Since Britney Spears and Kevin Federline split, the pop star's troubles have played out in the tabloids -- photographs at Hollywood hotspots with Paris Hilton, partying without panties, impulsively shaving her head, raging at a car with an umbrella, and spending a month in rehab.  Last month, the judge ordered the pop star to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week as part of her ongoing custody battle with Federline.  Then what was supposed to be a comeback MTV Video Music Awards performance made Britney the butt of endless jokes, and the following week, her management firm dropped her and her divorce attorney resigned.  And on Monday, Britney hit rock bottom when she was ordered to temporarily relinquish physical custody of her children to Federline by a judge who had cited a troubling lifestyle fueled by drugs and alcohol.  Could Britney be at risk for suicide?  Plus, Dr. Phil will share insight into the Britney story from the inside. And, Spears’ former bodyguard who says he spoke out to protect her children, will tell Dr. Phil what led him to go public. If it's happening now, Dr. Phil is going to talk about it now! Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

this my story

i thank that she should turn her life around and think about her kides because kides are important in your life and they should get help she needs so she can get her kides back cecause it could be a charm that they go to other homes and i think she should think about that a lot because it is hard to not have kides in your life too

The question should not be "Does she deserve to lose her children"? The real question is "Does she deserve to keep her children"? People seem to think that parenting is a "right". I disagree. It is a privilege and an honor. God gives to us a precious untainted soul to mold into a loving and productive adult. When our lifestyle and choices scar that child, someone should step in whether it be a friend or family member or in this case of true danger, the authorities. My heart goes out to Brittney and her family and especially her children but I cannot see where the judge had any choice but to do what he did. Unfortunately for her, her mistakes are broadcast everywhere. That's the price of  celebrity. However, it is good for the children that their mother's neglect and bad choices have not been swept under the rug allowing these kids to pay a horrible price for the rest of their lives. I truly hope that Brittney gets the help she needs to be a good parent and a happier person. We all need a little help now and then. I hope that her pride doesn't get in the way of receiving help.

Wonderful post. Thank you. And although I cannot bring myself to watch or listen to these so-called "celebrities" (our priorities as a country are so screwed up), I do hope that EVERYONE puts the welfare of the children first, foremost and ALWAYS. It's not about Brittney, or Kevin or anyone else. It's about the KIDS!

Thank you again for writing such a well-thought out and well-expressed post.

Dont thinks it fair...

I do agree that Britney had some issues to work out but having a show about "her life" and "her kids" with out her there to defend herself, I think is wrong.

Come on Dr. Phil!!!

Dr. Phil,  I thought your show was about every day people with every day problems.....why are you encouraging the public eye to focus on celebrities that have sprialled their own lives down the tube and then want attention for it?  I really enjoy your show for the most part and this was the FIRST show that I have actually doubted you about.  Millions of people rely on you for advice and help with problems that they can relate to.  How can we relate to a popstar's problems?

Your comment about Kevin Federline showing up in court with a "black eye patch on one eye"....well  who cares what he was wearing on his eye?  You are stooping to an all time low Dr. Phil.  This show could have been done very differently by actually focusing on what the problem is with Brittany Spears and not what the media and everyone else thinks is happening.  You are only encouraging exploitation of Brittany's problems.  Lets get back to the real thing.

You know as human beings it is easy to sit back and judge people for what they do, what they look like, how they dress, ect. and of course there are worse things in the world than Brit and her drama but for someone to say she doesn't deserve simpathy that's a very rude and a cold thing to say.  I do feel very sad for all the things she is enduring right now even if she did bring it on herself.  The girl needs a good role model, maybe some medication if there is chemical embalance in her brain, and whole lot of love from someone that won't leave her when the going gets rough.  Love and Prayers Brit hang in there!!!

I wish everyone would just see that

BLAH! BLAH! Poor Britney. .......I don't feel sorry one bit. If she did not want to live under a microscope then she should have choosen a different career! If she does not like dealing with the media....don't do stupid S**T. If there is anyone to blame it's herself. How many other people get second chances once the court has made specific orders for drug testing ,etc.... NOBODY....so why should it be any different.
I agree totally with you!

10/04 Britney Breaking News

Dr. Phil,

Britney is acting like alot of other questionable young mothers and the law is working how it suppose to unfortunately in the real world there are no cameras and media attention therefore young women do act just like Britney but without the consequences. The ones who care can report it over and over and the most that happens is the mother is questioned--she lies--case closed. So when can every court count on photographers to video all of the child custody cased??
