((((winking))))))))

IF I MADE A LIST OF WHAT IS BUGGING ME, I NEED TO GO BUY A ROLL OF PAPER!

BUT THE MAIN THING THATS BUGGING ME THESE DAYS IS MY NEGATIVE HUSBAND. HE IS NOT WELL BUT HE DWELLS ON IT CONSTANTLY AND ALWAYS TALKS ABOUT HOW BAD HE FEELS. FOR A CHRISTAIN MAN WHO PRAYS FOR EVERYBODY ELSE I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE CAN'T PRAY FOR HIMSELF AND HAVE FAITH THAT GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF HIM.  HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY AND I GUESS IT BOTHERS ME MORE NOW BECAUSE I FEEL SO GOOD. AND IT'S REALLY HARD TO BE COMPASIONATE.

WELL, I REALLY DIDNT MEAN TO WRITE THIS DOWN BUT I GUESS IT JUST HAPPENED. SORRY!

SO NOW I AM LOOKING FOR A FIX FOR THIS! I KNOW I CAN'T FIX DH BUT I NEED TO FIX ME SO THAT IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME SO MUCH! THE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS PROGRAM IS THAT THESE DAYS A BINGE IS 3 SMALL OVERRIPE BANANAS THAT I TOLD MYSELF DIDN'T NEED TO GO TO WASTE! BUT THAT'S UNACCEPTIBLE TOO! THEY STILL WERE WASTED!

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE! I AM REALLY GLAD TO SEE THESE WONDERFUL MESSAGES FROM YOU WONDERFUL WOMEN!

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing what changes they need to make with Key #4.  Don't forget to work each day with the other keys too!  That chart does not have to be used for just the Low-Response Cost, Low-Yield Foods, it also applies to the High-Response Cost, High-Yield Foods too!  For example those Bananas that Becky mentioned and they sounds so good.  They are 109 calories a piece so if you ate three extra portions that week, you would have consumed 327 extra calories and over a year that would add up to 17,004 calories added by just allowing yourself to consume a small snack extra once a week.  I know that kind of mindless or out of control consumption would add a few extra pounds.  How much do you police yourself over this?  I got this way by eating larger portions, so to me, this kind of mindless eating and making up an excuse for eating it does not cut it!  That is why I Journal.  If I take time to plan a menu and I stick to it then I should continue to loose this weight that I put on by being careless.  I don't want to be careless anymore.  It does not work for me.  I am not in a race or competetion to loose this weight but I need to understand that this carelessness has cost me about 3 years of doing a weight loss program and getting it in place to become a lifestyle that will keep the weight off.  I can see now how I got this way by reading what others post that they have done to either put on the weight or now take it off.  At first this seemed doable and reasonable.  But it is up to me to make that difference and make it happen!  Hang in there Becky and the others who slide backwards.  Write down you you felt as you made an error in judgement and by reviewing both the serious and humorous side of your Journals, you will be able to make this lifestyle change.  I know we all can do it!

Becky

Yep that HOT Date last night was a night in the rain at the race track!  The program was hurried along and we sat in the sprinkles a few times.  We watched all the classes race and were home early!  We only have 3 more weeks left to the race season and then I will have more time to be on the computer on Friday nights.  Sorry your hubby is going thru a rough time and both of you are frustrated.  Think positive and try to understand how frustrated he is and do your best to deal with that frustration, so you don't allow it to get you down.  Think positive!  I can tell you that a hubby that has a hobby makes it easier on everyone.  If he can not think of a hobby,  then put your extra thoughts into one for yourself.  Work on that Scrapbook/Photo album.  I take my frustrations out on my home and garden...no longer with food and on my heallth and body.  Exercise has really helped me to channel energy into a positive outcome!  I agree with what you said walking and prayer are very compatible.  It is time for all of us to walk more and think more and something positive will come out of that activity in more ways than one!

Always work those keys..it will make that difference and make it happen!

Taking orders of rolls of paper!

Becky I will send you that first roll of paper for that list of things that are bugging you!  Your not alone we all could sit down and fill a few rolls.  Have you seen my Journal lately? LOL

One quick benefit to my lists laying around and my Journal.  I keep a running list of groceries I need from the store and that has really kept the pantry stocked the past few years.  I also made a list of things that I want to do around the house and jot down ideas I see on TV that I might consider for a color combo for a room or that the lock on the window needs repaired.  Guess who is starting to use my lists!  He might be too lazy to make his own or admit that his memory is not as good as it used to be.  But my lists are having a positive effect on our household and lifestyle.  Change is slow!

For the most part I was in that same mind set....

I was the Mom that would say yes as long as it didn't inclue any extra movement on my part and if it included lots of food.

I have alway been on some DIET or another I lost mega amounts of weight and I put it all on again.

Like you it was easier to hide than take care of me....make me healthy was not in the stars...

Well that has all changed....I know what I want, I am determined to get it and keep it...HEALTH FOR ME...

Even with health issues you need to commit to YOU...no one else...for no other reason than to get your health inorder...Being over 50 and over weight is not a pretty place to be...but it is not an impossible place to be either...it just takes more work and more determination.....you have people on these boards that want you to want to succeed, but you have to want that for yourself first.
