(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Even if this is hypothetical, it's in disgustingly bad taste. And why would an innocent man write such an insensitive book about the death of his wife, when he says he wants to find out who did it. What is the point of writing this book, other than exploiting a tragedy in order to make money. It shows what a sociopath he is. He apparently doesn't even get how disgusting this is, Because he doesn't know how normal people think or feel.

If I did it

I am so interested in reading this book. The sad truth is we will never know the TRUTH. Everyone has opinions, but he was not convicted. However he was held liable in a civil trial. Remember what they say about opinions? A beautiful young mother and young son is dead. That is the truth.

Remember the limo?

I too thought OJ was innocent until a few weeks, or days after his trial. Does anyone remember the English reporter that followed him around for 24 hrs? In her limo he said "I got away with murder. Well, they think I got away with Murder,"  The pause between the sentences were WAY TOO LONG! He realized he had just confessed and tried to take it back! From that moment on I knew he did it, Now he's confessing all over again!

Will the subject ever be dropped?

Granted, O.J. opened himself up to a new round of speculation by attempting to publish such a book.  Perhaps he felt desperate to proclaim his innocense on his own terms, as one cannot be blind to the price he has also paid, despite aquittal.  But after all these years I just wish the subject would be dropped.  None of us can ever know what happened on the fateful night that two souls were murdered.  What we do know, is that a jury of O.J.'s peers aquitted him.

Personally, I find it difficult to comprehend that OJ. would risk his children seeing him take their mother's life; especially since the crime scene, as I recall the media, held so little evidence - which would imply the perpetrator's attempt to avoid being linked to the crime.  Surely then, witnesses would not have been left alive to testify, had the perpetrator(s) been aware of, or considered the children's presence.

I wonder what those two, poor children think today, as they have to re-live more publicity surrounding their mother's death and the blame that is placed on their father.   I am especially annoyed with the racist remarks I have read on this site.  Grow up people!   If the couple had not been of two different races, what then would you come up with?  Or, would you then consider that someone else really could have committed those murders?

Do I believe that the Goldmans should profit from O.J's book?  NO.  And neither do I believe it should be a way for O.J. to prosper.  I believe he used bad judgement in seeing it written, especially if financial gain was his motive.  Personally, I think the book should never be permitted to sell.

Kardashian's face...

Quote From: kobesnana

You are right about bringing different clothes. He gave a satchel, with his clothes in it, to Kardashian. Did anyone notice the utter disbelief on Kardashian's face when the verdict was read?

One of the reasons he was acquitted was because the defense tried to make it look like he was framed by the police department. The steps that the police took was not proper and therefore the defense claimed that the dna was tainted. I knew from the moment I heard about the chase that he did it. Why was he so upset? Why would he want to kill himself? Because he couldn't handle the death of Nicole???? Yeah right!! Because he didn't want to spend his life in jail.

He is one sick puppy and anyone who has anything to do with him is even sicker. I feel very sorry for his kids who he no doubt has brainwashed into thinking that their mom was a horrible person and deserved to die and that HE is the greatest man to live.

What a sicko! I can't imagine what the Goldmans and the Brown family must feel like. What they have to endure. It's horrific.

Everytime they show that aweful verdict being read, I yell at everyone in the room to watch Kardashian's face.  He looked so utterly dumbfounded!  He couldn't believe OJ got off.  And, he was his friend.  I really trusted that jury to look past our skin color and our differences and to let justice be done. But, they totally tried the case on race. That was a very sad day in history.  Especially when he had nothing to do with black people, nothing. He lived surrounded by white people.  I have hoped for years that someone would kill him, but he's alive and well and smiling in the camara every chance he gets.  The bible say's he who sheds innocent blood, his blood shall be shed. ... I'm waiting patiently.

The Oj Book Battle

I've always thought he was guilty even though it took forever to have the deliberation. Me personally new there was a possibility of enrage of him not want his ex-wife with another lover. Number 2 how dare him writing a book on how he would kill his wife and putting his children through the trauma. I can't understand how a man or a person could put their children through that predicament and his in-laws for that matter.

All in all We focus too much on celeberity topic's instead of everyday topic's such as murders or mental health. Stuff like that. Take the light off of people like that. Too much is focus on them. Heck this happen years ago. I wouldn't buy the book if my life depend on it. Sorry if I sound cold hearted.  I like Dr. Phil and what he stands for but as far as OJ. I could care less what anybody thinks. Exept this OJ is a cold hearted person who doesn't have a good bone in his body. What he doesn't get on earth he'll have to pay for his sin's after life.

Good for Dad!

Quote From: cuda7001

Since the very beginning of this trial I have thought that OJ was innocent but covering for the real killer (his own son). The reason for this is that I refuse to believe that OJ would have done something like this with his own children in the house that could wake up and see him doing this at any time. He would NEVER want his children to see their mother in this manner.

Throughout the trial, I watched all the evidence and heard all the theories. But the one thing I didn't hear was that OJ's oldest son could have done it. He had always had a crush on Nicole and she just basically laughed it off as a childs imagination. For him it was real and deep and he was upset that she didn't take him seriously. The amount of passion that went into this murder was horrendous. It shows that someone that loved Nicole deeply had felt betrayed. OJ was not betrayed. they were divorced and had a good repore between themselves. It was his oldest son that carried the anger.

For all of you people that think OJ did it, think about the other possibilities. As for Ron Goldman's dad collecting the proceeds from this book or anything else of OJ's it is just plain WRONG!!!! He is cashing in on his sons death and he is collecting blood money. He does not deserve this nor does he deserve the other personal belongings of OJ's. The fact that he made changes to the book tells me this man is out for one thing and one thing only. To get rich offf someone else. He is a poor excuse for a human being and someone needs to stop him. The judges ruling in his favor really are not looking at the real story behind all his motions to collect even more profit from his son's death. He was a nobody until his son died. Now he thinks he is a real celebrity. Stop giving him what he wants. He deserves to remain a NOBODY!!!

Pam In Ohio

He deserve's everything oj owns including the bathroom tissue oj wipes his butt with!!  He is trying to cash in on money owed him by the slasher that killed his son!  Since the psychotic murderer hid his money in illegal off shore accounts and hides in a state that protects people who owe debts of this sort.  Let's all try to remember a very important point here..........he was tried in a civil court and ordered to pay Millions to the Goldman's!  oj simpson is the poor excuse for a human being!  writing a confession book after slashing two people in hopes of making money off it.

God please open the eyes of the blind!!!!!

p.s. I'm sure Mr. Goldman wishes every single day of his life he had his son back, and not to be in the public eye, or as you would put it so eloquently a nobody!

Double Jeopardy

Quote From: jannypa

If only they could reverse the rule of Double Jeopardy and put this murderer behind bars where he belongs! To try to make money by writing this confession in disguise just proves what a sociopathic ,narcissistic creep this guy is...does he talk in the book about how he's still trying to find the real "killer"???  What must their children think???

Double jeopardy is one of the finest advances of the American justice system and something to be proud of. If sometimes it lets murders like Simpson off, we just have to sadly live with it, because without it, we'd be seeing a lot of innocent people tormented.

And I think Goldman turned the corner with the book thing - it's getting really difficult to feel for him. Me, anyway.

ARE YOU OJ?

Quote From: emilec132

I think it is tragec how people presume that OJ is guilty.  After all, he was aquitted in the criminal trial.  Everyone assumes that OJ went there to kill his wife and that poor Ron Goldman happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I think that Ron was the intended victim and that OJ's wife opened the door at the wrong time.  I think it was a drug related killing.  Wasn't Ron's roommate, also, killed just shortly afterward?  Food for thought people.  How could OJ have committed such a bloody crime and not be covered in blood himself?  In the civil trial no one had to prove that he really committed the crime, only that he could have.  A lot of innocent victims are in prison today because no one had to prove that they were guilty.
