Hi Trish
I posted a nice long post yesterday and I'm suprised that it isn't here today - I can't imagine why - unless my computer crashed  as I hit the post key. My husband and oldest son added a lot of new things to the computer over Christmas and ever sinse then it has been stalling out or crashing every few minutes. my hnusband will take a llook at it in a couple of days but until then I have to deal with it.

I wish I oculd remember what I wrote last night so I could write it again. but I can't.  I'm still dealing with this pneumonis aftermath that is taking so long to get out of my system.

Take Care,
Karen

I am sorry you are still not feeling well -- this winter (though the weather has been mild) has been tough on everyone with sicknesses and trying to get rid of them!  I hope you feel better soon!

I don't know what happened to your post but I did see it yesterday when I popped in yesterday but didn't have a chance to reply...I wonder what happened.

My ex boss (I had worked tax season doing office work, answering phones etc for 4 years til Kyle was born in 2001 and then I helped with tax paperwork and book keeping til Megan was born in 2003) called and asked for me to consider coming back this tax season.  It was tough to be on a work schedule with Chronic Fatigue but it only lasts 2 1/2 months and I rested during the day.  I accepted and Felicia will be watching Kyle and Megan until Daddy gets home.  If Daddy doesn't have time then I will do homework with Kyle in the morning before he goes to afternoon Kindergarten.  Daddy will put them both to bed before I come home as well as they will be fed but I am gonna try to make some meals on Saturday and Sunday so can be heated.  It will be interesting to see if I am missed or if the older two take some extra responsbilities! LOL

Good Luck!

Boy you are taking  on a task there aren't you!?  Thank goodness for the older kids. I worked part time on and off too when my kids were young, That was before I had any of these health problems, and it was still tiring at times.

The worst was when I was working full time (50 plus hours a week ) and the kids were in high school. Don't let anyone tell you that they demand less of you when they get older - not true. My husband would want to go to a movie on Friday nights and I would so often say - take the kids I've got to sleep.

I have been having a major chronic fatigue flair up this week. In a 24 hour period I slept a total of 19 hours. I tried to get up and get going and would end up on the couch sleeping again for a few hours. My husband had been on a business trip for 5 days and when he finally got back home all I could do was sleep. It turned really cold here in northern Calif this last week and by tomorrow night it is supposed to get as low as the 20's at night. Between the changing weather and my body continuing to heal from the pneumonia I think I'm just beat. Tomorrow I'm determined to go to lunch with some friends though. I need to get back out again. And tomorrow is a work day for me anyway so I have to be healthy.

Well I'm off to write my blog for tonight before going to bed. Take it easy.

and she told me only needs me to work 3 days cause she thought it would be too much for me so asked me to choice which three I wanted.  I choose Wednesdays (she asked me for this one cause she needs me that day), Thursdays (as have backup in friend Trish for babysitting if Felicia can't cause Trish goes to school Monday through Wednesday) and Saturdays (cause all day not just 4-8 so can get some more money sicne was expecting 20 hours and now would have 12 if did weekdays only so at least with Saturdays would be 16 hours).  I also told her if she can't get someone for other three days that I would do it cause it is okay with me and babysitters -- tired to stress that it is only 2 1/2 months to assure her I coudl do it so will see what happens...whether she can hire someone else or not.  Either I start Wednesday January 31st if working three days or I start January 29th if working all 6 (was only expecting 5 but Saturdays were added on the year before last which I didn't realize since weren't when I worked last time!)

Hi!

I feel like I am in slow motion today...I got my TOM overnight and I just can't wake up!  It always makes my CFS symptoms worse!  I have to get Kyle and Megan to the Y in a bit and later when Kyle goes to Kindergarten then Megan will go to friend, Trish's house while I have a meeting with Kyle's speech therapist to go over tests I requested because of his difficulty with blends.

We bought strawberries from Costco last night that are teh best I have ever had -- they are a dark red and are so fragrant as well as flavorful!  Don't need cool whip or anything with these!

Too Bad

Well it  looks like this board is about used up. It sure was fun when it all started and for the first few years when there were lots of people here.  As long as it is still up I will pop in to see if anyone has come by, but I doubt I'll regularly post anymore.

Good Memories,
Karen

Hi Karen!

I am sorry I haven't posted since January cause no one else ever replied or posted since...

Anyway I have been busy -- I am working for tax season for my account three days a week to see if I can handle working again.  I love getting away for a bit and doing my own thing but it is very tiring especially when come home and have to clean up mess made whiel at work! LOL

Also we have stepped up the search for a house and put a bid that gets offered today so will let you know what happens with that...and have been packing and organizing the hsoue so that within the next couple weeks we will be listing it to sell.

With the weather haven't been to CFS specialist since November but plan on going next month with MIL (who has Firbo and CFS) when she comes back to NJ from FL. (She went to visit her sister in October and ended up staying!)

Talk soon...Karen feel free to send me an email if you don't wanna continue to post on here or come join me on Circle of Friends with Loving Support or A Fresh Prespective to Acheive Weight Loss Success -- both Dr. Phil weight loss support boards that I frequent...hope to see you there or here or hear from you soon!

Hello...I have FMS, along with a host of other disorders and illnesses.

I was diagnosed with CFS along with the FMS.  The diagnosis was given after "everything else" was "ruled out".  Several years later, my new doctor (a woman) sent me for a sleep study.  It was discovered that I have Narcolepsy, in addition to the FMS.  The CFS diagnosis is now questionable...may still exist, but the Narcolepsy is the main cause of the daytime sleepiness.  Since starting Provigil for the Narcolepsy, I am doing much better.  I can actually stay awake to read and drive. Narcolepsy makes it very difficult to get going and made me tired all day...like a slug...the Provigil has improved things greatly.

Have you had a sleep study?...people with FMS and CFS are much more likely than the gerenal public to have a sleep disorder, and there are over 200 sleep disorders out there.  I would highly recommend seeing a sleep specialist and getting a sleep study.  They look at brain wave patterns while you sleep at night, and I had a daytime study as well.  They also look at breathing, blood oxygen levels, leg and arm movement, and general body movement.  They look at how well you are sleeping at night, and how fast and deeply you fall asleep during the day...very thorough testing...diagnosis and treatment of a possible sleep disorder could improve your life greatly...it did for me.

The FMS causes me a lot of pain on a daily basis, and I have to be careful about exercise...walking seems to be the best for me.  If I over-do it, I end up in more pain.  My neck, shoulders, and hips are the worst, followed by joint pain in my elbows.

I lost 50 pounds a year ago and have leveled off.  I had to back off on the exercise due to a mastectomy for breast cancer, a hysterectomy, and multiple surgeries for breast reconstruction.  I have one more reconstructive surgery, and then I am done with surgeries.  I will then be able to resume a "normal" exercise routine.

We love Costco...their produce is usually the best in town, although, we have to be careful to inspect the friut carefully before we buy it...we've gotten bad fruit there once in awhile.

sorry took so long to respond but I have been goign crazy between being sick -- this "cold" is hanging on -- first normal codl symptoms so thoguht had CFS symptoms but then progressed and then became stomach virus and then stuffy nose and cough that hurts....cough is almost gone (today is flem -- yea! NOT!) And besides the cold we are trying to fix up our house to put on the market and searching for a new one...very tiring and frustrating!

No I have never had a sleep study thugh though about doing it with sleep disturbances and all...

Sorry to hear of your surgery ordeal...hoep all is betetr for you!  Great attitude!

I too love Costco but yes muist watch cause sometimes the bulk fruit has bad ones "hidden" on the bottom!

I hope to see you again soon!

Hello Must Be Crazy and Trish

A lot has happened since I was here last.  My Fibromyalgia is either going into remission or it is just getting less painful overall. I've been able to reduce my pain drugs quite a lot.  My CFS days are less frequent than a few years ago too. Don't really know why except I have made many changes to my diet in the last 3 years or so.

My weight is still an issue, but I'm still able to do most of the physical things I want to do. I really tend to push myself though to force my body to cooperate when I want to travel or go on hikes etc. We just got back from 2 weeks in northern and eastern Arizona. I've been all over the world but I had never really visited AZ so we took my son and DIL and grandbaby and saw the sights. It was a fabulous trip.

We hiked in the woods at Pinetop and Spring Valley. We toured Anasazzi and Hopi indian ruins and of course we had to see the grand canyon and meteor crater and the petrified forest while in the area. The beaver dams on the little colorado river were the largest I'd ever seen up close. they were really a beautiful site to see.

Overall, even though the elevation was so high, I did really well physically. I had to use my asthma meds every day but I never had to use my nebulizer at all and that meant great improvement to me. All the exercise allowed me to loose a few more pounds so now I am anxious to get more active here at home to keep on loosing. It is still so hard when I'm by myself. Hiking with a group is so muich more fun.
