Trying to Quit Smoking?

Quote From: agathe1949

Hi K;   Nice to see you here!  Yes it is very hard to quit no matter how young or not so young we are.  Since you were able to do it before and for one and a half years, you can do this again.  Everyone here has been where you are now.  It took me several tries to do it.  I would not have done this without my friends here in this board.  Everyone here is priceless to me!   You need to get to your doctor and get some Welbutrin or it's equivalent.  Some of us have done it without these meds so it's up to you if you want to go this route. I used the pills and the Nico-derm patches.  Some of us went cold turkey.  It's really up to you, you should know yourself better than anyone else. Then you need one of these meters (Silkquit).  Linda posted the site in one of her messages.  You need to pick a quit date.  You need to find something else to do with your hands while you are in your first month or so.  I knitted and did a lot of crossword puzzles.  Good music to meditate helps a lot too.  Long fragrant baths and meditation.   I had to stay away from all of my smoking friends for the first month or so.  I did loose a few "friends" because I quit but these people were never really my friends.   And yes, I did fall off the wagon. With the help of my friends here, I got back on the wagon and been smoke free for 6 months, two weeks now.   The idea is that you post here often and be honest with your feelings.  It's not easy to quit but it is doable.    Have a great day and hope to read you here again soon.   Aggie Six months, two weeks, 11 hours, 57 minutes and 13 seconds. 4887 cigarettes not smoked, saving $1,954.56. Life saved: 2 weeks, 2 days, 23 hours, 15 minutes.

Nice to meet you Aggie!!  Glad to hear that you have 6 months under your belt that is awsome!!!  I plan to use the board a lot, not sure when I am going to start.  I have had thoughts today about just putting them down and starting right now!!!  Maybe that would be the best way to go???

A good report

Hi there everyone. How are you all doing? I'm better, well in one sense of the word. Our cousin opened her eyes!!! So happy about that. Thank God! They are letting our aunt and uncle talk to her now as well, so that's a good sign I think too. My father-in-law updated me last night so as soon as I hear more I will make sure to pass it along to ya'll.

Welcome to our group, K. You showed up at a good time. There are about 3 of us that are trying to get our heads on straight as we speak to kick this habit once and for all. It's hard but we all are were you are or have been were you are so make sure and post. It helps to be able to type sometimes rather than light up. These are great people you are dealing with here so take advantage of their experiences and advice they can offer. GOOD LUCK!

I am so glad to see Shelly post!!! How are you!? And Aggie, and I saw alittle something from Linda. Hi Tray how are you? Mario, it's good to hear the jobs ok. Well, Ann the gang's all here...what are we waiting on!!!???  :O) PS. I know it's coming Ms. Ann..I'm just messing with ya.

Trying to Quit Smoking?

Hello Everyone!  Glad to hear the good news that she now has her eyes open!  One day at a time, jsut like quitting this stinking habit!  As I mentioned, I thought I may push my quit date ahead, as I hadn't been taking the welbutrin 2 times a day yet, but yes it is kicking in.  My cravings are starting to disappear!  I only had one at work last night!  Today I will cut down some more and the I will be done sooner then later!  LOL

Take care all!

Howdy

So nice to see some newcomers. Hope you have luck posting on this board, it has a mind of it's own. Well in quitting smoking, you have to take one step at a time, or should I say "one breath at a time". It seems the road is long at first, just trying to attempt to quit. But once you have one step behind you, there is another step in front of you, that's when you decide to go forward or step back !!! Us old timers, are here to put out a hand in helping, heaven only knows how much we reached out in the beginning.

Hi from Texas
