Dr. Phil speaks with self-proclaimed slacker wives and moocher moms, who admit they fall short in the mom and wife categories. Keya is a stay-at-home mom who spends 18 hours a day in bed, while her husband, Tyrone, works and does everything around the house, including waiting on her hand and foot. Keya considers herself a “rich man’s wife, but Tyrone says he’s not rich at all, and he’s tired of feeling more like her maid than her husband. Dr. Phil has a surprise for Keya! Next, Nick and Tara turn in their mother, Rita, who is unemployed, living in her van -- when she’s not crashing at their homes -- and constantly receiving handouts from her family. Her family claims she’s even taken money from her grandson’s piggy bank! Are her kids to blame for always coming to her rescue? Then, a mooching mom makes her daughters feel guilty if they don’t pay her bills and give her cash. She has a job, so why is she taking her daughter’s student loan money? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Keya

Everytime we watch the show it makes us laugh....you were great!!  The mopping part was a little troubling.......I guess if you wanted to really fix a mental disorder (which you don't have) you'd hafta go to a real doctor......and if you needed a root canal you'd go to a real dentist........or you if wanted some more useless advice you could read the replies from the armchair doctors on the messages boards.

07/10 Slacker Wives and Moocher Moms

Quote From: wambuiciru

Tyrone,

Cheating is NOT A Mistake..IT is a conscious choice on your part. someday when your daughter marries, how would you feel if her husband cheated on her . Your wife is somebody's daughter whom you have deeply hurt with your infidelity...You say you love your wife, but Love is not supposed to hurt. Every time you cheat, you hurt your wife as well as your children. They might have a Mother physically  present in the house, but she is emotionally wounded and cannot provide emotional support for your children as well as she should..Think about it next time you decide to Cheat again...

Unfortunately, I do not believe that this was all a joke just for fun and game.  However, I do believe that your wife is pretty upset and that you are trying to do damage control.  This apparently is a real situation that you all have to deal with and I don't think you or your wife expected people to confront the issues that you aired on T.V. so harshly, however, reality would have it that you are not in a healthy marriage, you are merely codependent upon each other and if it does not change your children are going to be codependent and abusive to other people and the fruit of your labor is going to hurt you in the long run.  Because nothing hurts us more than to see our children hurting.  They may not hurt right now, however, the picture that you all are painting for them is surely going to cause them pain in their adult life.

Think about it next time you decide to quote unquote play on national television.

Pity??

We read the email from the lady who said that she "pities" Keya. Are you serious? Keya has it made in the shade. I husband who dotes on her, does all the housework? How much better does it get than that. Keya we think you should write a book about how you managed to pull this off. The stepford wives could learn alot from you. Also, men sit back and let their wives do all the work, make meals, pay the bills, etc., etc., etc. but no one finds anything wrong with that.  If we weren't Canadian, we would vote for Keya for the next President. (Surely alot better than G.B)

There are plenty of women who work and come home to take care of the house, the kids and pay the bills. While their husband sit on their lazy behinds. Yes, I said lazy. While some see Keya as being lazy for not getting out of bed to cook and clean. I think it's equally as lazy for a man to come home and not help out his wife. Men want to be pampered and waited on hand and foot. I get tired of hearing that when a man gets off work he deserves to rest and have peace. So, when does a woman that works outside or inside the home get a break?

Stepford Wife

Quote From: dgbabsey

Keya is just fine, thank you. Just because she isn't a stepford wife doesn't make her a bad wife and mother.  Too many people are judgemental.

Babs and Wani

What does being a stephford wife have anything to do with this. She came off in the show, without telling the whole story, as a lazy woman that didn't care about her family or her children. I was angry that there are women like this. I thought poor children, sorry didnt really care about the husbands need, but I thought wow these children need a active mother. She didn't mention that they have all these activies she said she stays in bed for 18 hours a day, and that even in the video interview it was 7 at night and she said she had been in bed all day. I was worried about her children and how they need a mother.

I hope its true that she does things with them, hey if the husband wants to clean then fine, she just needs to be active in the childrens lives, that is really the only thing I see that is important.

Being lazy

I just need to say this, if this was a man that was being lazy and trying to take money from there families, I think we would all be saying he needs to man up and do whats right. Men that are lazy all day and make the women get a job and then clean a house, needs to be kicked out on there butts. Hell I said the same thing while watching this show of Drphil, and I'm always cleaning something while I watch TV I enjoy listening to it, I'M NOT LAZY, but i said the same thing "Kick these good for nothing people out of your lives, they will only bring you down"

But I'm very happy to see them atleast realizeing that they are wrong and going to now put the work into changing, You don't have to clean a house prefectly, and you know what Keya yell at your husband next time he goes behind you and cleans, tell him to knock it off that there is other work to be done then cleaning behind you. I'm sure you do a great job at cleaning, you cant help he is anal but you can make him stop it. Or I think I have said this before, let him continue cleaning the house, you take your little ones to the park and just do fun stuff with them then.

Pathetic

I have no sympathy for Keya.  There is no excuse for her claiming she is a "rich man's wife" and laying in bed all day.  Whether she is wealthy or not, she needs to get up off her butt and at the very least get her kids dressed and take them to school.  What is even more pathetic is Keya blaming her husband.  He does all the work because she won't get up off her fat lazy butt and do it herself!!!  Even when he is cleaning and helping, she is too lazy to tell him no.  Kudos to Dr. Phil for making her mop that whole floor!  Mopping isn't  man's work honey, taking care of your house and your family is being a good wife and mother.  GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!

The topic of the show was slacker wives and moocher moms, had the topic been about anything else, then we would have touched on any other issues we may or may not have.   Yes the situation is real and we expected people to have their opinions, but please realize that they are only opinions.  Furthermore, "The Dr." never stated that she was not a good mother to our kids, she simply doesnt cook or clean.  But Heck, I love to cook, I bet Emeril's wife doesnt cook, or Paula Dean's Husband doesnt cook.  By the way our kids are doing just fine, my 9 year old daughter is ranked at the top of ther class, consecutive honor roll, while in the 3rd grade - she reads at the end of the 5th grade level, need i say more.  My son, who was only in kindergarten at the time as received numerous awards in school and also recognized by his artwork by the mayor of our city. -  You stated "reality would have it that you are not in a healthy marriage" shiz, who's to say that ur marriage is healthy, with the time you took to read all of these messages you could have had the floor mopped, the garbage out and dinner ready for your husband, YOU DO HAVE A HUSBAND DONT U???.  Our children didnt have anything to do with this show, sorry for your misunderstanding, the only painting that i have done is the "red wine color" in my kitchen and the "lime green color" in my dining room.                                                                                                                                                                                                                Like i stated before, some of yall take this stuff way overboard, the show was fun, period...  It was a light hearted, very uncommon Dr. Phil Show, not the usual about to cry about Dr. Phil shows.  As other people had stated, what about the men that don't do anything and run over their wives, have their bath water ran and slippers put on their feet when they walk in?  In closing, I love all of the comments, I am glad that we were able to touch certain places within each one of you, but da mm  nnn,   Ohh one more thing, in regards to "think about it next time you decide to quote unquote play on national television" - the majority of the stuff on t.v. now is someone playin, maybe me and you can go on maury together and he can say,  "Tyrone you are NOT the Father" and i can stand up and do the crip walk while you run off the stage and the cameras follow you.  LMMAO, sorry i didnt mean that, well....................................................yes i did, it's a free trip to Chicago.  For everyone else, look for my debue on Guys Gone Wild, Survivor, I love New York season 2, 1 vs. 100, Deal or No Deal, Wanna be Celebrity Fit Club, Big Brother, Oprah, Jerry - Jerry - Jerry!!!, CSI Miami, Miami Ink, Law and Order and My Sweet 16, so i can really show you how i play on national tv.    This is fun, you must be kinda "hatin" that you didnt have your time to shine, but please reply, i will log in later when i get home to continue.    OHH ONE MORE THING, how can a brotha get down with the DG's - I LOVE CANADA - go rockies!!!

Sweetie, you were great!

Quote From: mystikal8503

my sister, mom, and I are the 3rd guests on the show ....my moms the moocher....Im really nervous to watch it......one of the scariest  and most embaressing things I have ever done....

I watched you & your brother on the show, & I really LIKED you. You came across as being a sweet loving daughter! I'm not sure I could be as nice as you were to MY mom.

REALLY, you are doing the RIGHT thing. DON"T BACK DOWN FROM THE GUILT you are feeling right now. Your mom came across as "vacant". Like there was nobody home inside.

I thought that was really strange. You are a good person & if you take Dr. Phil's advice, you'll be doing the right thing.

Take care,

Cindy
