(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

jury

Quote From: popasan50

Yes He got away with Murder,The one Black Juror Woman made a Statement after the Trial that the first Day  She knew that O.J. Wasn't Guilty,so there was no way they could Convict Him,with People like that on the Juror. Just look at Him today, the way People flock around Him like He was some kind of Hero. Sick Sick People.

Yes, I agree he brought different clothes, and yes, I saw kardashian's face as well as Dominick Dunne's and the Goldmans..when the verdict was read.

The cops may have made a few mistakes but that'snot why he was aquitted. He was aquitted because he was not tried by a jury of his "peers" which would have been people in the  wealthy white community in which he lived. They moved the trial to get a jury who would not find him guilty.

The defense used Mark Furhman as a bad cop..the prosecution let them do it and a jury not of his peers bought it like a life raft thrown to a group of 12 sinking swimmers.

The sad thing is now Mark Furhman, a dedicated cop who found the evidence, can't hunt or own a firearm because he committed "perjury", and O.J. Simpson walks with more freedom than Mark Furhman.

my point of view..

Right before the OJ trial, I had been on a Federal Grand Jury, what you learn is amazing! When this trial started, I told my husband & anyone around me talking about the trial, I would not watch it, I would go with the jury's decision. The reason??? The jury only hears the evidence. They do not read papers, see newscasts, hear opinions from everyone who has a voice nor talk about the trial. They only hear what the court says is legal evidence in the trial so they only make a decision based on the evidence.

Consider if you had not heard from any family members, they are emotional position. They want & need a guilty person to focus on. If one is readily available, they will cling to this person & tell the world. Of course we feel for them, how can we not, but if we didin't hear what they say, would it make a difference?

Consider if you had not seen, over & over again, all the things shown on tv, papers, radios, interviews the opinions of experts much less those just talking, how would that have influenced your opinion if you had never heard any of it before or during the trial?

I know that OJ is not guilty because of the jury. That is all I can base my decision on. I know people wondered why the jury voted inoccent, maybe that is the reason, based on what they heard & saw... the facts only.

In my opinion, I think his civil rights were trampled on. He was tried by public opinion & will never be anything but guilty to the majority of people.

Please do not assume I am a liberal thinker, I'm not. I am not in my general thinking or opinions. But I look at the Jury System & pray, if I am ever in a situation where I am judged by that system & an inoccent person, that I can live my life inoccent if judged that way by my peers.

Not a jury of his peers

Quote From: stefanko

The jury had to believe he was innocent within the framework of evidence they were given. The system worked in that he was given due process by a jury of his peers. The system is not flawless or we wouldn't have convictions overturned years later by things like DNA. He was given the benefit of the doubt to be innocent until proven guilty. It was a hard fought uphill battle for the prosecution to prove he was guilty. A battle which they lost. I would suggest to you that this battle fails in comparrison to the battle you would face if you tried to convince the public he is innocent.

I've said it before in other replies but it's worth repeating....the man was not tried by a jury of his peers.  He should have been tried in the county in which he lived, and the jury should have been made up of the people who lived in that community. it was NOT an uphill battle for the prosecution. They just handed it over to the defense.

O.J. Book Battle

I am feeling a great sadness for OJ's children. To even think that he writes this book probably to increase his depleating finances. But to scar the children even though they are older they loved their mom. I wonder in their minds if they are thinking did dad really kill our mom, and then to write about how he did it?

His children

Quote From: prisilla47

He murdered them and got away with it. He thinks he is above all else and cannot be punished. The man has a definite mental problem. I feel for his children. They also know he's a killer.

I always wondered what they heard....they were upstairs asleep. Or maybe not asleep..the murders happened after a very eventful day for them and apparently they weren't home very long, maybe a couple of hours, before the killings. I never heard if the police talked to them; I'm sure they did; but I never heard what they said they knew or didn't know. It was a small space; between two people being killed and a dog barking.....did they wake up?

Anyone know about that?

OJ's Children

I think it is sad that OJ would not consider the feelings of his children when undertaking this book. I have not read it so I can only offer my novice opinion concerning a few details that I have heard. Taking that into consideration why would he write specific details of a crime that crushed his childrens lives and his??

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Double jeopardy is an illegal violation of justice, and in this case, double jeopardy thinking is the by-product of resentment and pure bigoted hatred

OJ Book and his guilt or innocence

Since the very beginning of this trial I have thought that OJ was innocent but covering for the real killer (his own son). The reason for this is that I refuse to believe that OJ would have done something like this with his own children in the house that could wake up and see him doing this at any time. He would NEVER want his children to see their mother in this manner.

Throughout the trial, I watched all the evidence and heard all the theories. But the one thing I didn't hear was that OJ's oldest son could have done it. He had always had a crush on Nicole and she just basically laughed it off as a childs imagination. For him it was real and deep and he was upset that she didn't take him seriously. The amount of passion that went into this murder was horrendous. It shows that someone that loved Nicole deeply had felt betrayed. OJ was not betrayed. they were divorced and had a good repore between themselves. It was his oldest son that carried the anger.

For all of you people that think OJ did it, think about the other possibilities. As for Ron Goldman's dad collecting the proceeds from this book or anything else of OJ's it is just plain WRONG!!!! He is cashing in on his sons death and he is collecting blood money. He does not deserve this nor does he deserve the other personal belongings of OJ's. The fact that he made changes to the book tells me this man is out for one thing and one thing only. To get rich offf someone else. He is a poor excuse for a human being and someone needs to stop him. The judges ruling in his favor really are not looking at the real story behind all his motions to collect even more profit from his son's death. He was a nobody until his son died. Now he thinks he is a real celebrity. Stop giving him what he wants. He deserves to remain a NOBODY!!!

O. J Book Battle

Quote From: jannypa

If only they could reverse the rule of Double Jeopardy and put this murderer behind bars where he belongs! To try to make money by writing this confession in disguise just proves what a sociopathic ,narcissistic creep this guy is...does he talk in the book about how he's still trying to find the real "killer"???  What must their children think???
I don't know if he did it or not, he was not convicted, but is still being treated like a criminal. There are alot of people out there that have killed and gotten away with it,however I don't see them being dragged through the mud. I am sick and tired of the hold thing. I am sorry for both families, but it wasn't proven that he did the muders. So leave the man alone. I don't care what happens to him but I am tired of people talking about this murder, and no one but the person who killed them know the facts. if he did do it the only person that can punish  him is god. So get over it people there are alot of muders out there that have not been solved. and I am sure this won't be the last. " what happen to innocent until proven guility"

OH Please!!!

Quote From: emilec132

I think it is tragec how people presume that OJ is guilty.  After all, he was aquitted in the criminal trial.  Everyone assumes that OJ went there to kill his wife and that poor Ron Goldman happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I think that Ron was the intended victim and that OJ's wife opened the door at the wrong time.  I think it was a drug related killing.  Wasn't Ron's roommate, also, killed just shortly afterward?  Food for thought people.  How could OJ have committed such a bloody crime and not be covered in blood himself?  In the civil trial no one had to prove that he really committed the crime, only that he could have.  A lot of innocent victims are in prison today because no one had to prove that they were guilty.

Anyone who watched that court proceedings on TV would have seen that OJ was guilty as sin! I think that the fact that he was acquitted only proves that if you throw enough money at the law you can get away with murder!!!!!
