Trying to Quit Smoking?

Mairo, you have got me interested....what in the world are you doing that you paid your house off in 5 years???  Good for you!  That is great!  What part of Europe did you come from?

Shelly I am glad you are trying again.  Mario is right that you just have to find something different to do with your time.  My dad has been quit for years and he still gets a craving once in awhile too.  I don't imagine it is a strong craving, probably more of a thought.  lately when I get a craving, I just say to myself I don't need one now, I can have one later.  And that is how I quit the first time too, just kept saying I am not going to have one now, but if I really want I can have one later.  And that prolonged the smoke, and then I would say, oh wow I have gone 4 hours with out one I can go longer, and when it was 8 hours, I thought, holy smokes that is a long time, why ruin it, I can go longer, same after a day.  Keep your self really busy.  I am going to be painting when the kids go back to school.  Also going to the gym.  I have to keep myself busy.  Go for walks, go to the grocery store and don't bring them with you.

Leasap, thanks for resonding the other day to my car parking spot.  I dont' like to cause conflict, so I don't think I would honk until they moved.  LOL  I do think the next time, I will say something again.  It really drives me bonkers!

Deb, I wish you all the best today.

I have lots of stuff to do today......chow for now......Tray

not the same!

 hi guys,
this board has definitely changed! and i can't say to the good!
but it also has showed me that it can be done without it!
like i said before, kahuna nobody gets left behind! i wish the doc heard of that one, because i feel that he and his crew left a lot of us (not just this board) sitting in a boat with no paddles.
it seems like people don't find their way back here, or they do but they don't have the patience to stick around! it is sad to type that way!
i just hope that we can grow again!

keep your stick on the ice!

ps: the trick with the mortgage! 75 hours a week and a lot of kraft dinner (i don't touch that stuff anymore! my hometown in europe is outside frankfurt in west germany!

?????

i don't think that this would bring the old crew back!
he blew it this time! but hey i'm still smoke free and that what counts to me! it seems like he changed! in the beginnig he cared now it it seems that he needs to mat his qota! i used to love building furniture, but as soon my boss discoverd that he could make money on that, he put a big rock in my road. now i can care less about that stuff! maybe it comes back! who knows, maybe the old crew gets back online!
keep your stick on the ice!~

Congrats Mario

Congrats Mario..I am so glad you are still smoke free..you are definitely the leader of the board..As far as the board goes, I can tell you from my experience in recovering from addictions..that I can't tell you how many people I've seen come and go since I got sober in 1995..I am one of the few left in my group that are still sober..some people move and some just quit coming to meetings..the main thing I learned from being in recovery is that my job is just to keep coming back and encourage people at meetings..I think I would stay sober anyway, but ya just never know and I'm not the type to want to test it..the recovery rate from alcoholism is about 10% so I'm sure cigs are about the same..addictions are sooo strong, they just take over a life, as we well know..I am sad to say that getting back on board is hard..not as hard as quitting the first time, but I just haven't gotten 'miserable' enough again to stop..my hubby and I quit a couple of days on the trip..but two people in a 10x18 camper, ya know, any excuse will do, but today he has run out and I have five left..I'm asking God for strength to stop this time..on a lighter note our vacation was excellent..we slept in, did some swimming and walked the dogs about three or four times a day..they loved that..we were only about a mile from one of the Indian casinos, so we each took $20 bucks over and had some coffee and played slots..it was fun, of course we lost..but I loved just being cool and having some fun..we watched the sunset every night and played some cards..all in all it was a great trip..our first long getaway since May a year ago..I feel refreshed and ready to take on this nicodemon again..love to all and I'll check back in later..we're doing dinner out I have to check out a few places for my class reunion..so if I don't get back on tonight, I'll check in tomorrow..love to all.Ann

Still can't figure this board out

hey everyone..I was trying to reply to something Shelly had said, but it did not pick up my quote..so anyway..glad you made it back from your trip Shelly..I just went and smoked half of my last cig..'Rick quit about 3 today..he's going nuts already..it's gonna be a long night, but we can do it..it's great to be back and 'see' everyone..I'm hitting the hay and will check in tomorrow...I'm planning to do some roaming around the mall checking out the end of summer sales..fun fun..love to all, Ann

My last post for awhile....

Hi guys and gals....haven't heard from alot of the people that used to be on this board, it seems no one has found this new site or something.  Not sure where Shelly went she was quiting and then disappeared.  The board just isn't the same.  The support isn't their, and most of the time it is like I am talking to myself. Not saying you that are here aren't supportive, but their isn't enough, I guess is what I am saying.  Maybe over time this board will pick up.  And once in a while I will read some posts.

I will let you all no My quit date is August 16th.  A couple friends from elementary school are getting together and spending the whole day together(they are both non-smokers for about three years).  I have decided that is my day.  I don't smoke around people that don't smoke, (I leave the room), so what a better time.

Mario, I wish you all the luck with your smoke free life!  Be proud of yourself!

Good luck to all of you and take care!
