Dr. Phil speaks with self-proclaimed slacker wives and moocher moms, who admit they fall short in the mom and wife categories. Keya is a stay-at-home mom who spends 18 hours a day in bed, while her husband, Tyrone, works and does everything around the house, including waiting on her hand and foot. Keya considers herself a “rich man’s wife, but Tyrone says he’s not rich at all, and he’s tired of feeling more like her maid than her husband. Dr. Phil has a surprise for Keya! Next, Nick and Tara turn in their mother, Rita, who is unemployed, living in her van -- when she’s not crashing at their homes -- and constantly receiving handouts from her family. Her family claims she’s even taken money from her grandson’s piggy bank! Are her kids to blame for always coming to her rescue? Then, a mooching mom makes her daughters feel guilty if they don’t pay her bills and give her cash. She has a job, so why is she taking her daughter’s student loan money? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

I wish I were a stay at home mom

I am a single mom of 2 kids who at one point in my life was a stay at home mom and loved it.  I would give anything to be there again.  I enjoyed spending time with my kids and keeping up the house.  Now I work a 40 hour a week job, barely see my kids, the house gets to be a mess from me not being there enough to keep it up and the kids can only help so much.  This woman doesn't realize how good she's got it.  I think she's depressed too but she needs to count her blessings because there are lots of people that would love to be home taking care of their kids and have their financial needs met.   Must be nice...

Ok for the one millionth time I said I don't cook and clean I never said I don't take care of my kids. For you people who claim to be Dr. Phil fans you act like you don't know him, if I were neglecting my children don't you smart people think Dr. Phil would have said Keya your kids are being neglected. Maybe you need parenting class but he didn't that's because I care for my kids I'm there for my kids and I love my kids, so AGAIN I DON'T NEGLECT MY KIDS I JUST DON'T COOK AND CLEAN. AND I'M THE ONE THAT CALLED THE SHOW SO I CAN GET HELP LEARNING HOW TO BE A HOUSE WIFE.

07/10 Slacker Wives and Moocher Moms

i'm only 20 minutes into the show...may have missed some details, however...the solution is EASY.

Tyrone needs to let things GO.  It's the same as dealing with teenagers...don't do their laundry...don't clean their rooms, don't touch their bathroom and eventually, most people, couldn't stand it anymore.  Don't comment on her ripe pajama'ed self, and eventually, (unless she's depressed) she won't be able to stand THAT anymore either.

If there's someone who will do it...why should anyone else?  Put her in the position where she HAS to do it, and she will.

OK...will comment more later...

Ohhh...the moocher mom...

I dunno...I couldn't allow my mom to live in a van...no way.  Mom may have problems that aren't easily understood.

I'd give my mom a room...and let her be.  Wouldn't give her any money if she were perfectly capable of making her own (MY MOM wouldn't ask ANYONE for money...not even my dad!)  But yeah...moms would have a room and food and a place to be...for as along as I could provide it...

this woman has NO right to be this way...

i am an Air Force Wife & Mother of 2 baby girls...i cannot begin to imagine what this womans life is like. her mind-set couldnt be more WRONG. try being a Military Wife for a few months. or 7. or even a whole YEAR. not only do you do the COOKING...the CLEANING...taking care of the kids, the car, the HOUSE and everything in, on & around it...but you take on EVERYTHING that your Husband usually takes care of. EVERYTHING. this woman has NO right to complain or say that mopping or ANY job is a "mans job". what the heck is wrong with this woman!? id like to see her do what i do for a WEEK! im only 22 years old & i take care of my S**T! what is WRONG with you, woman!?

That's the whole point if I were in your situation I would do what I have to do. But I'm not in your shoes and I don't have to do those things. My mother taught me how to take care of myself I moved out of my mothers house at the age of 19 and I had my own place guess what Tyrone wasn't there. So I kept my house up, but when you start making a family its not just yourself you have to clean up behind. I worked since I was 18 and sometimes 2 jobs so Tyrone could go to school and get his B.A degree. Only after my 3rd child was born did I stop working and started to stay home and tyrone continued with the cookin and cleanin I didn't have to so I didn't know I decided maybe I should help out and I found it more difficult then I thought. I kept seeing the TV moms doing and loving it and I couldn't get in that groove. So I called Dr. Phil for help and every since then people like you keep jumping down my throat telling me how bad I am. Sorry your husband is in the military, but if he wanted to do the cleaning and cookin you would maybe let him do it too, and as I said I called dr. For help not Tyrone. Tyrone even after the show still do it all. I now try to get to it before him but if I don't he does it. And the cooking he said for me not to touch it. So before you go and try to tell me how bad I am get the whole story and don't compare your life to mines because if the circumstances were diffrent I would be too. Been there done it.

I'm a ex Navy wife, my husband been out for 2 months now. I first hand most women cant do military life and even saw most wives fail at it. So for us women that can deal with this, the long deployments, sewing on the patches, taking the trash out, cooking dinner, hosting barbeques. Meeting allt he new wives, ALWAYS having a clean house. Help the husband with studing to go up in rank and the other million tasks we do. We are a rare breed.
