(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

Of Course He Did It

I'd like to know how the ghost writer, Pablo F, Fenjves, was chosen. He was articulate and believeable and he was also involved in the investigation. I can't believe that he was chosen by happenstance. OJ acknowledged Fenjves's involvement with the barking dog upon first meeting him. Is OJ's and Judith Regan's selection of Fenjves another slap in the face to the public?

07/02 The O.J. Book Battle

When I first heard about the book, I thought I would never read it because I didn't want OJ to get a penny of my money.  I changed my mind when I heard that the Goldmans had gotten the rights to the book.  It is crazy to think that OJ would be telling "it as it is" for all the chapters of the book.  The only chapter that wasn't "true" was when he told about the murders.  There were so many details about the murders in the book that the only conclusion you could come to was that he was there and he did do it.  I highly recommend reading this book.  It is quite telling.

Move on

The Goldmans need to move on. It is tragic what happened to their son. I feel for them because I can't imagine the pain of losing a  family member so violentley. On the other hand Its been 13 years and you re still making your lives miserable chasing after this man. You are trying to make his life miserable when in actuality you are doing just as much harm to yourself. I highly doubt Ron would want you to waste another minute of your life being bitter and angry. Seriously if i were to be killed I would not want my family to waste their lives being miserable and resentful and full of anger and hatred. I would want them to remember me as I was and get on with their lives. I'm shocked docter Phil didn't say anything about this. Good job Doc.

Amazing

I just finished watching the show about oj's book If I did it. Now the rights belong to the Goldman's which I

think it great.  I am glad that they get all the proceeds that should make people want  to read the book more to help that family for all that they have been through.  I think most people believe that O.J Simpson is guilty!!!  I know that I have always thought he was guilty but it's sad that power and being famous can sometimes let you get away with murder.  I wish all the best to the Goldman Family and I would like to thank Dr. Phil for airing it.  I hope that after all of this O.J. Simpson finally gets what he's got coming.

response to emilec 132

Quote From: emilec132

I think it is tragec how people presume that OJ is guilty.  After all, he was aquitted in the criminal trial.  Everyone assumes that OJ went there to kill his wife and that poor Ron Goldman happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I think that Ron was the intended victim and that OJ's wife opened the door at the wrong time.  I think it was a drug related killing.  Wasn't Ron's roommate, also, killed just shortly afterward?  Food for thought people.  How could OJ have committed such a bloody crime and not be covered in blood himself?  In the civil trial no one had to prove that he really committed the crime, only that he could have.  A lot of innocent victims are in prison today because no one had to prove that they were guilty.

Your response is appalling, your response truly doesn't even warrant my feedback nor anyone else's for that matter, but I cannot hold my tongue on this one.  You think because O.J. psycho Simpson was acquitted he's INNOCENT???  So you no doubt, are obviously an individual who believes the outcome of EVERY SINGLE COURTCASE is correct?  You need to read up on the hundreds upon hundreds of cases that went amuck.....just as this O.J. trial/case did.

I concur with others who've responded negatively to your post, for crying out loud, allot the Goldman family a tiny shred of respect, how dare you put the onus of this tragedy on Ron who's not here to defend himself.  You are pathetic.

Drug deal gone bad....you are ignorant.

IF this was a drug related murder, which I do not belive...but for one minute, let's just play it out...Ron Goldman would NOT have had a blasted thing to do with THAT either.  If drugs were related, it was hardly a "deal" going down...that is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.  IT would have been a "message" being sent through Nicole, to a party who crossed the wrong people.  Had Ron been a target for ANYTHING, the residence of Nicole Brown Simpson was neither the time or the place for professional goons to strike him. That poor man was not hiding out.  All he was doing was trying to live his life and had it cut short  through no fault of his!

Even operating under the drug issue being REMOTELY possible, Ron was the innocent by-stander who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That being said,  I feel that this was one of the THOUSANDS of cases that went amuck, freeing at least one guilty man, that being O.J. Simpson.  Now, did he act alone?  No one did enough of an investigation to explore that option...makes you wonder why not?

I cannot hold my tongue on this either...I'm sick of VICTIMS being accused.

Good for you!

I just finished reading the book.  Wow!  Can we just say.......Narcissist and Delusional??!!  I absolutely support the Goldman's 100%.  Who cares if it's blood money?  At least O.J. doesn't get it.  I think Ron is very proud of his family right now.   This is not about greed.    Anyone who disagrees w/the Goldman's.........I'd love to see what you would do if it was your beloved family member!  Justice was not served and this was their chance.  Good for you!

His day will come!

I missed your show on this and would love if you would air it again. I followed OJ's trail closely and feel very strongly that "he did it". My heart goes out to the Brown's, Goldman's and most of all Nichole's children. As they age and watch the actions of their father they will come to realize just what kind of monster their father really is. I believe they have seen his explusive anger many times and have been controled by him just as Nichole was. I am so happy the Goldman's have never given up their fight to prove publicly that OJ is guilty and they are due every penny from the book sale. I pray he will get the maximum sentence for his last run in with the law in Vegas and that someone in prision will get a hold of him and slash his throat to his spine, just as he did Nichole. I want his life to be taken from him just as he has taken the life of not only his victims, but of their families. The only good that has come from this is that we now have much stricker laws for domestic violence. My God help the Brown's and Goldman's find some peace and joy in their lives. Vickie

07/02 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: franko

.

I will be brief and simply say that Marcia Clark and Chris Darden were completely out performed by O. J's dream team.  They presented a week of stupefying DNA evidence that was impossible to follow even if you were university educated.

The glove didn't fit because it was wet and shrunk.  The real motive was Nicole's rejection and determination to be rid of him.  He was mad about not being invited to dinner after his daughters dance recital.  He spied upon her and saw that she brought guys back to his townhouse and she let Ron Goldman drive his Ferrari.

This was a blow to his huge ego.  He had been a revered Super Star all of his adult life.  He experienced a red hot rage when he saw Goldman and Nicole and he attacked with unbelievable fury. No one else could have been paid any amount to do that kind of butchery.

Marcia Clark missed the boat, she should have hammered away on his motive.  That is something that a jury of his peers could have understood

IMO, that particular jury was going to find O.J. innocent regardless of how the evidence was presented or how the trial went. I think that verdict was decided long before the first witness took the stand. The verdict was a miscarriage of justice. The verdict had nothing to do with the crime that O.J. committed. The jury said, "We are acquitting this man, because we CAN"

Kathleen, thanks!

It's good to know there's a few if not more of us on these boards who get it.  O.J's GUILTY end of story.

I concur, I too am sick and tired of VICTIMS being accused and revictimized over and over.  Long story short, I was a victim when I was 17 (I'm now a 44 yr. old Mom and will never be "over it") of something pretty tragic, no I did not press charges and why.....I did not want to be victimized in a COURT ROOM again whilst on the stand, the nightmare of my ordeal was enough thank you.  Times have certainly changed, it was pretty brutal back then concerning my terrible ordeal; I only hope and pray that all of those on these boards saying terrible things about those whom are DEAD, would get it and put themselves into the positions of those suffering a tragic loss of their loved ones.
