(Original Air Date: 04/19/07) Some moms don’t want to grow up, and others don’t want to grow old. Dr. Phil talks to women walking on the wild side and tries to rein them back in! Aubrey says her sister, Elise, would rather drink and party every night than take care of her 8-year-old son. Their mom, Heidi, is raising Elise’s child and says Elise wants to be a parent only when it’s convenient for her. Elise promises her family that she’s going to change, but what will it take for her to get her act together? Dr. Phil has a shocking proposition for her. Then, Greg says his wife, Lisa, is obsessed with plastic surgery and worries that it’s becoming a disease. He says she works at a plastic surgeon’s office just to get a better deal on surgery. Lisa, 39, admits that she’s spent nearly $100,000 on cosmetic procedures so she can look as young as her 21-year-old daughter and wants even more work done. Can Greg convince his wife to stop going under the knife? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Grow old gracefully

I am 63 and haven't felt the need to nip here, tuck there. With the help of good genes, a bit of hair color (not that much grey yet anyway) and avoiding the pressure to sport that 'perfect' tan I pass for much younger. When I got my current job at age 60 my manager thought I was in my late 40's. Sure I could stand to lose some weight--but I'd rather get rid of it by eating less and exercising more. I am comfortable in my skin and, if others can't see past my appearance, that's their problem.

What will 'plastic mom' do when gravity takes over and no amount of surgery will get rid of crepe-y skin?

AMEN BROTHER IN BLUE

Quote From: lockemup

The thing that makes me angry is the fact this woman does not have any consideration for herself let alone her child, or the rest of us.  She and her mother should both be required to respond to a traffic crash involving a fatality.  Even to one where the victim has not been horrifically dismembered in a grizzly way.  If she does not stop her drinking and driving, she just may become a statistic that me, or one of my partners will have to respond to.

As for her mother's rationalization of paying for the car because her father is in a nursing home and may not be with us too much longer.  Give me a break!  Is he going to need a stellar credit rating in his final days?  Any major purchases coming up?  Please....  She needs to make contact with the finance company and turn that car in.  They will be glad to take it back without harrassing an old man in a nursing home.  Also, because of his age and living circumstances, the lender may not even waste their time and resources to ding his credit report.

It is terrifying for my wife to always think I may leave for work one night and some drunk may run into the back of my patrol car and kill me because they were attracted to the flashing lights.

And I think Dr. Phil allotted way too much time on his show for these two women to sit on his stage sucking up someone else's 15 minutes...

I empathize with your wife.  There are many of us who wait for the husband, wife, son or daughter to come home after their shift.  My son is a cop..in motors and I especially worry about him and the lack of protection around him (car frame). We've lost 2 officers in the last six months and attending their funerals was 2 of the most difficult things I've ever done.  DRUNKS DO NOT BELONG ON THE ROAD.  Never, never, ever.  And yes, the "female" guest of Dr. Phil, along with her mother, needs to see  first hand in bright living color what a drunk driver can do, not only to themselves, but to the innocents on the road..such as my sons and grandchildren.  I come from a family of alcoholics and though statistics say I should be one too, I don't drink.  Nor do I hold any respect for those who do more than have a SINGLE social drink while out with friends.  I'm not a hard a$$ when it comes to drinking but man, you'd better not get behind the wheel after doing so.

I just read a post in which someone asks why we're bothering to talk about Lisa and her obsession with cosmetic surgery.  I'll tell you why.......it's comical whereas this subject is very depressing.  And, believe it or not, Lisa needs help too even if it is someone to clean and shine her mirrors all day long.

I won't go any further than talking about this fool's drinking and driving.  If I talked about her total disregard for her son and his need for a mother, I'd get my message deleted by the staff.  And do I think she'll take Phil up on his challenge of going to jail for 7 days after which he'll agree to put her in a fancy rehab center....hell NO.  But I do hope she finds whatever she needs to sober up and become a responsible mom, daughter, sister and citizen......and NOT A KILLER.

STAY SAFE........

nothing wrong with it

I am going to be the lone person saying..."I find nothing wrong with plastic surgery"!  Nothing at all.  As long as you're not going broke over it, and you're using your own money for it, then why the hell not have plastic surgery.  I will do it, and I don't much care what other people think about it.  And I have to disagree that it's always done to attract men...the procedures I want done....I want them done for myself.

So again..I see nothing wrong with it.

Aging Gracefuly

I'm afraid that the only one Lisa is fooling is herself if she thinks all this cosmetic surgery is done just to please her husband so he'll be happy with the way she looks.  She does it for one reason...herself, no one else.   Dr. Phil had another blonde on his show a year or so ago & she looks remarkably like Lisa & & believe she's had even more surgeries than Lisa.  And you know what, she looked positively awful...almost clownish.  And this girl was only about 28 or 29 maybe.  With all the surgeries, she actually made herself look at least 40.  We saw photos of her "before" and the whole audience gasped...she looked soooo much better before, & much younger too.

Lisa kept saying that this is the 21st century & women should do everything they can to look better & younger......that BS, she's just addicted to cosmetic surgery and unless she makes a real effort to stop it now, she'll continue forever wanting to change things.  Facelifts are like potato chips....you can't have just one.

You can't help those.....

"You can't help those who don't want to help themselves."

Elise should be very grateful that Dr. Phil is providing drug/alcohol rehab for her and a second chance at life.  There are many people who would like to get help at such a facility for their addiction(s) but either can't afford it, are institutionalized (mental health hospital or jail), or will or have died while waiting to get help.

Alcohol and drugs are great "removers."  They'll remove everything from you - your family, job, home, LIFE!!!

I hope Elise realizes how precious and short life is,  how much time she has wasted "being in a fog" and missing out on her son's life.

None of us can turn back time, but we can make a difference in the present and the future.

I believe that being a mom is the greatest gift a woman can be blessed with.  Cherish your children, love and enjoy them, and let them be proud of you!

I wish Elise a lot of luck, commitment, and better days ahead for her and her family.

I hope she gets help and realizes that being "clean and sober" is a "Freedom" to be very grateful for.  It sure eliminates a lot of worry, trouble, and heartache!

*******

Lisa needs to learn how to care for herself in a way that doesn't involve cosmetic surgery.  When I first saw her, she reminded me of the "cat woman" from New York.  That's scary!

I wouldn't want to look like my daughter's sister and I'm sure she wouldn't want me to.  Lisa's sending the wrong messages to her daughter, which is too bad.

Proper diet, exercise, mental inspiration and stimulation will help Lisa enjoy a lifestyle which will allow her to "grow old gracefully."

I hope she stops having cosmetic surgery - she's had more than enough operations!  I'm sure her husband will be grateful if she does stop now!

Good luck to all!

Plastic Surgery Mom

My question to the mother who thinks she needs so much plastic surgery is "what is this doing to your daughters?"  The footage showed two daughters and I wonder what their self-worth and self-esteem is with a mother that is so consumed by herself and her "good looks"?  I think that Dr. Phil should have brought this into the discussion as this show was about "moms" not "wives".   I feel that the message this mother is sending to her daughters is that looks are all important and that they will never be able to live up to their mother's high standards unless they, too, become addicted to plastic surgery.

04/19 Moms Gone Wild

After seeing the show today with Lisa, who wants more plastic surgery, I am absolutely floored!  We are at war in Iraq, just had a massacre two days ago, we have families who can't afford healthcare, sickness and poverty in this great country, and all she can think about is her plastic surgery.   She should go spend 30 days in Darfur, Iraq or anywhere that has people not knowing where their next meal will come from.  PEOPLE, WAKE UP!  There are REAL issues we need to be solving.  Let's not waste our time with the frivolous ramblings of a self centered narcississ.

There's nothing wrong with staying in shape and taking care of ourselves and wearing make-up and caring how we look. But I have to draw the line at partying and not taking care of your children. I could probably benefit from plastic surgery, but I ain't havin' nothin' done that I don't absolutely have to have done.(Surgery I mean) That doesn't mean I don't think other people should have plastic surgery, but I think sometimes "enough is enough"!
I dont have a problam,to each his own,However, the woman on the show was so obsessive, shallow and one dimensional it was a walking talking plastic empty headed bobble-head.   I had to turn it off.SHE called the show?  I'm sure it was NOT because she only wanted  to be on TV  (rolling my eyes)
