Wouldn't it be nice to form a group of friends, where religion doesn't matter, what size you are doesn't matter, what race you are is unimportant?  Where you can just be your TRUE self, no matter your income, your likes or dislikes.  A place where you can just "sit" and feel welcome.....and meet nice, down to earth, common sense folks.  Well, this is the place.

Let's make this an enjoyable chat board.  If you feel you have an "issue" with another member, please don't attack that person and use hurtful and hateful words, especially in front of other members.  Let's stay kind, like mature adults should do.   If an issue should arise, kindly ask that other member if you could share a word privately.  i.e...email or instant messaging.

Let's make this board a fun, free discussion on anything we so choose.  No debating, just sharing our thoughts and having good fun conversation about anything we want.  Good old fashioned front porch chatting!

Anyone welcome........

Amy

Hello, good mornin'...how is everyone today?

-Lisa :o)

I'm doing good, hope  all is well with you .  Not a whole lot going on here. Anna and I went to jazzercise to hang out, came home and ate some lunch and played around some. She's watching her shows now and here I am at the puter. :) Nothing planned really, just gonna finish up some cleaning and sorting through the basement rumble some and hang out with my girls and of course Madyson will be here shortly so I am sure the girls will decide to hang with her instead of the mommy,LOL

Have a super duper day everyone.

Hi Shirley

Quote From: iamme4me

Have been reading both your stories about your horrendous babysitting experiences and it is so sad when parents do not discipline their children and allow them to use such bad language.  Amy, the 2 year old saying to you "OK Nanny" when you told her what she said was not a nice word and she can't use it.........just goes to prove that all she needs is some discipline but if her parents aren't going to follow through it certainly doesn't help you.  Just hope that the next 2 weeks isn't too difficult for you.

Don't forget, we are here on the porch if you need to vent.  lol  lol

Hugs,

Shirley

Glad you dropped by. I am so tired, I could just fall asleep right here,LOL. Madyson is here tonight and doesn't leave til 11, it's going on 8 now, not so sure I can make it another 3 hours, I have a feeling I am gonna end up on the couch here in  bit,LOL.

I agree about the discipline thing, kids certainly do need and even want discipline/boundaries, it does work, it's too bad that there are some parents who just don't get it. It really hurts the kids in the long run. Parentng has enough challenges without adding more to it......

can I vent about myhubby as well,LOLLLLLLLLL. Man, he's worse then a kid, he came in and asked what we had for dinner and when I told him, he said, UKK! LOLLLLl I looked at him and told him to cook his own dinner,LOLLLL he ate the casserole and realized how good it was,LOLLL. He really doesn't complain like that, I know it wasn't his favorite meal, but it is mine,LOL and I fixed something I wanted for a change, so he chilled. Men really are like kids you know........................

Ok, got three girls to get to bed, theya re already a little late, may be back later, if I can keep my eyes open

taking a break from studying just did 2 hours straight and I am brain dead at the moment, lol.  Luckily it isn't as difficult as the last subject.

this board suddenly got hopping WTG Amy.  And you have your hands full with the babysitting, not sure I cold do that for so long anymore.

Nice to see all the pics, there are so many beautiful & adorable  children out there.  I can relate to your episode with yor son, my daughter was the one who was grounded on a routine basis, lol, luckily those days are long gone.  And my son is the total opposite.  i think I could count on 3 fingers how many times he has gotten grounded in his 11 years.  All I have to do is give the look and he "knows" my daughter just gave the same look back, lol.  I can joke about it now, but at the time very frustrating.  They are just like night & day.

My daughter has a boyfriend now for a little over a year, we like him but it took forever to get used to the situation.  I am Not for all this seriousness at such a young age, almost 17 and he is 19 and in the army.  Yet on the other hand cute to see at times as well.  I guess we were all there at some point.  She is doing well at school yet doesn't like the college she goes to and may change after the summer.

Well I better skidaddle,

take care everyone,

Lisa

Ps Shirley you remember the knuffel, amazing, you always were though!

LISA - Can't believe your daughter has a steady serious boyfriend as it just seems like yesterday when you were posting pictures of her going to a school dance and then you headed off to visit your parents in the U.S.   It is hard to believe that they grow up so fast.

Yes, LIsa, I remember the "knuffel".......don't think I will ever forget as when I think of you I think of knuffels.

Happy studying.

Knuffels,

Shirley

JETTA & ALL

Quote From: jettav

Well, I actually go to jazzercise to babysit so the parents can go exercise, don't want a real job, but hey, Anna gets playmates and I get money,LOL Sounds like a good deal to me. :) It does look like a lot of fun though which I need to try it out since I get it for free, I am just not so good at the arobic type stuff but there is some that I can manage. Gonna wait until after my next Dr. appointment though to sign up, gotta see how the blood pressure thing is going and all.

I used to go to jazzercise twice a week before I had my accident........I was 47 at the time and just loved it, and I weighed 136 lbs. too.   I am just reminiscing here gals.  lol  lol

I thought that I posted yesterday but can't find a single post........are my posts going to cyber space or what!

Am currently watching American Idol and then will later head off to bed to read.

Hugs,

Shirley

I'm here, I'm here Amy and Jetta

Quote From: jettav

Well, I suppose I had better get this body a movin now, after picking Amy up from school, we went to Dairy Queen and got some ice cream and now I think it is time to start working mine off, it sure was good. Have a great rest of the day every one, Amy don't party too hearty now,LOLLLL

Must have fallen asleep on the Front Porch in my rocker.   lol  lol      Won't let that happen again as I miss too much.

Am currently working very hard to get rid of my sweet cravings.  Nothing in my house that is sweet anymore.......just natural sweet like fruits.    Find that when I start eating some sweets I end up craving more and more so decided that it just has to STOP.    Will let you know how it goes.

Will be back on the Porch tomorrow.

Hugs,

Shirley

HI JETTA

Quote From: jettav

I fell asleep around 830 last nigth which is early for me,LOL. Of course I didn't really get a good sleep as  Madyson was here and I had to be a wake for her mom. But the rest did some good, she got here at 1030 which I was relieved, I soon went to bed and slept through the night, well at least until the dog came in whining casue he had to go out. :)

Not sure what we arill be doing through out the day today, Anna and I are headed  toward Jazzercise to play with kids, gotta go over to Krogers and check my blood pressure as I am suppose to be doing that twice a week until I go to the doctor  next qweek, but I have slacked off so gotta get it checked.

Will come hom and probealy will hang out until it's time to pick Amy from school. I'm sure if I ask the girls what they want to do, they will come up with all kinds of ideas,LOL they always do. it's just us today, no Madyson which Anna is a bit sad about but I'm not,LOL. The kid is great but I love just having time with my own family.

One more day, Amy and the kids will be gone. I can't beleive some parents, none of us are perfect but man, that dad is an example of bad parenting, he won't think it's funny when she tells him that when she gets  a boyfriend, but by then it may be a little too late for intervention.

Hope every one has a wonderful day, it's rainy here today but it's in the fifities so I am not gonna complain, certainly better then the cold we have had. gotta get a scootin here, be back later.

JETTA - Looks as if you and Amy both had early nights last night.

You were mentioning checking your blood pressure......are you on medication?  I have high blood pressure and have to take 3 pills........hopefully if I lose some weight  I can reduce the medication.

Is Madyson a little girl you babysit?  Not trying to be nosey just trying to get your children straight.  I always find it very interesting that a lot of people when choosing names for their children when they have more than one seem to stick to the same letter.  Think it is neat.  You have Amy and Anna.  My son's children are Jaime (girl) and Jackson.

Be happy you have rain, Jetta, as you don't have to shovel it......we are having quite a storm........snow, freezing rain for today and tomorrow.  A lot of areas around us are closing down their businesses for the day because of the weather.    I just went out and put my garbage out for tomorrow morning and I am chilled to the bone.

You have a great day.

Hugs,

Shirley

LISA

Quote From: jahluvs

Sometimes, it's just one of those things...give a kid something to do that they have interest in and the behavioral problems are significantly decreased. It's so hard to get to the bottom of a problem when there is NO discipline. It may very well be that that is the whole problem.

My son (diagnosed ADHD) has been defiant at times. My 13 yo. daughter hasn't been diagnosed, but I'm sure she has it too. It's just harder to diagnose in girls than boys...or so I've been told. She gets defiant, but not as bad as the lovely for whom you are caring. She's a real sweetheart, but at 13 she's developing her own opinions and views on things that she's not afraid to voice. I like that she's open...but sometimes I just have to "lay down the law" and tell her that I'm NOT going to argue with her...of course, she then insists that she's not arguing with me!!! LOL Uh, point made! LOL  Now, my 18 yo. has never been diagnosed either, but I'm sure she's got ADD...not so hyper this one, but gets a bit stir crazy every once in awhile. She was quite a handful when she was little...preschool age & grade school. I think she also has OCD, anxiety problems, and depression at times.

I have a theory that ADD/ADHD is genetic and that it may actually be a recessive gene. It seems that every child I encounter that has been diagnosed, or shows the classic symptoms, has parents with the same symptoms...both of them to some degree. I don't know what studies have shown, but I firmly believe this. My 3 children have different fathers, yet I see a degree of the problems in each of the fathers. None of the fathers have ever been diagnosed, and neither have I, but I KNOW I have it. I also suffer from depression, anxiety, and I think I have OCD as well...I've even suspected myself of being bipolar, but I just don't know enough about it. All of this on top of having POTS with all of it's crazy symptoms.

Don't ya just want to slap those parents sometimes!!!!? They just have no clue what they are doing to their childrens' futures. What kind of chance are those kids going to have without discipline...hell, look at society today. Look at how much it's changed just since we were kids. If I would've tried to pull some of the crap that kids get away with these days, my dad would've kicked my ass! Problem kids today have no respect or self-discipline. I blame the parents. LOL But seriously, it starts there. Now, granted, you sometimes have those kids whose parents did a good job, but somewhere along the line, the kid decides not to follow the rules of society. In those cases, it's not directly the parents' fault.

Oh geez, I'm babbling!!! Anyhoo, I'm not too terrible today...not really good either, but trying to get something done. At least I'm not on the couch!

Have fun at your formal tea party! That was a really good move, Amy...smart girl.

-Lisa :o)

LISA - I worked in the area of the hospital that dealt with people with depression, OCD, anxiety, etc.   The ADD/ADHD  was handled at a different center.

Google Bipolar......it used to be called manic depression.  Have never heard of POTS, what is it.

Knuffels,

Shirley
