Quote From: catlyninvtHey gang,

Just got home and have 114 posts to read but wanted to post my thoughts on Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 has one of my favorite quotes in the entire book:

"BE-DO-HAVE. BE committed. DO what it takes, and you will HAVE what you want. Don't decide to work toward your goals just for some preset period of time. You have to commit to pursuing your goals, using the seven keys, "until". You work until you have what you want." Dr. Phil

I like that word commit. For me, commitment to something means stick to it, seeing something through to completion whatever it may take, and along with that comes something I have to work really hard at, the need for . . .PATIENCE!! I like to think of myself as a very patient person, afterall, I work with little ones day in and day out and that requires alot of it *lol*. Unfortunately, I'm not so patient with myself and I tend to be much more critical and more harsh on "me" than anyone else would be. I'm working on that. I read this quote over when I'm feeling overwhelmed, whether it's overwhelmed with life in general or the amount of weight I have to lose and how long it might take. I'm able to commit to other people, I'm able to commit to projects that I'm asked to be a part of and I go willingly and energetically . . . .SO, why should it be so hard to "commit" to me? to commit to my own "project status"??. . .It shouldn't be!!!!!

I am now committed to keeping myself on "project status" and working toward my goals until I get to be get real weight. And when will I/We know when that is? According to Dr. Phil it will be when:

We like our body and live in it with pride.

We're happy and truly at peace with our size.

We accept our God-given uniqueness.

We treat our body with respect, care and love.

We like what we see in the
every day.

We focus our attention on living well, rather than looking good.

"It's so much more than numbers on a scale or other device". Dr. Phil p. 29

Well, said Cathy! That quote really jumped out at me this time round too!
As for committment, a couple of weeks ago I saw an article something to the effect of "why aren't you succeeding with your weight loss plan" (actually it probably said diet, but we don't use that word here). Anyway it caught my attention. The reason: lack of committment. Wow - that hit close to home, and made me think the same thoughts you have expressed - I can committ to everything and everyone, except ME. Well, it's changed for me as it has for you.
I managed to read the posts today but had to try to figure out something on the computer for DS and I'm not very technically inclined -but finally managed to do it. Lots of good posts today, and I'm really happy to see so many realizing that the # on the scale isn't the be-all and end-all. Way to go gang!
I had a lack of motivation today - we had a blizzard yesterday, DH was home coughing and moaning and groaning, and our TV stations were out, so he was watching noisy, bad language movies from lunch till about 10:30 last night, plus my cats kept wanting out but it was so windy I could hardly open the door and when they felt the blast of cold air they changed their minds. However, I forced myself to do IE - have done it everyday so far, food and water still 100%. I'm finding I'm finishing my water earlier everyday so guess I'll have to add more. Never thought I'd hear myself say that!
Sorry I don't have time to post to everyone, but have to comment to Sharon re the poledancing - awhile back Oprah had someone on who teaches it, and had a basic demonstration on the show.
Must go make supper. Just wanted to pop in and say sorry I couldn't be here today for the discussion, but enjoyed all the input so far.
Love and hugs
