How well do you think you know your neighbors, your friends and even your child's teacher? It is estimated that four to eight million people in North America are swinging in the suburbs -- mostly middle-class folks from all walks of life. Dr. Phil gives you a closer look at who these couples are who engage in sex with other twosomes. First up, Nita and Walter have been swinging for the last 12 years. They say they are happy in the lifestyle, so why does it cause tension in their relationship? Then, Brent says he has a strong yearning for he and his wife, Renee, to participate in a threesome. Renee says the idea disgusts her, but worries that if she refuses to join in, Brent will leave her. They fight constantly, often dragging their 17-year-old son into the middle of their chaos. Brent says he thinks about having threesomes every other day, but says that his desire is normal. What does Dr. Phil think? And, Dr. Phil viewers weigh in and share their thoughts about the swinging lifestyle. Join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

01/25 Secrets in the Suburbs

Quote From: raymom5

It' ok because I'm with my HUSBAND!!!!
So are you saying that getting naked and doing the nasty anywhere you want in public should be tolerated because it's with your husband.  There's gotta be some kind of laws against that.

01/25 Secrets in the Suburbs

Quote From: raymom5

Trust me, if they are in high school.....the kids are talking about who is banging who.....when you go outside of your marriage....your secrets get out.  Don't be so naive to think that people do not talk....they do...

Sooooo....it's alright to have sex in public because it's something you are o.k. with and because it is with your husband but you don't think that it is something that it is something that high school kids would go back and tease your kids about if they saw the two of you?  Is that what you are saying?  I really don't understand you points of view.  It's as if the only one on this message board that is right is you and everyone else is wrong.  You say that your marriage is a good one and that is great.  I believe that there are wonderful monogomous marriages and that there are wonderful "outside of the box" marriages but I have yet to understand your extremely narrow view on everything.  In reading the posts here, it has made me ponder points on a lot of things I had no thought about.  That's not to say I agree with all of it but there are many points to look at from different ways.  I've tried hard to see why you see things the way you do but I don't think you see things quiet like anyone else on here.

I have a question for you swingers?  Has there ever been any single guys trying to get up in  the action.  I mean, I can see why the rules are probably spouse swapping, but what if say a bisexual same sex couple wanted in on the action, would they not be allowed due to throwin off the balance?

01/25 Secrets in the Suburbs

Sorry about being hypersensitive, guess I have been a little taken back on some of the venomous attitudes on here.  As for the comment I made in regard to God, I didn't mean that in a negative light.  I have always said that that way because I think that everyone has their own view of God that is atleast slightly differing from everyone else even those of whom are the same religion.  I think God and religion are such deep personal things that there isn't any possible way for everyone to view them exactly the same.

I would say the same exact thing could be said for personal sexual prefrences.

01/25 Secrets in the Suburbs

Quote From: playfullcouple

You know, you simply are not the 10% it works for.  Romantic attatchment does not happen for the people that are truely secure i ntheir relationships.  this is not for eveyone and no one should pretend it is.  Simply know, that for those of us it works for, it really works well.  We have met couples that try to split us up or steal one of us away, we simply laugh it off and move on.

And as far as satisfying my wife or me more,   taht is simply physical.  No one could ever satisfy me emotionaly like my wife.  There is a vast differnce between making love and having sex.  And so what if the guy is bigger then me....it sounds like you have more issues with your self esteem and confidence  and that might be the issue that worries you.  I am not he biggest stick o nthe bench, but I do play hard when I am on the ice...ok, sorry Canadian with a hockey metaphore...LOL

I have no worries or confidence issues.  I have and can please many girls, but i am not for all and that is the way it goes.  So if I can give my wife alarger man with differnt aproaches and sensations, it is no differnt then buying a sex toy.

Just remeber, we don't judge you for being religious or in your beliefs.  remeber, a vast majority of swingers start becasue of bi-sexual feeligns in one party, and it goes from there.  Bi-sexuality is no differnt the Homosexuality, yet it is frowned on and even treated as a desease.  My Wife got this from a religious leader.  So to say the least, we no longer look for aproval from nay organized religion.  How can one say hat Homosexuality is aceptable, but bi-sexuality is not.

Please do not judge, simply know that people do differnt hings in there bed room and it is their right and privlidge to do this and NO one has the right to tell us it is wrong or degenerate.

IS that the percentage?  10%?

That sounds about right to me,  actually.   That it would WORK for,  I mean.  As im sure the percentage climbs much higher for those who have ever tried  it.

embarrassed

Not a good thing at all

I am embarrassed to say that my husband and I did this very thing. He had a fantasy. Great, so I did end up just like what Dr. Phil said at the end of one of the messages when the show was aired, I ended up enjoying the time with one guy and did not want to go be with any of the other people. All I heard from my husband was. This was something we could share. Yeah ok. I was so stupid to have given into this. Our marriage is now almost trash because of stupid mistakes on both our parts. He wanted to play so now I guess he has to pay. I do not totally want to destroy our marriage by running off with this other man. Although to a point I think my husband gave up lots of his rights when he wanted to see me with another man. I keep thinking about our marriage and how good things were, so I thought. After all has been said and done and we are seperated. I feel sad now. I think something must have been missing for him to want to go out to these parties and to hook up with other people. He tried to tell me it was not about him being with another woman. What do I look like STUPID? I knew better and I worry that years down the road if we get back together that this will come up again. How do I take that chance. We haven't talked much about any of that in a while, because it ends up in an argument. I do have deep feelings for this other man, and he left his wife. Now I don't know if I want to divorce or give it another try. I felt so bad for the couple with the woman who did not want to do this with the threesome. You could tell her feelings were crushed to know that her husbands desire was stronger than his love for her. I think he acted like he wanted help or he was just embarrassed that he was singled out there. Whatever any of you think don't do it. Like Dr.Phil said there is enough temptation in the world, then we went and did this. I could kick myself for this. The other couple had problems  in the marriage and did do this to try to help it. That was a dumb idea. I do know he would have left her eventually rather it was me or another woman down the road. I'm not sure I want my marriage to end, but I'm worried that he is not as sincere as I want to think he is. Since I'm the one who did fall for this man, it now has become the monkey on my back and I'm to blame. Never mind this was his dumb idea in the first place. Dumb, but what was I thinking??? I'm so torn in my life I have no idea what I'm suppose to do. I have to be the most fickled woman in the world. I do wish those of you luck who think your relationship is made of stone to with stand this, I don't think it is and I have seen more drama than not with those swinger deals. I know one thing I need dr.phils advice. Good luck everyone

No apology necessary, I wasn't trying to be too obvious about it.  It was more for the people that know me.  I like to look at things as objectively as possible, so sometimes I will attempt to post from another person's perspective.  I really can see both sides of this thing.  I'm just not one to think people have to see it from my side.  I'm not gonna act like I won't make judgements about a person's sexuality, but those judgments are only used when applicable, and only applicable if I am considering being sexual with them.

I didn't think you meant the god thing in a negatively light, I should of explained that one better.  I don't think of god as a person, god, to me, is Being itself.  Thats why sins are punished through the negative consequences of the action itself.   BTW, PENNY I did a celbrity look- alike thing and albert einstein came up.  hehehe (einstein is like dead on with how I view religion, I"ve read many of his thoughts and I've never found something I disagreed with him on)  Thanks again for shedding light on that, pen, I never knew he was such a cool dude.
