(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: dollface54

Im sorry but enough is enoug already.....im really really disappointed that Dr. Phil has this show on today ....
Firstly whether OJ tdid it or not is for God to know now else at this point....the man was found not guildty 13 years ago,....let sleeping dogs lie.....As for the Goldmans'  I am sorry for there lost....but i truly believe they need therapy, not more publicity on the obsession...and yes i have lost someone tragically in my life ...but u have to know when to let go....and they dont...they just dont...i dont know how they live with tthemselves day in and day out...
I watched the whole trial years ago...the whole close to a year on tv.....if they want to be mad at anyone it should be the cops and the prosecution for the dropping the ball badly...they had inept ppl prosecuting the case...Marcia clark always looked uncomfortable and she was set up against defence attorneys that can chew her up and spit her out and that's what happened...and lets face it there was things that just didnt add up....as far as this book.........WHO CARES!!!!!
its sensationalism that's all iI can see....The Goldmans's trying to get their hands and there money that they sued for....this ghost writer Pablo...that didnt get the limelight years ago and see his chance now ...who says what he says his true...we only have his word on what he says went on during the interviews...again more allegations.......
Im sorry Dr. Phil...i really am a fan of yours but today im disgusted...Nicole and Ron are dead lets leave them there in peace and quiet.....who killed them??? who knows??? we never will......Goldmans cant find anyone else to blame so they accuse OJ...did he do it ....dont know and dont care at this point.....he was found not guilty and that's it....leave it alone.....
Im not the only that 's sick and tired of hearing about Nicole and Ron's death years ago...I dont care anymore and lots of others dont either....
And by having this show u are only giving more publicity to a man that u all believe commited murder again supposion and inuendoes is all it is.....show the proof ....unfortunately something no one has...so there fore leave it alone...are there not more important things that could be accomplished....

I have an idea spend the hour giving tthe Goldman advice on getting therapy...u can see it in there faces the hate and the anger is still there just as vivid as 13 years ago....im sorry that's not normal...no where close normal.   They talk about OJ being unstable....these people worry me more than he does at this point...
Having this show is giving th ebook publicity so more people will run out and buy it, which is exactly what the Goldman want so they can collect there money....which i find creapy.....b/c no money in the world would ever replace the person i lost tragically 15 years ago . no money whatsoever....yet these people seem bent on getting all they can...they say it's to make sure OJ dont get it....who cares and why should they care at this point....GOLDMANS NEED TO GO ON WITH THERE LIVES...and the ghost writer ....well i hope he gets what he wants out of this which is publicity and limelight and  money from what i can see.....
Please Dr. Phil let's step up a bit and have more interesting shows...i know there coming up ....

You took the words right out of my mouth!  I do understand what happened to the Goldman's was a tragedy.  But they really do need healing and peace.   I believe OJ is arrogant and is hurting his children by being selfish, however, spending the last 13 years trying to get revenge and money from him is not worth your peace of mind and spirit.  I also respect Dr. Phil, however, I think he shouldn't have said anything about what he thought, whether or not OJ confessed.  If the man was aquitted by the court, then let it be.  Only God knows if OJ did it or not and on Judgement day he will be held accountable.  If he didn't do it, he should have immediately asked for forgiveness from both the Brown and Goldman families for what happened if they believed he did it or not.  As for the writer,Pablo Fenjves, why would you want to associate or sit across from a man whom you believed as quilty?  I wouldn't have given him the time of day.  The Goldman's need to pray and ask that God can find it in their hearts to forgive OJ and go on living.  They don't have to 'like' OJ but in order for them to "be well",forgiveness needs to happen.  I pray Dr. Phil can help in getting them counseling.  God Bless everyone!

Move Forward

I can't begin to imagine the horror and suffering of any family who lost a member to a violent death.  That said, I also believe that it is time for the Goldman family to follow the lead the Brown family has taken and move forward.  I know that they will never forget their loved one and that they will live with the pain of their loss for the rest of their lives, however, it is time to make the best of the present and look forward to the future.  The saddest part is that they look like "professional mourners," who long for the limelight and tons of attention.

As for the Johnny Cochran Statement... thanks to TIVO, I have looked at that portion at least 4 times.  According to Miss Goldman, Mr. Cochran simply turned around and looked at her as if to say "Gotcha", he did not utter a word.  I honestly believe if he had said anything or even looked in her direction at that time, the Goldmans would have been shouting it from the rooftops at the beginning.  As others have stated, he is not here to defend himself and it was very low of her to say that.  I also believe that it is every attorney's job to vigoursly defend their client regardless of the crime or the outcome and that is what OJ's legal team did.

The Media

Quote From: kellejc

I would think that O. J. would want to stay out of the limelight after getting away with such a horrendous crime.  I think he is the epitome of arrogant!

How about the media stop chasing him and throwing a mike in front of the Goldman's everytime there is an OJ sighting.  I am sick of OJ and doubly sick of the Goldmans.  What happened to their son was horrible, but they are not the only one in the world that lost a family member to murder although they would make you think they are.

OJ is Guilty but not of murder

Quote From: jannypa

You wonder why he wasn't covered in blood....he brought different dark clothing...Nicole's and Ron's blood was found in the Bronco and in his shower...The reason he was acquitted was because by playing the race card, the jury IGNORED the mountains of evidence pointing to only one killer, OJ Simpson...I'm sure if they had an actual video of the killing, that ignorant jury still would have acquitted him!
I would encourage you to read a book written by Bill Dear called "OJ is Guilty but not of Murder" Bill is a private Investigator who has more than 30 years experience and spent more than 6 years investigating OJ. He documents very throughly how he thinks the murder was committed and who did it. The Los Angeles District Attorney is not interested in re-opening the case and the real killer may never be charged. I am amazed at how 12 Jurors can not convict OJ yet many people still assume that OJ is guilty. I challenge you to read Mr Dear's book then make your assumption of guilt.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: texas46

I have read this book and have seen the autopsy photos. OJ's description of the crime does not match much of the evidence, he was not there untl after the murders.
Umm, are you an expert in forensics, or perhaps a crime scene investigator?  If not I can't imagine how you could draw such a conclusion.

OJ

Dr. Phil

I normally agree with everything you do or say. We are usually always on the same page. I watched your show the O.J. Book Battle and i couldn't believe that you were endorsing this book. My heart goes out to Ron's family but I think its time for them to move on. I think they only want  money, if OJ was a gas station attendant would they still be going after his 300 dollar pay check i don't think so? They claim that the book was so bad when OJ was getting the money, but now that they are getting the money from book all of a sudden everyone should read it. I don't care if they get a 1/2cent for every 200 books sold its still blood money. Why you didn't have someone there to speak on OJ's behalf? Its also very convenient  to tell everyone that Johnny Cochran said something when he's not able to defend himself .

Sunshine where have you been if you think the judicial system is about justice or right and wrong?  The gives you what you can afford.  We shouldn't be pissed at OJ or any of the others whom we feel got away with something but focus our energy on a system that sells itself.

PATHETIC AND SENSELESS

Its about time we take the spotlight out of O.J. We are giving more publicity and power to him,and we don't realize that there are people out there who believe in him and they support him and his book is sold and he doesn't seem to disappear. Why do we even bother or care to keep him in the news all the time. The Goldman should back off and get out of his life altogether its time to move on,because theres nothing they can do, to bring their son back.If we leave him alone, forget him and don't even mentione or follow him around, keep him in isolation and keep him out of the spotlight he will die away slowly. What is going on now, is that people want to get even with him through money.Money was not the real cause of the deaths that happen. The money that you will get out of him is dirty money. We should also remember that O.J. has children who are the innocent party in all of this circus and we should consider them in all this war that is going on,how they feel about their dad its only them to answere and decide, for themselves.
