Trying to Quit Smoking?

Quote From: tray00

don't give up, why go that long and then have to start all over again.  That is what I did.  Go for a walk, go to bed early.  You can do it!  One hour at at time!
Great job. I thought the first day was the worst, but it gets better. I still have my last three cigs in my truck, and I think just having them has helped me. Great job, keep it up. You can do it. Gina

Hi Linda, and everyone, Hope you are all well. We got a new puppy last weekend. Between Allie, ( the new pup) and the girls and work, I have been very busy. I guess that is a good thing, no time to even think of a cig, let alone smoke one. Have a great week all Gina  2months,5 days 11 hours and 58 minutes. HURRAY

Keep making excuses

I have a confession to make I have been trying to stop smoking for 7 years.  (I did stop when I was pregnant twice).   I go to bed each night thinking tomorrow I'm quiting   I even tried making a date for the end of the month but there is always an excuse.  Kids stressing me out. need a cigarette, husband lights up, need a cigarette.  Get bad news, need a cigarette.  Having a cuppa, need a cigarette.  Social drinking with friends, need a cigarette.  I could go on, on, on....... Actually I'm going for a cuppa now and a cigarette.   (I been on the computer for 5 hours without a cigarette)

Would anyone else like to pick a day it can even be after the new year - but we can start preparing now to stop, seriously stop, no more excuses.  If you are interested please contact me or leave reply.

I am always making excuses, I will say just one more Saturday morning with my coffee and cigs.  And when I start my new job I will quit.  I am in training right now, and start in january, and actaully I have to quit then, I can't smoke thier at all or smell of smokes.  (patients) But I say I will quit when I go for my training.  I constantly make excuses, it has got to stop.

this was the route I took off this board. See if you can get the  wellbrutrin prescription from your doctor, it takes the edge off of quitting, you have to be on it two weeks or so. Then you pick a quit date, get whatever you need to get you over the hump, nicotine gum, patches or inhaler. I used the inhaler. My suggestion to,you substitube the inhaler for the nicotine you are taking in. Then post often on the board, everyday if you can to get you over the rough times, there is always someone reading the board. But whatever you do don't tell yourself "just one more puff",  after you quit. The  word "NOPE", not one puff ever, that is what I took from this board, a wonderful lady instilled that in my mind, named Shelly. Getting your mind set  on quitting, go to the archives and read the old posts, there is also a web site that can help you see another side of why to quit, www.whyquit.com . That helped me, then there is this meter, that gives you an inscentive. Hope this helps, I fought with smoking so many years, it is really something to say "I'm smoke free".

Thanks for your encouragement.  A friend told me when I have a craving. Take a deep breath and think this is my lungs and heart healing.

Thanks again I just have to pick a day now.

Hello Everyone

Well, I have been away for a very long time from this board...... I just wanted to let everyone know that I have finally decided to quit again. I have a lot of determination, and I am prepared for the quit!

I feel very anxious, but I know that the worst will be over very soon. I am working again, I sure do miss my boys... and don't want to be taking time away from them when I am home to go outside to smoke. I also am sick of being stinky.

To all who do not know me, my name is Shelly and I am from Canada. I quit for about 3 months in the winter and started again. The worst mistake I ever made was having that first puff... at least I know that now.

Well best wishes to everyone. Please think of me and send positive thoughts my way.

27 minutes and 2 seconds. 0 cigarettes not smoked, saving $0.15. Life saved: 0 minutes.

Shelly
