(Original Air Date: 10/03/07) Hating your own mother is hard to imagine, but today’s guests say they want nothing to do with the women who gave them life. Dr. Phil speaks with feuding mothers and daughters. Nineteen-year-old Megan says her mom, Tracy, is nothing but her egg donor. Megan has been singing since she was a child and is now a rising star in the music industry, but she says all she wants is for her pushy stage mom to butt out of her life. Tracy says Megan’s record deal is the worst thing that ever happened because it turned her sweet daughter into a stereotypical rock-and-roll singer who’s into sex, booze, drugs and rebellion. Can this relationship be saved? Then, Carrie calls her mother, Sarah, the “spawn of Satan.” Carrie wrote a book about Sarah’s real life near-death experience at the hands of a serial killer. Now the mother and daughter are fighting over who owns the rights to this compelling page-turner. Will they heal their relationship so that the book can get published? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

100% agree...

Quote From: pollaka

Dr. Phil did nothing during this show but shamelessly promote Megan's new album and offer "advice" such as, "It ain't about the book." Really, you think? I thought this show was supposed to be about fueding mothers and daughters, not the huge, ground-breaking record deal some 19-year-old just signed. The girl was a total brat and the entire show was spun to make the mother look bad.

The second story wasn't much better. There were so many emotional issues the family was going through that Dr. Phil didn't even begin to touch on, like the fact that the mother was, um, STALKED BY A SERIAL KILLER. Instead, he devoted time to showcasing Megan's beautiful voice. Girl can sing, but sounds a little like Amy Winehouse to me.

Wow!  I am glad someone else is seeing the lack of Dr. Phil in the Dr. Phil show...

I am appalled.

I am a daughter. I am not a mother. My mother and I disagree alot!

I am part of this generation, I loved Megan's music, but I will NOT buy her music. She was a highly disrespectful person.

I will not support a person who is so diesrespctful to other people. Any people.

Drama

Megan is acting like a dramatic teenager. I know I do not know her personally, but her actions show how immature she is. People have issues with their mother often at that age and do not take it on a television show. This possible "publicity stunt" is bad publicity for her. I know it will keep me from ever considering purchasing any of her music.

Megan said she was "clean and sobor"

Quote From: prettypanda

Mine included.  My daughter is an adult and she could be interchanged with either of these two young ladies.  Their words could be hers.

The common thread I see is one of entitlement.  Megan feels she is "entitled" to do drugs, drink, be disrespectful, etc. as she has been thrust into this very unusual life prior to having the proper grounding to maintain a healthy life perspective.  In other words, too much, too fast.  "Talent" doesn't mean "equipped to handle."

The other daughter feels "entitled" to her mother's life story.

So, how does one begin to feel entitled to cross boundaries that should not be crossed?  And, how do the people caught in the cross-hairs of that battle diffuse that sense of entitlement so healing can begin?

This is what I had hoped Dr. Phil would address.

.. that's kind of an important point to miss,  don't you think?

GROW UP YOUR PRENTS LOVE YOU!!!!!!

It's so sad to see these girls thinking at ages 18-25 that they know the world., I'm amost 33 Istill rely on my parents for advice, communication, love and support. Of course, they are a little TOO protective, but at the same time, I would rather have a protective parents thanones whocould care less.At 18 yrs old, I'm sorry, but you really don't know what the world is all about. There are too many children out there who think they know more than "mom" or "dad". GUESS AGAIN. You really don't. LET THEM LOVE YOU . LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO MISS OUT ON THAT. LOVE YOUR PARENTS!!!!! THEY ARE ONLY HERE ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!

Well can you say, GROW UP, your right Megan can sing but I would never buy a record of hers because of her personality, not just how she was towards her mother but her attitude  in general. The daughters on your show seam to think that just because they were born , everything is to be perfect. HELLO, no one grows up in a perfect home some are better than others, but you make the best of it. Wait until they have children, I hope they get a hand book on how to do everything perfect because I haven't got mine in the mail yet. They need to grow up.

10/03 Mama Drama

Quote From: duranlover

When my Mother was age 81 laying on her death bed, she looked deep into my eyes and told me I was a good kid and that she loved me. That was all I ever wanted to her from her. I told her that she was a wonderful Mother and I'll never forget her. I always feel blessed with that love when I watch these kinds of shows at times.

i have to agree with you on that on  my mother has not yet met her resting plass but my parents tell me that every day for 20 years now and i feel the same way you do "I always feel blessed with that love when I watch these kinds of shows at times." she is very talented as well she can sing and hope she goes far with that.

thank you

Quote From: huckie

I thought she sounded pretty good.  Just because she is a pop star doesn't mean she can't have personal family problems.  And if she does have issues and publically seeks help - that doesn't mean she is really only  "seeking publicity".

BTW - Lindsey does have a "problem-Dad".  Britney's mom appears MIA.  Paris' dad tried to sell her at auction to Barbara Walters while she was in jail.  Maybe all kids with problem-parents get into scraps now and then.  They are just a little less well-guided than others.  The fault is not all theirs.  IMO

I agree, but I think that (to anyone with common sense)  her appearance on the show was very detrimental to her career.

No, she doesn't have to be 'problem free' to be a pop singer if anything having "problems" will help her. Geez, isn't that sad, we just eat that crap up.

I personally thought she was a bratty, disrespectful know-it-all. Dr. Phil can't tell her anything she doesn't already know because she's be in so much "PAIN". (begin speaking in whiny, dramatic, martyr voice here) "Oh the pain of being an aspiring singer, I don't think I can possibly survive another dye job due to my suffering!"

Maybe she should write a song about how much time it takes her to get ready everyday, that seems painful to me.

Talent but no substance!

The girl may have talent but I have no desire to support her or the woman who is supposed to be her friend. What kind of woman allows a teenager to do whatever she wants while in her care? I'm sure the mother made mistakes. Who hasn't? Her lack of forgiveness will not help her cause. One day, she may realize just what shutting her mother out of her life has cost her. I do not understand why Dr. Phil did not address the woman who helped to create the problems between mother and daughter.
