(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

abuse

Quote From: justpasingthru

The Goldman family has been tortured by the loss of their son & brother for 13 years.  I've never been in their shoes, I can only imagine the pain they are going through.  However, if I were brutally murdered, my hope and prayer would be that my family do everything possible... not to attempt to "make the killer pay" but to try to heal, and find whatever peace they can.  To know they were still holding on so tightly to anger and rage would not "make me proud" as Dr. Phil suggested, but would make me sad.

Denise Brown is doing amazing work on behalf of abused women; she has found a way to honor her sister, and seems to have found some measure of peace within this horrible tragedy.  I can only hope and pray that the Goldman family will eventually do the same.
It's amazing how that bastard ruined so many lives. The Goldmans are still in the healing process and anger is based on hurt. I doubt their hurt will ever diminish. However, I have some things for feedback and that Dr. Phil should ponder- do you honestly think Sydney and Justin are living their lives to their full potential, considering how their father has been unfavorable in the public eye? If Sydney and Justin were in favor of OJ doing the book (as taken from the show), then I think they may have been manipulated to some extent. I can certainly see that OJ is a sociopath, so I can only imagine what spin he puts on this. Denise Brown is in an unfavorable situation, as the kids are her family and being publicly opposed to this could cause tension in a situation that cannot be unchanged. I admire her and the Goldman's work, but they are so struggling for a huge movement- and that is the action. As a society, no amount of work that 1 or 3 people do can make a significant difference if there is no response to motivate from the society. I think the BEST thing they can do is to go on these TV shows, Dr. Phil, Oprah, Ellen, etc and continue to ask for the public support. Dr. Phil is respected and should be on with them when they tell their side, so that he can analyze the book and killer further. He made some serious headway in translating the book and the killer and I think that will be the best offense to turn our society around. Isn't it said that most people know who Michael Jordan is, but not Dick Cheny? The TV has the power now, it's sad, but true.

What about Nicole's Kids?

It was painful to watch the Goldmans as they elaborated on the torture and grief that continues to plague them.  I was also struck by their total disregard or mention of anything they are doing to support a fellow griever.:  Denise Brown.  Do they think Ron's life was more important than Nicole's?  Do they think the effect of keeping the scandal in the papers will soothe the trauma of the children Nicole left behind?  Imagine the conflict they must have.  "Who killed mommy?  Was it Daddy?"  Vengeance is mine saith the Lord.  O.J is getting his payback due to the power of  kharma and it was not because of the Goldmans.  It was because of the enormous narcissism and ego of O.J. and his lack of accountability as a human being. I hope the victims of this situation can drop some of the burden of hate and move to resolution.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: grammasmarty

Personally I watched all 10 months of the trial.... every moment.  I don't believe I saw anything that the jury was not privy to.  To have been in that courtroom and in the midst of someone soooo charismatic as O.J.'s attorney's... all of them and the lack luster attorney's for the prosecution there is no wonder that the jury came back as they did.... not guilty.  Having said that,  I have to say that I wept and was in shock for years that the jury came back "not guilty".  I don't blame the jury, or the judge.... I blame the county for not fighting "fire with fire" and bringing in someone just as charismatic as Johnny Cochran and the team assembled.  When Mr. Cochran said "if the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" the jury had no alternative, because the prosecution was drab and wasn't equipped with any rebuttal for that one instruction from the defense, the jury had no choice.  I and let me repeat.... I could have done a better job with my 9th grade education in prosecution against O.J.  The fact that no glove that is fitted, will go on your hand when you are wearing latex gloves, no matter how hard you try...... well..... I knew the state lost it's case.  When it went to jury......... the outcome was not surprising.  It was the end of my marriage, since my husband loved to joke around with me about "putting an O.J. whooping on my ass" and since O.J. got away with it, well..... I had no choice but to leave.  It's still, to this day, a very painful sore to me and I can very much appreciate the pain the Goldman family goes through as well as the Brown family.  My hope is that the children of Nicole and O.J. don't make their children pay for it.  God Bless them all.

I completeley agree! O.J can have a "Dream Team" of 7-8 defense attorneys????????? Were the heck was the prosecution? They knew what they were up against, Our tax dollars pay for all the other bullcrap, why not a  large group of prosecuters ? What exactly was the county doing ? They knew we had to fight "Fire with Fire"And with that said ,Shame on them because as I am sure plenty of people feel... I or we could have put together a better fight ... I can not imagine at all the pain the Brown/ and Goldman family felt as they watched  O.J not only get away with murder, but to watch our system allow it, when a stronger fight could have and should have been fought for less then the total $$$ that have been accumulated on media coverage since this tragic event!

A travesty---not justice

Quote From: emilec132

I think it is tragec how people presume that OJ is guilty.  After all, he was aquitted in the criminal trial.  Everyone assumes that OJ went there to kill his wife and that poor Ron Goldman happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I think that Ron was the intended victim and that OJ's wife opened the door at the wrong time.  I think it was a drug related killing.  Wasn't Ron's roommate, also, killed just shortly afterward?  Food for thought people.  How could OJ have committed such a bloody crime and not be covered in blood himself?  In the civil trial no one had to prove that he really committed the crime, only that he could have.  A lot of innocent victims are in prison today because no one had to prove that they were guilty.

It does not matter what we "think" but what the Court does with the evidence.   EVIDENCE!

An aquittal means nothing when the man is the true murderer.  It just means the jury was deceived.

There is no evidence that these murders were drug-related.

Courts/juries make mistakes.  They are human beings.  Juries let murderers walk, free; and juries imprison innocent people.   That is why we have an appellate process.

The burden of proof is on the State in a criminal trial;  but that proof will not withstand a tainted jury.

Today, DNA can help wrongly-convicted people get out of jail.

Let us not pretend to know the facts or evidence.   Bloody clothes are easily disposed,  just as these two beautiful people were destroyed.   Only a sociopath without a conscience can kiil and walk away.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: billharker

I'm sorry, I do not feel any more sorry for the Goldmans any more than I feel for any other victims family. O.J. is not the sharpest tool on the sheds, and seems to be around the bend mentally (too many head tackles?

BUT, at the time of the murder, Ron was estranged from the rest of the family, cast out as a bad son and brother for his lifestyle. He gets murdered and it is the greatest tragedy since Macbeth. The "loving" family gathers round like wounded puppies (granted, they will NEVER be able to patch up their differences). OJ was found innocent by a jury of his peers and later found guilty in a wrongful death civil suit.

It appears to me that the Goldman's new idea of justice is the same old idea of justice since the Egyptians. Money. Pure and simple. Money. The Goldmans were never well to do and Mr. Goldman and his daughter come across that the death of his son and her brother is a financial gold mine.

Where are the Browns? Moving on with their lives. Mr Goldman gets all choked up on the show about details in the book. Don't read the damn thing. They has it shut down once, and when the GOLDMANS found out the GOLDMANS could make money, they went to court to get the book published.

Mr. Goldman is not pushed by the tragedy of their son's death. They are pushed by one simple emotion:

GREED

Whatever the motive is(civil suit) and I beleive it is out of love and justice for their son/brother.Shame on you!!!!!!!and who the hell are you to pass judgement . I cannot believe you would say and I quote

"Mr. Goldman is not pushed by the tragedy of their son's death. They are pushed by one simple emotion:"

GREED

I believe their pushed by the fact  that this sick monster would not only make a profit from the book but the book that he in fact details his sick and disgusting crime would be published! Well your Damn right if any one is entitled to the profit its the families surrounding this sick murderer who took their loved ones from them.

I really hate when people like you complain about the victoms families  being GREEDY! WALK IN THEIR SHOES! Every family has arguments but good GOD if a family member of mine was murdered after an argument even if it were for 1 week or 1 year. I just can not understand your remarks, and ya know...maybe its because you dont like your family or they dont like you?dont pass judgement here you dont know the situation with Ron and his family

Hows that feel??? not good huh?

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: drpd52

I have a problem with people not dealing  out equal justice under the law, I did not

agree with the criminal verdict but it was a verdict, how can we as a people

make a law and not respect the law for certain people, he was aquitted/not guilty

and yet he is still being tried every day since the verdict, the Browns& Goldmans

are justifiably angry but sadly they need to let go and let God fight their battle

because the battle is not theirs but the Lord

IT'S NOT THE BROWN'S IT'S THE GOLDMAN'S STIRRING UP THIS MESS. O.J. STARTED THIS WITH THE BOOK. THE GOLDMAN'S FALL RIGHT INTO HIS TRAP. THEY GOT THE RIGHTS TO THE BOOK AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD AT THAT MOMENT. BUT NO THEY HAD TO PUBLISH IT. CAUSING MORE DRAMA. BY BACKSTABBING & BETRAYING THE BROWNS. THE BROWN'S NEVER SPEAK OUT ON O.J.. BECAUSE THEY HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO WITH THEIR LIVES.
SOMETHING THE GOLDMAN'S NEED

A LIFE

ITS ALL ABOUT RACE ANYWAY

Quote From: larrye2001

       October 15, 2007

Dr. Phil,
Ref: OJ Simpson:   The untold truth not in  if  I DID IT
Buy a pair of unlined leather gloves ,soak one glove in water, roll it up and let it dry for a few month. Then try to put it on; it will not fit over your fingers. *

Judge Ito, Marsha Clark and Chris Darden, the dream team and others conspired to make sure OJ was found Not Guilty before the trial ended..

Illegal court activity:
It was illegal to call OJ as a witness with out due process, also sworn to testify as a witness in a court of law and openly crossed examines by all attorneys.

OJ was allowed  to testify on international TV with  out being called as a legal witness; He put on the bloody glove, Johnny just happen to have a latex glove in court that day, with the slick reply: if the glove dont fit you must acquit.. The DA office arranged to have the glove in court that day, they told the dream team in advance. Who believes Johnny C. instantly made up if the glove dont fit you must acquit.

* Take your dried glove, try to put it on over a latex glove, Then soak the same glove in water, put your hand in it (with out a latex glove) and the formerly dried glove will fit.

The cell phone company could have told the DA if the call switch to more than one switch, show the call was made while moving.

The Nicole carpet fiber found in OJs car was not allowed as evidence by Judge Ito because the dream team must review the fiber for 30 days, instead of the DA giving the fiber to the dream team for 30 days, Judge Ito disallowed the fiber being entered as evidence.

The blood expert for the dream team (Dr. Lee) was the Districts Attorneys blood expert in their future case, if the DA discredited Dr. Lee ,his value as their future blood expert would be useless.

Mark Ferman could have said he used the N word a long time ago but not recently,  The DA blood expert said, OJs DNA would match one other person in 6 Billion. or a total of 2 people in the world ( OJ and 1 person out of 6 Billion (6 ,000,000,000)

I could go on, but this is the summary:

The Supreme Court of the United States allows any  Judge in any court in the United States (even traffic) court) to change a witness testimony from innocent to guilty, remove testimony, add testimony not entered as evidence, remove you Bill of Rights before the trial start, find you guilty before your trial starts. Every court including the Supreme Court is considered an independent country not under the Constitution. Democracy means every one has the same right to buy as much democracy as they can afford, the more you buy the more you get.

To keep the major US cities from riots if OJ was found guilty, the courts not the jury let him go FREE.

I sent a copy of this information to the Brown family web site who replied they believe it could be very true and posted  this information in their web site.

When O.J. writes another book in 5 years titled..." LISTEN YOU IDIOTS, I REALLY DID IT"

People would still not believe him.  This case is and always will be about RACE.

PERIOD...

Seriously?

Quote From: fromflorida

How can the Goldman's be "JUST" as wrong as OJ???  In my opinion, the evidence clearly demostrates that OJ murdered!! The jury (which, to me, didn't seem very reasonable but rather, unable to see past OJ's football career and "so-called" charisma) concluded that the case was not proven beyond a "reasonable" doubt.  In my opinion, it is not wrong for the families to do something positive with this horrible situation.  And, if anyone is going to profit of the book, I would say it should be any foundation that is set up for victims of these types of violent crimes.  It is hard to say "OJ" and the innocent family members in the same sentence.  OJ lost nobody about which he cared...but, what about Ron's family??? since the show was about them...yes, they did.  Furthermore, didn't the families of Ron and Nicole TRY to stop the publishing of the book?  I thought so.

jayp221 are you kidding me? If the Goldmans did not go after the puplication and profits of this book O.J would have been able to publish and profit...........so geeee, who should get the proceeds??? the victoms family( keep in mind they did not ask the sick monster who killed their son to write this book!)or the sick person himself??I feel like I am repeating myself ...........People, understand, the Goldman family is only blocking O.J. from making or having any money to enjoy off this double  murder he committed.

Don't be so sure!

Quote From: prisilla47

He murdered them and got away with it. He thinks he is above all else and cannot be punished. The man has a definite mental problem. I feel for his children. They also know he's a killer.
I wouldn't assume that OJ's children know their dad is guilty of anything.  I've taught young children for over 27 years and one thing I can tell you is that no matter how unconscionable the parents' behavior may be or how pathological the situation may be at home, most children WANT to believe that their parents are good and righteous in spite of signs that point otherwise.  I've had kids throughout the years who've had one or both parents in jail and these children want so desperately to believe in the fairytale family that they will often believe that the "system" that separated them from their parents is wrong and evil.  We as a society will be lucky if OJ's children grow up to face the truth and attempt to compensate by doing some good for humanity.  They have a tremendous cross to bear.  Time will tell.
