(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

Not tired

Quote From: lisa_noe

that the media is willing to spend time, and energy on a sad soul as O.J. is!!!

He did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  and got away with it.  what else to ad to that!  The whole world knows his story already, as a matter of fact, we are tired of his storyies.

so no................ this book will not be one that Ill encourage!

Elisabeth

Yes we should be tired, but he is trying soo hard to skirt responsibility for his actions, the media has done a good job in my opinion, he can't hold a semblence of his former stature,  so he finally is showing how much the guilt is getting to him with this book offer. i say buy the book now, to support the proper persons that were victims of him, Great job Goldmans, it takes true guts and to continue to pursue this. Also I'm glad the ghostwriter agreed to be interviewed, what another bombshell, and spirit for the truth to be told.

PLEASE buy the book, now the proceeds go to the Goldmans and Family of Nichole Brown. What an unbelievably hard decision to make, publish such a pathetic Idea from O.J. Simpson for his self interest, and in my Opinion, a way to stick it to and hurt the Goldmans for pursuing him so tirelessly. It really makes me feel that victims can enjoy some semblence of justice from such a horrible act. O.J. to you use the media to make the confession like a man, and give your kids some pride back in their name.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: spsaylor

I was just wandering who designed the book title. Why is the word "IF" so small? If you where not guilty wouldn't you want this word to be at least as large or larger than the rest? I'm confused. Does this mean something or is it just me?

The book OJ wanted to publish had a title with IF being part of the title.  As Dr. Phil mentioned, he feels this book is a confession.  The published book under the Goldman's direction wanted to minimize the hypothetical nature of the title (If) and put the boldness of "I Did It" loud and clear.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: mira_jo

I think this is all very ridiculous, the Goldman family are greedy and bitter.  They lost a love one and so has millions of other people in the world, but those grieving people don't go around suing all of those accused of a crime.  He was found not guilty by a jury of his peers.  The jury did not find beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the crimes for which he was  accused.  As harsh as this may sound the Goldman's should do themselves a favor and move on, let God be the final judge of O.J. Simpson.  Devoting your life to persecuting a man that has been found not guilty is not what his son would want.  If O.J. did it he is not the first murderer to walk.

This just publicizes that if we don't have faith in the Criminal Justice system what do we have? Instead of being a vigilante and physically attacking O.J, Simpson, he is attacking him financially and publicly.  The actions of the Goldman family in itself is a form of vigilante justice that should not allowed.  Then for them to openly brag about how they went after a "Rolex" watch is despicable.  It is people like this that make a mockery of their deceased loved ones and make a mockery of our judicial system.    I think the Goldman family has gotten enough glory and publicity off of their deceased son and brother and its time for their limelight to come to an end.

Well said.

karma and OJ Simpson

Anyone interested in the legal machinations of the '94-95  pre-trial and trial of OJ Simpson might find Assisting Prosecutor Chris Darden's book, IN CONTEMPT,  interesting.  Marcia Clark also has a great book out.  These people gave their all, working 14 hr. days for months on end.

There is no way these two murders could have been committed by anyone other than Mr. OJ.  Mark Fuhrman could not have planted blood evidence.  This was a trial so egregiously erronenously  defended by  Johnnie Cochran,  who  preferred  the butcher OJ Simpson over his own Black brother, the admirable and talented Chris Darden, that we the public society are forever offended and outraged.

Good for the Goldmans, that they might recover some part of their loss, especially in light of the fact it could be forcing OJ's hand.  It is not their job to "protect" the children of  Nicole and OJ.  I feel they are very unfortunate to have this fate handed to them, but it is certainly not right to single out the father and sister of the other victim, a hero who died trying to help Nicole, as being in any way incorrect in seeking some sort of recompense or justice.  They certainly didn't get it at the mock "trial of the century."

I hope they jail OJ for these recent crimes for the rest of his life.  Otherwise, how will the rest of us be able to live our lives in safety with this thing walking around?  I'm sorry, OJ, football player celebrity that he is, IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW.

we can't respect the verdict because some of us wonder how they were paid for their vote, also we all know that there are serious problems with our current "system".  It seems to work better for the guilty than it does for the innocent.  and he is living proof of that.
The verdict should be respected because it has been handed down by the citizens selected to serve on that jury. More often than not, the system works. It only stops working when we stop believing it can work. Is our justice system perfect? NO. Does it have flaws and loop holes? Yes. Complaining about it on the Dr. Phil message board isn't going to change anything.

I believe Johnny cochran made that gesture and comment just like he told the prosecuting team not to put that white boy on trial ( the cop who was on tape using the N word ) It was spoken about on Oprah a couple of months ago. He used the words Don't put that white boy on the stand to the other african american attorney on the prosecuting team.  Im sad that Johnny is not around anymore he was a brilliant lawyer to bad he never used his powers as a prosecutor.  Wonder whos gonna get OJ off this time?
Very sad If Cochran did make that gesture and comment. Very serious problems with what defense attornies can get away with, not sure how to fix it, but they can know by the evidence, there client is guilty, and instead of trying to make him not guilty by reason of insanity, which he was, it was a rage killing, O.J. was not a homicidal guy I don't think. They go after legalities to get him off, and muddy the facts. Atrocious!!!!!

I AGREE

Quote From: kporche

I watched the show today and although at the time of this trial i believed that OJ was framed. i have since had a change of heart regrading this. With that said the statement that Ron's Goldman's sister made regarding Johnnie Cochran was totally uncalled for I don't believe for one moment that he turned to her after the verdict and did what she said. I think that she is just bitter because he did his JOB and was successful at it. SHOW ME THE FOOTAGE OF HIM DOING THAT AND THEM I WILL BELIEVE HER. Since she said it was right after the verdict was read that he turned to her and did that PROVE IT. Now you are trying to slander the name of a DEAD man who can't defend his self. If he did that why not bring it up in the countless interviews that you have done in the last 13 plus years. Don't try and ruin a man's reputation because he did his job.

I AGREE TOTALLY. AFTER HEARING THE VERDICT SHE (KIM) WAS IN A SHOCK. SHE COULD HAVE IMAGINED IT. YOUR RIGHT SHE HAD YEAR TO CONFRONT JOHNNY & SPEAK OUT ON THIS.
THE GOLDMAN'S HAD COUNTLESS INTERVIEWS
NEVER SAID A WORD. SHE TRYING TO RUIN A DEAD MAN'S REPUTATION.

Proof the Courts conspire to let OJ go free.

       October 15, 2007

Dr. Phil,
Ref: OJ Simpson:   The untold truth not in  “if  I DID IT”
Buy a pair of unlined leather gloves ,soak one glove in water, roll it up and let it dry for a few month. Then try to put it on; it will not fit over your fingers. *

Judge Ito, Marsha Clark and Chris Darden, the dream team and others conspired to make sure OJ was found “Not Guilty” before the trial ended..

Illegal court activity:
It was illegal to call OJ as a witness with out due process, also sworn to testify as a witness in a court of law and openly crossed examines by all attorneys.

OJ was allowed  to testify on international TV with  out being called as a legal witness; He put on the bloody glove, Johnny just happen to have a latex glove in court that day, with the slick reply: if the glove don‘t fit you must acquit.. The DA office arranged to have the glove in court that day, they told the dream team in advance. Who believes Johnny C. instantly made up “if the glove don’t fit you must acquit.

* Take your dried glove, try to put it on over a latex glove, Then soak the same glove in water, put your hand in it (with out a latex glove) and the formerly dried glove will fit.

The cell phone company could have told the DA if the call switch to more than one switch, show the call was made while moving.

The Nicole carpet fiber found in OJ’s car was not allowed as evidence by Judge Ito because the dream team must review the fiber for 30 days, instead of the DA giving the fiber to the dream team for 30 days, Judge Ito disallowed the fiber being entered as evidence.

The blood expert for the dream team (Dr. Lee) was the Districts Attorneys blood expert in their future case, if the DA discredited Dr. Lee ,his value as their future blood expert would be useless.

Mark Ferman could have said he used the “N word a long time ago but not recently,  The DA blood expert said, OJ’s DNA would match one other person in 6 Billion. or a total of 2 people in the world ( OJ and 1 person out of 6 Billion (6 ,000,000,000)

I could go on, but this is the summary:

The Supreme Court of the United States allows any  Judge in any court in the United States (even traffic) court) to change a witness testimony from innocent to guilty, remove testimony, add testimony not entered as evidence, remove you Bill of Rights before the trial start, find you guilty before your trial starts. Every court including the Supreme Court is considered an independent country not under the Constitution. Democracy means every one has the same right to buy as much democracy as they can afford, the more you buy the more you get.

To keep the major US cities from riots if OJ was found guilty, the courts not the jury let him go FREE.

I sent a copy of this information to the Brown family web site who replied they believe it could be very true and posted  this information in their web site.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: momsbj

I can't begin to imagine the horror and suffering of any family who lost a member to a violent death.  That said, I also believe that it is time for the Goldman family to follow the lead the Brown family has taken and move forward.  I know that they will never forget their loved one and that they will live with the pain of their loss for the rest of their lives, however, it is time to make the best of the present and look forward to the future.  The saddest part is that they look like "professional mourners," who long for the limelight and tons of attention.

As for the Johnny Cochran Statement... thanks to TIVO, I have looked at that portion at least 4 times.  According to Miss Goldman, Mr. Cochran simply turned around and looked at her as if to say "Gotcha", he did not utter a word.  I honestly believe if he had said anything or even looked in her direction at that time, the Goldmans would have been shouting it from the rooftops at the beginning.  As others have stated, he is not here to defend himself and it was very low of her to say that.  I also believe that it is every attorney's job to vigoursly defend their client regardless of the crime or the outcome and that is what OJ's legal team did.

amen to that

It's everyone's job to protect the children. Inspite of their parents. These children did not decide to be born and they did not choose their mother or father. If this book will do any damage or if it has the possibility to hurt them in any way, it should not be published.
