(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: ssmcgill

How would anyone ever truely know if this guy really killed his wife and her friend?  I have alot of mixed feelings on it< For starters, with all due respect it does sounds like nicole suffered from loss of self knowing, and she had missed the important steps of learning and growing wthin herself and peers,,

from marrying a much older man,Its almost like you skip thse important years of gathering what one needs to carry further on to each step that is ascending before you and to fit in and make life ok you just change your skin and without knowing it you have become 20 years older than you are over nite!

<Like any human being, the point of reliseation is always is truthful and hurtful. Its one that wakes you up grabs you by the collar and smacks you in the face and all of a sudden you panic cause you havent go the skills to deal with it, you instantly go back to that place of innoence and nievety and start again, except we all deal wth it differently!  I think it was a huge rollar coaster for the two of these people and those poor kids, O J seems Like an ordinary person that just tried to do all the best by them all and like anyone it just wore him down and got to that wearing point. sometimes there is just a point that someone who wont except help, and you dont now what to do for them anymore,is just unbearable to be around. He watched his wife go through so many differnt personalities and being wth other men.It doesnt mean he did it!

Im not saying that murder is right,(its aweful) im simply saying who are we to judge and insert our lifes opinions on someones character and family situation.

There is alot of ingredients to this sad story

THERE IS NO WAY  THAT A PERSON COULD KNOW SUCH DETAILED INFORMATION UNLESS THEY WERE THERE. I THINK CARMA HAS FINALLY GOTTEN HIM AND HE IS STARTING TO UNRAVEL AS THE GOLDMAN FAMILY STATES. THAT MAN IS A KILLER, HE THINKS HE'S ABOVE THE LAW AND WHAT THE HECK WAS HE DOING IN LAS VEGAS??? THE MAN IS TWISTED AND TWO LIVES WERE LOST BECAUSE OF IT, AND DR, PHIL HAS BEEN IN THE PYSCHOLOGY FIELD FOR THIRTY YEARS WITH ALSO EXPERIENCE IN THE LITIGATION ARENA.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: trinitee

I had hit enter by accident before I finished my message.

I left off saying that doing evil for evil is wrong.  If OJ did the crime believe you me he will suffer for it, but the Goldman's method is foolish to me.  I don't see how them gaining OJ's money or possessions will bring Ron back.  Ron is deceased and I believe he would want his family to live and go on with their life.  They can not bring Ron back no matter what they do to OJ.  Enough is Enogh.  It makes me wonder are they capitalizing from Ron's death by trying to gain more money by any means possible?  If OJ had no worth, what would the Goldman's have done?  There has to be an end or they will continue to live in the past.  The downfall for me was that the show ended with Dr. Phil offering no therapy for healing to take place for the Goldmans.  I expected Dr. Phil to offer counseling, provoke them to move on with their lives and to let go this hunt to get revenge, but Dr. Phil openly said he supports what the Goldmans are doing and I find this a big disappointment.

OJ SIMPSON GOT AWAY WITH DOUBLE MURDERER,THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TOTALLY ALTERED THE CRIME SCENE BY NOT FOLLOWING PROPER PROCEDURE, I MEAN YOU DON'T TAKE THE OJ'S SHOES HOME WITH YOU DONT GO INTO A CRIME SCENE AND WALK ALL IN TOUCHING STUFF THAT COULD HAVE BEEN VALUABLE TO PROVING HIS GUILT, I THINK THEY BOTCHED THE WHOLE THING FROM THE GET GO. IF ANYONE HAS ANY  LAW INFORCEMENT KNOWLEDGE WHAT SO EVER YOU WILL KNOW THAT YOU PRESERVE THE CRIME SCENE UNTIL THE PROPER PEOPLE GET THERE AND THEY GO OVER THE CRIME AND TAKE ANY EVIDENCE NEEDED.

Are you serious?

Quote From: fromthesquare

I find it sad that you find the murder of 2 of God's creatures, who had full lives and people who loved them- hilarious.  Okay, so maybe it isn't the murder you find funny.  Maybe it is those of us who are upset that they were killed that so tickles you.

I don't find the murder of Emmett Till funny.  I don't think that the injustice done in his case was amusing.  Why do you feel such joy in the fact that a black murderer is roaming free in the world.  How can you not care that 2 babies have grown up without their mother?

I am not trying to be smug.  I really don't understand.  I get it that there has been an unequal justice system.  But when you high 5 each other because a black murderer is acquitted then you are not changing the course of racial injustice.  You are only continuing it.

The "hillarious" refers to the longevity of the anger possessed by people towards OJ. Don't try to confuse the issue by implying that someone is being disrespectful to another person's sensitivities with regard to life.  The fact that people lost their lives in this horrific manner will leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth.

The point however is that while this country's legal system prides itself on innocent till proven guilty and once acquitted of the crime, the individual is innocent (when judged by a jury of their peers) we are still judging OJ and taking away his liberties as a citizen of this country.  What white man has had to undergo this same scrutiny and torture for the murder and brutality they've inflicted upon countless black women and girls (with all the evidence naming them as the perpetrator(s) and still gets acquitted)? You are absolutely right... this is not funny.  It never has been a laughing matter when families lose loved ones.  It amazes me though that all of you are up in arms about this ONE situation.  Where are you at when persons of color are murdered by police or raped and held captive in a West Va home?  I am sure the name Megan Williams will not mean a thing to you in 3 months if it even means anything now. I am willing to bet money that you would NEVER raise this type of stink if those perpetrators are acquitted.

Hillarious

No one is high fiving as you put it.  Rather we are shaking our heads in disbeleif as this system of unfairness is allowed to continue and further reach back into the past with cases like the Jena 6.

Hillarious

So then why are people still pointing at an innocent man? Why then is the anger so profound towards a man who's legal team was able to provide a sound defense that protected his innocense? Why is it ok to treat him like a criminal when a jury of his peers found him innocent? Why is it ok?

Hillarious

what does he mean

Quote From: prisilla47

He murdered them and got away with it. He thinks he is above all else and cannot be punished. The man has a definite mental problem. I feel for his children. They also know he's a killer.
 Hello everyone!!!

I just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in about weather O.J. is guilty or not. Espically to the to people on here who say that there was no blood on O.J. after the murders took place. I bought the book just yesterday and I am at the groosom chapter where he tells all about the murder now. (Thats how good the book is can't put it down at all. It is very spine chilling and VERY!!! GROOSOME!!!!).  It is Obvious that those who think that there was no blood on O.J. After the murders took place either didn't read the book, or just don't know exactly how the whole thing exactly happened. So  let me just tell you all a quote from O.J. himself straight from the book in  the chapter called chapter called: "The Night In Question" in this quote he says himself that he was covered in blood. Read this please. He says: "I again looked down at myself at my BLOOD - SOAKED CLOTHES, and noticed the knife in my hand. The KNIFE WAS COVERED IN BLOOD as were my hand and wrist and half of my right forearm" This is an exerpt and a quote right from the book: "If I Did it" right from O.J. himself. So now how can anyone say that he wasen't covered in blood. In the book he even goes on to say that he striped off right at the crime seene and left his clothes there. Anyway this isn't the main reason I wanted to post this the main reason for this is because I just wanted to say how hauntingly spine chillingly groosome and horrifying the book is. I only bought the book yesterday and i only have 2 chapters left and I am finished it. The book is like a Halloween story. VERY! spine-chillingly scary and I pray everyday for the families of Nicole and Ron everyday. GOD BE WITH THEM ALL!!! now and always!!! Take care and all the best to both families!!! WAY TO GO!!! Dr. Phill for doing a show for the family of Ron Goldman and permoting the book for them. You are to be very highly commended for your efforts!!!! I am VERY!!! glad that they were able to get the rights to the book and O.J. didn't get anything from it AWAY TO GO!!! also goes out to the Goldman family for their continued efforts to put O.J. behind bars for what he has done and I think that right now he is where he belongs... IN JAIL!!! To bad though it isn't for the murders that he commited though I feel so sorry for that. I hope that both families are able to squeeze every last penny out of him. He deserves NOTHING!!! except spending the rest of his life BEHIND BARS!!!!

Holly!!!

I agree with you completely.  I was so disappointed that Dr. Phil and Oprah both did these shows supporting the Goldman's. And no amount of money will bring Ron back.  They need to heal. I couldn't believe they published this book.  Nicole's sister, Denise, took the high road and would have nothing to do with the book.  Dr. Phil absolutely handled this wrong, and your right he should have offered counseling.  So disappointing.

One question to the Goldman's will prove if OJ was there

OJ indicated in the book, "If I Did It," that Ron Goldman got in a defensive Karate stance.  OJ did not not Ron Goldman before June 12, 1994 so he couldn't have known if Ron knew Karate unless he was actually there the night of the murders.  The one question I wish I could ask Fred and Kim Goldman is, "did Ron know Karate???"  If so, OJ was there.

Thanks for taking the time to explain these things to me.  I was born and raised in New York so some of these painful points in history I did not experience first hand.  I am glad that you explained that you DO care that these people were murdered.  I am saddened that our justice system has not been blind to color.  I hope that it continues to improve.  I am saddened by man's inhumanity to man of any color.  This includes racial injustice.  I think what you are saying is that we ( white Americans) finally know what it feels like to have someone we believe to be guilty acquitted due to reverse racism.  I hope that someday we will have a different world.  I believe that God made us all different as part of our test here on earth.  If that is true then many of us are not doing so well.

I have not heard of Megan Williams but I promise to keep her in my prayers.

10/15 The O.J. Book Battle

Quote From: bet302

What I can't figure out is why no one put very much stock into the fact that Nicole's dog did not react to the murders.  Her dog would have attacked the killer.  In most cases, a dog will not attack his owner.  They are loyal to a fault.  If my husband tried to hurt me, in any way, my dogs (two golden retrievers) would be so confused as to who to protect, since both of us are their masters.  They would, more than likely, just be so upset that they would wander off, as Nicole's dog did.  Who knows, perhaps the dog tried to follow OJ when he left.  I, so think, he is guilty!!!  The man is just a poor specimen of a human being.  He makes me sick just to look at him or hear his name mentioned.  And the book....is just another one of his 'sick' ideas to hurt Nicole's and Ron's famiy.  I will not read it.  I'm anxiously awaiting when he will get his!  I'm a true believer in 'what goes around, comes around'....I hope it's soon.

Betty

I totally agree with  you.  Nicole's dog (which  was once his  or  knew him  well.)  would not  attack him. He  is a loved master to  the  dog.

THE PROFITS

I haven't heard one thing about where the profits of the book are going, now that the Goldman's have the rights to the book ect. I need to know that. If it is going to a charity then I support the Goldman's in getting the rights to the book, because it STOPPED OJ from making money on his blood money book.

I watched everyday of the trial, and I didn't have a preconcieved notion of his guilt or innocence when it started. I listened to all the testimony and evidence and then after it was all said and done I thought it through and made my opinion on his guilt or innocence.  I felt he was guilty and I was heartbroken to see him go free. I don't care what someone has done in thier life, how much money they have made,  or how many people think they are a hero------if you comitt a crime you should do the time....period.

I don't feel anyone should benifit from the profits of this discusting book. I hope that it all goes to charity.  Can't believe he wanted (and did) make money from a book like this .
