(Original Air Date: 03/02/07) Do you live on the edge without thinking about the consequences? Dr. Phil's first guest made headlines across America. Crowned Miss Nevada in October 2006, Katie Rees was dethroned two months later when pictures of her in compromising positions surfaced. Why does she say her punishment was unfair? Then, David admits that he used to sneak out of the house in the middle of the night to have sex with another woman while his wife, Sara, slept. He got away with it for a while, until Sara woke up and went knocking on the other woman's door, catching David with his pants down. Should Sara give David another chance, or is David not ready to make a change? Dr. Phil has some tough questions for him. And, Kendra, 26, has been shoplifting since she was 9 years old. She's been to jail once and is currently on probation, but says she just can't stop stealing. You won't believe who taught her how to do this! Dr. Phil has a strong warning for this mother of three. 03/02 Caught in the Act

Quote From: auburngirl

I think the easiest way to answer whether to trust a cheater not to cheat again or not is to know the answer to why it happened. For example if he has self esteem problems and has filled that gap with the this affair then there has to be something else that helps him start to deal with those feelings for him not to go there again. Is it a lack of respect for your bond or for you? I think that could be the worst answer because its speaks of a persons true character which few people truly change. I think basically cause and efffect determine a repeat, and BTW a broken home can easily hold two parents, Best wishes I hope all turns out positive for you.

This guy cheated because he WANTED to.  There is nothing complicated about it.  I don't believe him for a moment.  I frequently do think cheaters are redeemable, but not in his case.

03/02 Caught in the Act

Let me get this straight...

Ms. Nevada or Ms. USA gets thrown out for having pictures of her boobs but she gets praised if she takes the offers from Playboy and Girls Gone Wild?

That's disgustingly messed up.

They shouldn't reveal themselves regardless. Have some class!

beauty queen Kelly thinks she should be able to live in the "Hilton Style of celebrity ok's".  She joined a pagent created to role model & signed papers to affirm it.  Imagine every pagent queen could go crazy stupid and then get another chance when you get caught.  Your supposed to have the personality to do the right thing at the get go.  Cause another was saved dosen't make your plight unfair.  You screwed up!!  BE A ROLE MODEL AN TAKE YOUR LOSS WITH DIGNITY AND LET OTHERS KNOW THERE IS A RIGHT WAY TO LIVE.  IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED, AND INSTEAD YOU ARE CRYING THAT IT WASN'T SO BAD.    Joe

The Cat's Probably Smarter & Got More Talent!

Quote From: gwarrior6

I don't mean to be crass, but I don't think that Miss Nevada is all that pretty.  Anyone can go get breast implants, spray on tans, bleach their hair and wear revealing clothes.  Whoppee.  I have a cat that's good looking too...and useless to boot.  It seems unfair to perpetuate the mantra that the only worthy women in society live on heroin and ex lax.  I'm 5 foot 11, weigh a scale -tipping 142, and some modeling people still tell me I'm too fat (at which point, I tell them where to put their wt requirement)!  Urg...(me venting).

It can probably play a mean "Chopsticks" on the piano...LOL

"Whoopee," indeed! I concur w/both you & mrs kida (and others on these boards) about the ridiculous stereotypes perpetuated by pageants, the magazines, and the supermodel mystique. My WYSIWYG point in my orig. post was that at least porn does not pretend to be about anything besides T & A (albeit "dolled-up and fake," I won't argue that one), whereas these pageants attempt to throw a cloak of pseudo-respectability over themselves by paying lip service to talent and poise.

(me venting) I'm considerably shorter than you; I'd like to tell those modeling folks where they can put their height expectations!

Miss America

Quote From: penny_lady

It's not like she's posing nude on stage at the pageant..LOL

I agree with her removal because she broke the rules...but the rules are dumb. Let's face it people, the Miss America and state pageants are just pretty contests. They're shallow and demean women at least as much as porn does.
I agree with your opinion about this woman being disqualified and I do so for the same reason.  To me, Miss America etc are more demeaning to women in a sense.  At least there is no pretense about porn.  Miss America takes a stereotype of "beauty" and tries to mold the women into June Cleavers with pudding for brains.

In this day and age with the internet, yes it is.  And I don't really see what's funny.

It's just nudity.  Get over it.

Constant - Sad But True

Quote From: penny_lady

I gotta say I agree with you here.  When I was in high school (10-14 years ago) I remember that "pretty" was very very different.  It's just so obvious that pretty is just what ever fashion dictates.

I have noticed that in the last 5 years or so "beauty" has become very  "porn star" looking...fake breasts, over done hair, deep unhealthy looking tans...and this seems to have gone along with the rise in internet pornography.  When I pointed this out to my husband he said he noticed it too.

This trend will pass and another one will take it's place...

(That being said, I don't care about it either way. The one constant in the beauty trends is women are reduced to looks. Not just by men but by each other.)

"...women are reduced to looks. Not just by men but by each other."

So are men, especially by women, but to a much lesser extent. A few years ago (maybe more like 12 or 15), I seem to remember a news report about a study (I forget the particulars, such as what institution, # of subjects surveyed, etc.) that suggested, in so many words, that the more "beautiful people," both men and women, were more successful in their chosen fields and were more likely to be in happy marriages than were the "plain Janes (and Johns)."

Granted, my frame of reference for "beauty" is about 15 years behind yours & gwarrior6's, but I was not impressed by the de-throned Miss Nevada either...I can't either concur or take issue with the Internet porn -- porn-star beauty standard link b/c I watch so little TV and read so few mags that I don't have sufficient data to make a comparison...interesting thought, though!

I'm not sure about the lawyer

My opinion is probably clouded by the fact that David IS a lawyer. I'm not convinced that the laughter is related to being nervous.(or however he succinctly explained it) I came away thinking that HE thinks he is God's gift to women.

What an attorney!

Have you ever heard someone stumble on their words as this guy. I thought attorneys could speak all languages..... Not Dr. Phils.....LOL

Go Dr. Phil

She should take him to the cleaners.

What a liar.

That is exactly it, thank you for wording it so well. Porn doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's just porn.

This pageant pretends to be wholesome and clean and good. When really it's the same thing, just add a yard or two of fabric.
