Bad mood on the children?

Quote From: jorigrace

I appreciate the response and the advice.  I always used stress to smoke: and I am still afraid of the bad moods and the gaining weight - I just don't want to take my bad moods out on my beautiful children. How do I get that same feeling of sneaking out to smoke when the kids are too much or the day is too long??Again, I appreciate all of the help.  I actually took wellbutrin 6 years a go when we decided to get pregnant and it did work - so maybe it will work again.

Everybody has their reasons to quit. Stress is a big factor in smoking, it's a way to release the tension you are feeling. It's your crutch to hold on to, when no one understands you. And is your best friend when you need a pick -me up. You are a smoker-----you are a nicotine addict !!!!!! Nicotine is one of the hardest drugs to fight. Yes you will be in a "bad mood" and you might "gain weight"!!! But it's your health that will suffer if you keep smoking.

I am living proof of smoking, I had the lung cancer, and had my left top lobe removed at age 49,(I also had a 10 year old son and a 28 year old daughter and a wonderful husband) and thank the Lord it was not any where else. I am 51, and I smoked for 34 years, and I have seen two very close relatives DIE because of smoking, LUNG CANCER!!!!!!!

Smoking is like playing Russian Roulette, it's just a matter of time, before it's "your" time to deal with all the harmful things that come out of smoking.

I also got off too the "sneaking out" to smoke, it's a way of rewarding ourselves for what we have done. But once you have "control" over the smoking that will be your biggest reward, is to know you have kicked the "nicotine demon" where the sun doesn't shine!!!!

My question to you is "how much do you cough"?

Trying to Quit Smoking?

Thankyou for replying!  As I said earlier I am surrounded by non-smokers, they cannot understand that I just 'can't give up cigarettes", but if I could have I would have done it long ago.

Nicotrol inhaler?, I'm in Australia so I'll have to check up with my Dr. to see what the equivalent to that is here.

I too have smoked for over 30 years, I am sick and tired of it.

Thankyou for not berating me and telling me that I should have a 'stronger willpower"

You wrote, " I decided enough was enough",   Gina, seeing this in writing has made me think more positive, .

I am not overreacting when I say that I am so thankful that you thought it was important enough to reply to my post and give me support!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to try your method. In reading your post I saw that I had always made such abig deal to myself about giving up, and it is actually like you say "enough is enough".

Thankyou for making me smile today and for the first time know that I actually am going to try.

Wishing you warm and happy moments with your babies!

I am glad I was able to help. As Linda and the others have said, read the archives and post often. I wish you lots of luck. I know, when you are ready, you will also be, SMOKE FREE. Gina

no willpower

I would very much like to be able to quit smoking, but it really is much harder than I thought. I am a very stressed person. But not unlike so many other people who have found other ways to cope with their stress. I feel like if I was just a "stronger" person it wouldn't be such a problem, but I'm weak.

If you believe that you are weak, then, that is what you will be. Think postive, you can do it. We all have stress, just think positive. Gina

hello everyone, just wanted you all to know I'm thinking of you and praying that all are smoke free that are trying..it's so awful..I have not been able to get back to the point I want to lay them down..even though my finances are suffering and I'm doing a lot of other stupid stuff too..guess I'll just have to get more miserable..be assured for those of you are thinking about picking up that it's twice as hard to quit the second time..I thought I was totally free of the cigs , but after four months I started again..I really thought I had it whipped, so that's a good relapse signal if anyone is thinking like that..anyway, not meaning to preach, just wanted you all to know where I am..love to all..Ann

I have gone without a cigarette for 1 day and 4hrs. I have placed the last 2 on the fridge, and yes just having them there sort of makes me feel calmer (if that makes sense)?,  After meals is the time I have the cravings bad! but I try to get my mind off it in the best possible way by occupying myself (even though my body is screaming and begging for a cig, I am trying to be strong). I have not had a cup of coffee at all, I don't know if that will continue, without the cig. the coffee doesn't taste the same, (or that could be all in my mind). Anyway I am trying my best and thanks again.

You said it, "enough is enough"

I will keep posting.

don't give up, why go that long and then have to start all over again.  That is what I did.  Go for a walk, go to bed early.  You can do it!  One hour at at time!
