This show airs late afternoon. But the audience at the tapings is an adult audience.  No children are allowed.  The content is adult content. Subjects are adult subjects.  Before the show starts, there is a warning about the type of show this is. Children and sensitive adults are not supposed to watch this show.

So why do they beep out some words?  If the guests or Dr Phil are not supposed to use them, they should not use them.  Period. It is very annoying to have these beeps or these **** and not know what they stand for. Or sometimes the conversation goes like:"So he calls you the A word, the B word, the C word, the D word, the E word, the F word...oh how offensive!".  But what are these words?  When presented like that, I do no find them offensive because I do not get the point, and I do not understand what all the fuss is about. I find those people are getting offended for nothing.

I most certainly am not the only person whose mother tongue is not English, and who has a problem understanding all the subtilities of these expressions and of specifically English idioms.

Since this is an adult only show, and ample warnings preceed its airing, I find all words used on the show should be left as is in the show. I find that the current practice is condescending towards the public.

I am confused

1st, let me say that just because the show airs in your area in the afternoon does not mean it airs everywhere in the afternoon.  Here it is on at 9am.  Even though there are warnings posted at the beginning of shows that does not mean that people actually heed the warning and therefore would be upset with the Dr. Phil show for saying the words that you want left in.  My suggestion to you is that if you don't understand what the A word, B word, C word, and F word are then you may want to have someone explain it to you.  There are rules about what can and can not be said on TV and it is not up to the Dr. Phil show to make those descisions.  They are just following rules are set for ALL TV.  In the same respect, the Dr. Phil show can not control what comes out of the mouths of their guests.  Therefore, editing is required.  You need to learn a basic understanding of American TV laws.

A annoying practice of this show

It airs at 3:00PM locally for me (just before Oprah)....if you don't like it...don't watch it.

Oh...and you can understand the show without interpreting all of the bleeps...it's not Jerry Springer.

network restrictions

The show must bleep out words because the FCC dictates what can and can't be said on non-cable TV.  That's my guess anyway.

The show is sindicated and shows at different times in different time zones, in different countries.
Legally all shows that are mainstream, especially in the USA, have to put that disclaimer at the start of the show warning people about expicit language, sexual content, voilence, or whatever. It's part of those ratings like PG, etc.
I like the more liberal stations in my province and who gives a shyte what words are used to express some kink.

I don't agree that the show can't control what comes out of their guests' mouths. The show hand picks these numbnuts, and screens then pretty carefully, I would think. If the show is now into putting spy cams in these rediculious people's homes, then the show sure knows what kind of people they are working  with.
The show is on during the day when most people are at work. The show is not primarily geared toward those working people. It's geared to those that are a lot like the yahoos they get on the show.
After all, if a person is really functioning in their own lives, then they are not waiting at home for their TV hour of pop psychology.
I like these talk shows because I usually get a good power nap out of them.

Because in the US people legislate their personal sensitivities. And it's ridiculous.

OK since you are not from this country you most likely don't know of something called The FCC. Look it up. They are the Government agency that regulates what can be said on the air waves. Foul language like the F work and the A word are words that can not be said on TV at the time the the Dr. Phil show is on. Now after a certain hour of the evening called Prime Time then you can say the A word but you can not say the F word at any time except for on Premium Cable channels like HBO and Show time. Have an English speaking friend inform you of what the these  abbreviations means and then you will be able to follow along. Also there is enough cursing in the world and I don't need it all over my TV and on every show I watch. Breaking down a curse word to it's first letter is more respectful to others. If you want to watch a show with a lot of cuss words on it watch premium cable channels. Also remember that at 3:00pm there are children that are home and yes they can be removed form a room does not mean that they can't hear. Also there are children that com home after school and there are no parents at home so they watch waht they want. You may find this "practice" annoying but it is a "practice" that is governed by our laws.

Dr. Phil is  among the most respect people I know  on tv  and around the world. To me He is simply the best. He is smar toot. That would qualify him to surely know, what to be said and not to be said on tv  .

What is normal?

Normal is what feels  normal  in ones's normal mind , but, excluding. Killing, abusing, hate, stealin and selfishness. etc

What is Moral?

Ones morals can,t  be applied  to others . People need to define their own  morals, and feel comfortable with themselvs. But never to impose their morals and normality to others either.

Rules and laws though are differnt, different  though still in differnt pla,ces around the world

It is fine to have our own views and freedom of expressing them. Be carefull never to seriously impose your own understing  or views to others.

Even God our creator , granted us the will to choose to  follow him, or not to follow Him .

These are my views and  ideas. May be they meant something to someone or not. They are just my views

Amen to you guys.

In the United States Dr. Phil is on twice a day.....

Once at 2:00 PM  and once at 7:00 PM.  Surely you can find a suitable time to watch without the kids around with those choices.

Most often the afternoon 2:00 PM show are a repeat of some of the evening shows.

Hope this information helps.
