Hi Everyone!

Hello!  My quit date of August 2 did not work out very well.  It didn't take me long to mess it up, however, I tried again, and I am happy to report that I have not had one since Sunday morning at 9:30.  I have been smoke free for 24 hours and 21 minutes.  I do feel proud of myself, but at the same time it is extrenely difficult.  I have been smoking for 20 years, and it has become such a part of everyday life, that it is hard not to think about it.  I definitely don't want to go back to it though.  I feel better now.  It hasn't been that long and I feel a difference already!  I am also very lucky, because my husband and of course, my kids, are very supportive.  I will do it this time.  I am determined to keep it up.

Hope all of you are doing well, and I wish all of you the best of luck too.  Talk soon.

Trying to Quit Smoking?

Hi Deb

Welcome aboard. I too smoked a many years, and though the help of this board I quit. You might want to go to www.silkmeter.com , you can download a meter and that is such an incentive to keep going. Also the archives in stop smoking has a lot of helpful advice. No doubt this is hard, but once you get so far it will become easier. Are you taking Zyban or Wellbrutrin to help you in quitting. If not, they are a prescription medicine that helps take the edge off of quitting. I could not have done it without, that's for sure.

I'm from Texas, welcome.

Linda

Thank you so much for your welcome.  I will definitely go to the website to download that meter.  It's nice to be talking to people who understand what I am going through.  It is one of the hardest things I have ever done.  At times I really do struggle.  Then while I struggle, I say to myself how stupid I am for feeling a struggle when quitting would benefit my health.  Sometimes I feel as if I am crazy.  I am not taking anything to assist me in quitting.  I should look into it.  Congrats to you for your quit.  That's great!  I'm going to go download that meter now.  Thanks again for your encouragement and will talk to you all soon.

Good Luck!

hey everyone..hope everyone is okay..I would love to respond to some of the most recent posts, but I still can't seem to get to the most recent post when I log on..so I'll talk about what's going on here..woke up this morning after sleeping fairly..the 400 mile round trip in 36 hours pretty well wore me out..my husband got  a call from work and he has to change shifts today and not go in until 10 pm tonight..it looks like he will have to do this the rest of the week and maybe next week, the other guy on grave shift has some prostrate problems..so my routine is a little off here..I tried to catch up on my house chores and get some laundry done, then hubby and I went to the Sam's club and bought groceries..it is sooo hot here, nearly a 100..so I was kind of cranky, but I'm over it now..love to all..I'll check in tomorrow or sooner..Ann

I'm not sure what this post was about diaries..but I'm not interested in anything like that..I was here for the message boards..so does this mean no more message boards?  I'm so confused, guess I will go thru the new site and figure out what is going on..I can't see where there are any new posts...so I guess this deal has run it's course..it was great to meet all of you and maybe something will be regenerated this season on smoking..I'll be watching..love to all, Ann
