Living with Chronic Pain

Quote From: simonecornelia

Oh my dear Morgan, am i glad to hear the happy news of having a grandbaby....You must feel in heaven, i know i would be.It must make you smile!!!!! I did not post anymore because i was scared of the reactions i could get abouth the banknummeraccount.I am happy you are not offended, i did not want to do that at all!! I hope by a public house, you mean like a home or something, where you can ask help by pushing a button, but still live by yourself and make your supper*,go where you want to go.Being more free than in a Homecaring for example, for old people, i do not know how you call these homes in the US.But i think you know what i want to say, mean, ask?Explain it, if you can, so i understand where you are going.Congratulate* your daughter from me and wish her all the best, will you.I am tired now, i will go and rest  now allthough i wish i could say like you sometimes :Okay, off to do the dishes.Or, off to go take a shower or something else. But, Morgan, keep it up saying things like that because it gives me courage, treuly*,it does. Then i try at least to do something, even if it doesn't work out as planned.Prof does that too.Love you,Morgan, and please pray with me for Lashwahnna, i am so worried.Yours sincerely, simonecornelia
How could I be offended by an offer to help? {{hugs}}

I worry because they aren't well off. But, we found out it's going to be a girl.

No, public housing is apartments for the poor that are run by the state government. And it looks like I'm going to have a hard time finding a place, unfortunately.

Lashawnna is indeed in my prayers. I worry about her, too.

Blessed be,

Morgan

Hello Debbie

Quote From: comer1

I'm so glad to hear from you and hear that things are looking up a bit for you and your family!

Where in Oklahoma do you live?  I have family in Tulsa  and Little Rock, AR - haven't been out there in years but  have fond memories of my visits as a kid and really loved that area.  I live in Virginia - have all my life and it is a great state.

Hope you get out this weekend and Happy Father's Day to your hubby - take good care of you and your son (I know you'll take good care of him but yourself is another matter - all us moms seems to be that way!!!)

Can't wait to hear from you again - my daughter (child #3 of my 4) just graduated from high school this week so we have had an exciting time - it has taken it's toll as well - my hand is really bothering me this weekend (I have RSD which is a long story!).

Write when you feel up to it - I am thinking of you, praying for you, and keeping you close in my thoughts for many pain free days ahead this summer!

D(also a Debbie!!)

Hello, thanks for writing back, I live in Jenks which is near Tulsa maybe 10 miles or less from Tulsa. I really like it.

We had a great weekend, Me and my husband took my son to the mall and got to meet Spiderman. He had a good time, it was nice to get out and do something. We would walk a little bit then sit a little bit and then look around some more. My 15 year old son works there in the mall so we stopped in and saw him too. Then  for Fathers Day we went out to dinner at a place called Red Robin, it is like a gourmet burger place, very nice and good.

How long have you had RSD. I have had it for 8 years too long. Well I hope you are feeling better, your hand , and thank you for the prayers, they really make a difference.

Congratulations on the daughters graduation, my daughter graduated last year, it was very emotional and beautiful.

talk to you soon,

Debbie

CPAP

Quote From: simonecornelia

Dear Becky, I have read  you message but can you please explain to me what is CPAP.And whatever it is , i do hope it helps you A LOT!                                                                                Thank you.Sincerely, simonecornelia

CPAP stands for Constant Positive Airway Pressure.  It is a machine that has a facial air mask, and it constantly blows air, to force air down into your lungs while sleeping, to keep the oxygen levels up in the blood.  It is used for people with sleep apnea.  Sleep apnea is where the breathing momentarily stops while sleeping, causing extreme snoring, and is caused by the throat momentarily closing off while sleeping.  This causes a person to momentarily wake up, interrupting the normal sleep cycles.

I hope this helps...Becky

Gallstones due to rapid weight loss

I've been on the Jenny Craig diet since February of this year and I have lost 30 lbs.  Last month I was diagnosed with gallstones.  I have done a lot of research about gallstones and it all leads to rapid weight loss (among other things) however I beleive it was due to my weight loss.  I am in constant discomfort not to mention the excrusiating attacks that happen about every two weeks and constantly having to watch everything I eat because I never know what is going to bring on an attach or give me indigestion.

Can anyone relate?

Gallstones....

Hello and wellcome on the board. My mother had gallstones, 6 of them, these are round hard stones and look like dark marbles(we call them marbles because they look like the marbles that children play with, the little round cat-eyed round little glass-ones),you know what i mean,i think. You can loose weight very quickly with gallstones but it is not healthy. The worse thing abouth it, are the attacks of pain and caused by wath you did eat the day before. You should eat light food. But the most worse things are French fries*,Peppers,Spicy food and everything with fat in it. If i were you, i would go to an internist(doctor for intestents, yes?) and ask for surgery to remove your gall and stones. You can live perfectly without it.It is not such a painfull operation and it takes abouth 6 weeks to 3 months to fully recover. My mother did many years ago(17) and now she is eating everything again and she is an alcoholic by the way. So,go to a specialist and talk abouth it.You DON'T have TO SUFFER with your gall.It is suffering and it can be fixed. They give you the marbles when you leave the hospital with you as a memory(in my country, they do!) .That is why i know,my mother had 6 of them. And remember, the bigger they get or the more you have of them, the sicker you will get and suffer. It is not worth it.Go see a specialist, please,so he can help you.My mother is 66 now and does travel a lot,i know from neighbours of her because i don't have any contact with her anymore. But that is my problem or even my relief.Sincerely, simonecornelia

Dear Lashy,prof is right....

Quote From: profderien

dear lashawnna,

okay... it is time to get this figured out!  if you've had i.v. antibiotics and continued oral coverage -- how in the heck can there still be infection?  (it's a rhetorical question!)

it can be so confusing.  last december, i was at death's door -- which, if anyone needs to know, can be found in your closest ICU... anyway, i was in and out of consciousness but starting to get my wits back.  i took a nap and woke to find that i had been put under quarantine conditions!  everyone was suited up in these horrible (*very* unattractive) yellow suits, complete with visors and shoe booties.  "hmmm," said i.  "it appears that something happened while i was napping..."

they got a report back that i was positive for a multi-drug resistant (hospital acquired) staph infection.  ick.

everyone was very somber, cautious.  me?  i took another nap!

this time, i woke to find all the signs and yellow suits gone...

in the space of just an hour or two, i went from typhoid mary to "oops-our-bad!" --

all of which i babble about to you because -- as you already know -- we have to be our own best advocates.  i wish i had the nerve to ask to see (and have explained to me) all lab work.  that would go over like a lead balloon.

alright, ms. lashawnna -- tell them to get their booties in gear and stop sending you home with the wrong antibiotics.  haven't they run a sensitivity test yet?  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

feel better and be well, darn it -- much love,

prof

Hello prof, how are you today? I wish you a wonderfull day from the bottom of my heart!!!!!! You are so right abouth the antibiotics. I am afraid, Lashy, that if you don't be your best advocate, you will end up having suregery again. It was a big operation, you know that too, you are LPN. Maybe there is leek*?-leak*? somewhere and when you eat or drink, little bit of fluids* is coming in your tummy*.OMG,my english is bad,i keep forgetting words. But any way, you understand what i mean..... You could create PERITONITIS like that, I do wish i am wrong, but i wonder..... Also prof said: did they test you for MRSA(Methiciline Resistant Staphilococcus Aurius°. I think that is what prof means the multi-drug resistant staph infection. By the way, it is really hitting Europe too,The MRSA-infection. Please, please,we say here: "Stand on your stripes (refuring army-stripes)" that maens, Go and make yourself angry with them untill they listen and to some good tests, Beg if you have to but find out what is wrong!!!!!!. You are a nurse, ask your results, read them and demand help....You are strong, Lashy, so fight!!!! Yours sincerely, simonecornelia

Yes, i knew about sleep apnea but i did not know what CPAP stood for, now i do,thank you.Can that oxygen-machine give you back a normal, not snoring sleep? Because my husband snores like hell. He had already surgery to make his nose wider and they took half of his uvula, it helpt a bit but last weak, i saw a program on TV that if he is still continues snoring like that, after many years it can increase the possibility of having Alzheimer-disease due to the lack of oxygen during the snoring. If that machine can help with that, i would try it out for my husband. One thing i do remark on him is, if he is not so tired, he snores less, but if he is stressed and pushed beyond his limits, he snores a whole lot more. So, we try now,to get more early to bed, so he has at least 7 hours to sleep, it helps. Also i know that if you drink alcohol before sleeping, the risk of snoring is much bigger too.He does not drink at all, but he tells me,that if i drink sometimes 1 glass of wine or beer while watching TV or when we have visitors coming over, that night i snore. And normally i do not snore at all.Sincerely, simonecornelia. PS Keep up the beautifull things you make, becky, i wish i could buy the brown cat, he is so beautifull!!!!Love you

The gym

Quote From: profderien

dear one, dear all --

it's a lovely day and i hope to get out of the living room and into it momentarily.  very warm but there's a breeze.

we picked our first tomato yesterday!  what can we do with ONE tomato?  we washed it, we smelled it, we put it in the fridge (which i think was a mistake... but i am just the humble gardener.).  if i had known how prodigious cayenne pepper plants were, i'd have only bought one, instead of three.  shoulda gotten bell peppers.  i look forward to the grape tomatoes -- but if i don't stop munching on the little green ones, we won't have any ripe ones.

i woke in horrible pain but used what is becoming a trusted technique -- immediately taking 800 mg ibuprofen and 10 mg percocet along with all the other morning meds, and giving myself 40 minutes.  it doesn't always work but when it does i am very gratified.

so i will make it 3 days in a row to the gym -- although hank is looking odd and may not want to go.

i am thinking of all of you -- hoping you can do something unexpectedly good, even fun, today.

be well,

prof

Dear prof, you are remarkeble*,you still find the courage to go to the gym.I do not anymore!!! I can not stand the pain afterwards but i admire you for going and keep going. You are strong.... i am not. About your tomatos, i wish i had one now..... I did tomatos to in my garden....they were my favorite.I could go into the little glass-home(serre) and be there for hours, sometimes just looking and sitting just to smell the plants or the tomatos.Oh they smell so wonderfull, don't they?I have eaten them by kilo's but i can not anymore, they give me eczema, but sometimes,i cheat, i adore them. But the smelling of them was for me heavenly. If i try real hard, i can smell them now, so different than the ones in the supermarket. I grew onions too, salad, green and purple beans, parsley etc. O how i miss gardening.Keep it up ,prof, and let me know sometimes what you have planted or anything at all about vegetables. The only thing i grow now with seeds is Alfalfa(clover), for my green Iguana Iguana. He adores that and needs it to get good bones.Sincerely, simonecornelia

To all of you, read again this story July 2005

Quote From: jb7ctx

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand-one belonging to him and the other to the Lord. When the last scene had flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints and noticed that many times along the path there was only one set of footprints in the sand. He also noted that this happened during the lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk all the way, but I noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I dont understand why, when I need you most, you deserted me". The Lord replied: "my precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you......"
Dear all,Lashy,Morgan, Becky,Karin,Carl,Prof,Debbie,Pickles, all of you,  i was about to log out but by mistake ended on the page where this was written.I saw the word "dream" and i started to read it all. Isn't this beautiull? Well, my wish for today is that God will carry you all today in his hands and give you all some relief and a painfree day. Yours sincerely, simonecornelia

I don't need this today... or maybe I do

I have my SSI physical evaluation today, and I woke up to a thunderstorm. My right arm is hurting like mad on that account. As well, my gut (from the Crohn's) is hurting and rumbling ominously. Well, as unpleasant as it is, maybe it's good for my case that they see me in pain.

Keeper and I went together to take my name off of the joint checking account. Tears welled up right there in front of the cashier. It was good to see him, though. I just wish it could have been longer, but he picked up some lunchmeat at the store (the bank branch was in the store)  and, understandably, didn't want to let it sit in the hot car.

Well, time to swallow my morning meds, put up my hair, and gather my things so I'll be ready to go. I know, I have 2½ hours before the Open Door bus is due, but I don't want to be running around like crazy at the last minute. Oh, and I'm sure the cats would appreciate if I cleaned their litter boxes before I left.

I hope everyone has a reasonably pain free and upbeat day.

Blessed be,

Morgan
