I think that the wife is lingering in this relationship because she's affraid she won't find anyone else. I also think that she's not as concerned for her children as she claims to be. If she were, she would make a clean break from this guy and realize that a failing relationship filled with animosity is actually worse than having parents who are divorced. The wife is very selfish. She's also more concerned with her best friend than her husband. This may have played a part in this marriage's demise. Most women will side with their man at least once or twice when it comes to fueding with best friends. She hasn't. This can't be a sign of strenth because there she sits on Dr. Phil telling the world that she's willing to give the cheating abusive husband another chance. I can only suspect that this second chance option is because she lacks the confidence to go out and find someone better or maybe she's just lazy. OR a third thing is that she has become comfortable taking hubby's money and being divorced would mean she'd have to suck up her automobile accident injury and find a job herself. That designer kitchen we see in the shots at home would need some up keeping and she'd have to contribute to that. She'd take hubby to the cleaners in court but she'd still need some other source of income. In short, she's full of crap. She's not forgiving, she's more concerned with her own well being than anything else. Unfortunately she doesnt realize that her own well being would be better served away from the cheating fire fighter.
I also think that the husband is full of crap. He clearly is lying and this is demonstrated by his inability to answer questions when they are posed. He's stuttering and focusing on the best friend. He clearly hates the best friend. Words such as "whore" and "i think your ugly" are spewing out of his mouth for not other reason than he's angry she's there and that she's calling him out publicly. Things he wants kept secret are now coming forth on national television. Therefore he thinks he'll sway the rest of us by letting us now how disgusting he finds her and that she's a whore. He's also probably angry about something. I'm guessing it's because of the big reveal that the wife slept with his best friend there's probably other things to be angry about. The wife clearly isn't perfect. He'll continue to be something of a jerk to the wife whether they live in the same house or not.
Cheating is a tough thing to try to get over. Neither of them are making an attempt to do so, they're just trying to mask the fact that it ever even happend for the sake of....oh ya, their children. I almost forgot about them. It's fairly easy to do considering they do it. They are two very self absorbed people trying to make it work. Both of them need to realize there are other people in the world who are better suited at making them happy.
