Trying to Quit Smoking?

Quote From: bdhelms41

Hi my name is Bobbi, I have been quit smoking since 3/27, I am on the patch have been on 21 mg, just going on 14 mg. this eve. and I am so scared, I have been having alot of craves and withdraws on the 21 mg. so now am on the 14 mg. and am so scared that it will now be so much harder feel very tearful tonight.  I smoked for 50 years.

any feedback would be so appreciated.

Bobbi

I have not tried  "Chantix", but have heard good results with it. Everything you can prepare yourself with to help, will make it easier. I used the Wellbrutrin, and the inhaler. And coming back and forth to the board when I would have a rough moment. Post often, it helps take some of the pressure off.  I also smoked about 35 years too, and about pack and half a day.

Congrats to those who have quit!

I had my one year anniversary for not smoking on Feb. 16! I had smoked for well over 30 years and laid them down. At times I look back, at times I wish I had one but for the most part I am so DARN proud to ask for NO SMOKING section that I don't ever want to smoke again!!

I have some tips if anyone wants them.

Why not today?

Ok I will try this. Checking out what Dr. Phil's show is today and came across this message board. My favorite topic, "trying to quit smoking". Started smoking at 13, quit at 32, picked up the nasty thing again at 40 and still puffing away here at 53. Trying to quit the second time around seems to be the toughest time for me. Anyway, I am home sick today and woke up with no coffin nails. I think I will try to keep it that way.  Annie

STOPPED SMOKING

I TRIED EVERYTHING IMAGINEABLE TO STOP SMOKING.  I USED THE PATCH, THE GUM, THE LOZENGES, THE NASAL SPRAY!!!!!  NOTHING WORKED.  I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT A NEW PRODUCT CALLED CHANTIX.  IT IS AN ORAL MEDICATION THAT STOPS THE CRAVINGS FOR CIGS.  I HAVE NOT WANTED ONE IN OVER 7 WEEKS.  IN FACT, MY HUSBAND SMOKES AND I CAN NO LONGER STAND THE SMELL.  THE LAST ONE THAT I DID SMOKE MADE ME ILL.  BEST OF ALL, MY INSURANCE COVERS IT.  IT DID NOT COVER THE OTHER CESSATION PRODUCTS.

That's a very interesting way of putting it! I say well put, and thanks for the laugh! Not at the accomplishment, but at the way you said it. That made me laugh, or cry. I am still trying to try harder to quit!! I know how hard it is. I'm proud of you, & talking about it is good.

Great way to look at it too!

Bravo & Keep it Un-lit!

Good luck,

Your Newest Fan Bella523

(I still talk about quitting, not quite there yet)
