This is a place to talk/debate about homosexuality in general. Not just in the context of Gay Marriage, although that topic is welcomed here.

What do you think about homosexuality?

Sin, not a sin? Choice, not a choice? Should they be allowed to marry or not? Gays in the military or not? Is sexuality in neat categories or is it a spectrum? Should genetics be used in the future, if possible, to change a person's sexuality? Bisexuality, a trend, an actual sexual orientation, or just confusion?

Have an interesting article on homosexuality? Post it!

i am not trying to force m beliefs on other people; I'm just speaking the truth and i don't care who likes it or who doesn't. Homosexuality is totally wrong and i don't think anyone should sugar coat this subject. If you are gay and you don't repent you will go to hell and their's no question about that. The bible shows us how a man who lays with another man is an abomination. So homosexuality is and abomination in Gods eyes.

I don't believe in God, or the Bible or in Hell.

But I will respect your right to believe that, always.

But I am talking about gay rights. Once someone started to force those views, through law, onto the masses I will stand right up and complain.

The truth is a funny thing, I've always felt that there are usually at least 3 versions of it, your side, my side and somewhere in the midst of it the truth.  While you may feel that homosexuality is totally wrong I don't.  I know many Christians who do not interpret the bible the same as you do.  What I feel is totally wrong is when someone judges another and then calls them an abomination.  I'm pretty sure that the bible says that only God should judge.  So if you are completely without sin then by all means cast that first stone but I don't think that any of us truly can do that.

I am not God and of course i do sin just like everyone else; but as I said If God approved of gay relations he would have said so in the bible. He didn't creat Adam and Steve, or Ana and Eve. He created a woman and a man to procreate. Two people of the same sex can't procreate. God doesn't make mistakes if made you woman is because that's what you are supposed to be or if he made you a man that's what you were suppossed to be. I don't care what anyone says in the end everyone will see that homosexuality is a great big sin.

Those Bible passages are widely open to interpretation and context of the times. Most references to homosexual behavior in the Bible are within the context of rape (showing dominance over rival cultures) or temple fertility rites. There is NO reference to homosexual relationships, and Jesus himself NEVER spoke of homosexuality.

If you are gay and you don't repent you will go to hell and their's no question about that.

There is a LOT of question about that. Furthermore, I thought only GOD gets to decide our eternities...surely you are not putting yourself as GOD? Doesn't that break the first commandment?

All I'm saying homosexuality is wrong and that's it. It's a sin and it isn't moral and of course i would never put myself as God that would be a sin also.

Using that reasoning, people should only have sex for the purpose of procreation. What about people who CANNOT have children? Since God doesn't make mistakes, guess they need to abstain too!

Why is homosexuality a GREAT BIG sin? What about this? of course i do sin just like everyone else....are your sins teeny tiny sins?

It comes down to this for me. Marriage is arbitrarily defined by the government right  now, due to religious influence. If the definition is going to be arbitrary, then lets let gay COUPLES get married too.

Frankly, I wish legal marriage was abolished. I think it's ridiculous that the government is involved in people's love lives. Make a civil contract if need be for dealing with things like child custody, property and assets...but get rid of "marriage"... if people want to throw a private party to celebrate an attempt at a life long commitment good for them! If they want to have a religious ceremony at their church good for them! But I get sick of Christians acting like a MARRIAGE LICENSE is sanctioned by God.

If I had things to do over again I doubt I would have gotten a marriage license.

Why did I get the marriage license....here are a few of the reasons.

I knew that I wanted to have children with my partner, I also had worked for many years, dutifully paying into the Federal Social Security system.  If I something were to happen to either my spouse or myself our children and the surviving spouse would be entitled to that money.   Now if I happened to be gay and legally entered into a Civil Union (which is legal in my state) my spouse would not be entitled to the same.  Doesn't seem fair.

Another example would be the benefit of filing a joint Federal tax return. Can't do that with a Civil Union either.

When it comes to making the life or death decisions in life, like to pull the plug or not, the only person I trust to make those kinds of decisions is my spouse.  Without that darned license it would be left up to my family and that would just be a mess!  This you can do with a Civil Union!

These are just a few of the practical reasons I got married.  I didn't need the piece of paper then and after being a couple for almost 15 years I do not really need it now.  We are together not because of that license but because we want to be (most days that is).

To me denying gay couples the same benefits that my husband and I receive just screams of discrimination.  It really wasn't that long ago that many states denied interracial couples marriage licenses too.

Exactly, and many religious people don't get that. They think that the legal definition of marriage has to reflect their particular churches definition, or that if the legal definition changes then they have to chage their definition to match or something...NOT TRUE...

The state cannot tell churches who to marry, ever.

I guess I would have to understand what rights you are referring to in order determine whether I would call it discrimination.  I know where I am they have been given the rights to land which was taken from them at one point in history.  I personally view this as righting an injustice.  As far as gambling rights, the land is consider sovergn and they do pay a hefty amount to the state, but again I would need more info.

oops, sovereign.  Forgot to proof read!!

Cheryl, are you being purposefully obtuse? Native Americans land is not US land...just like Canada is not and Mexico is not. Are you upset that you don't have universal healthcare like Canadians?
I am! LMFAO

First of all I find it distrubing that you would support the idea of unequal rights.

Second of all, no, Native Americans are not "Americans"...we stole their land, and we gave them "reservations" as a token peace offering. Native Americans who live on reserved lands are NOT the same as us. They are not "Americans" like us.
You are right, they are not "Americans" like us, they are much more American than we could ever be.
