(Original Air Date: 10/15/08) The speculation surrounding O.J. Simpson has never stopped since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman were tragically murdered 13 years ago. Millions watched O.J.'s infamous white Bronco chase on TV. The murder trial, which lasted 10 months, is often called the trial of the century and was the most watched in history. Simpson stirred the controversy again by attempting to publish a book called, If I Did It. While he says it's a work of fiction, the family of Ron Goldman believes If I Did It is his confession, and that he got caught up in the interview process for the book and forgot that he was supposed to be speculating rather than reporting. Now, the Goldmans are the focus of a huge controversy as they take over publishing the tome. Are they justified in taking the profits away from the man they believe to have killed their loved one? And, meet the ghostwriter of If I Did It, Pablo Fenjves, a man who sat across the table from O.J. for over three months as the former football star told him how it would have happened -- if he had been the killer. Join Fenjves as he goes back to the crime scene and reveals compelling details from his conversations with Simpson. Plus, Dr. Phil offers his take on O.J. and this now best-selling book. Was it a confession, or is it truly just a hypothetical account? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

get over it?

Quote From: lilglenda85

THAT IS SO NASTY ABOUT WHAT SHE SAID ABOUT JOHNNIE COCHRAN!!!  THAT MAN IS DEAD AND HE CANNOT DEFEND HISSELF!!  HOW DARE SHE SAY THAT ABOUT HIM!!! THAT WAS SO FOUL AND DISRESPECTFUL!! FURTHERMORE I DONT BELIEVE FOR A MINUTE THAT MR. COCHRAN SAID THAT!! THE MAN WAS JUST DOING HIS JOB AND IF THEY CANT EXCEPT THAT OJ SIMPSON GOT OFF THEN THAT IS THEIR PROBLEM!! HONESTLY I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT IT.   IT HAPPENED MORE THEN 13 YEARS AGO LET IT REST!!! IF HE DID DO IT THEN GOD HAS SOMETHING IN STORE FOR HIM AND BEST BELIEVE HE WILL DO IT!!!

I don't know what it's like to lose a loved one to a violent crime and then watch my loved one's killer parade around in society thumbing his nose at me, but I can only imagine it is extremely excruciating.

Because I haven't, I feel it wouldn't be appropriate for me to tell them to just get over it. If that was your child would you want people to tell you to just let it go? Have some compassion!!!!

Informative, Yes!

Quote From: thriver

I found your show today very informative. I have always thought OJ was responsible for both murders & never doubted it for a minute. As a previous domestic violence survivor, I identified with the entire situation. I would never considered purchasing this book until today but after hearing the author and seeing the Goldman's committment to this and considering they will be the ones to profit from the sale of this book,  I have decided to definitely get the book. I admire their tenacity and hope they believe as I do that what goes around....I was very impressed by the author!
I found the show very informative also! I thought the author was very creditable as well. I was relieved to find him so! If the author had been swayed by Mr. Simpson I would have found little credence in the interview or the book. The Goldman's are also very creditable. They deserve the profits more than the one who told the story and I am not referring to the ghost writer. I don't know about the children! They certainly didn't deserve their lot in life!

Quote From: bnaito

People who continue to say that O.J. Simpson murdered Nicole and Ron continue to play double standards. They continue to persecute the man after the court cleared him of criminal responsibility. This indicates that they don't believe in the justice system, and that make it very dangerous. What information do they have that wasn't presented in the trial that makes them more right than the jurors who decided on the case? Hypocrites!

bn

If you think for one little minute that those jurors were actually thinking about JUSTICE and not the repercussions of them voting guilty then you are out of your mind.

I AM so tired of hearing about Fred and Kim Goldman.. I think their 20 minutes of fame is up. I know what they are going through, but now those tears they shed are forced and fake.

I'm sorry, I missed your post that shows you 'know what they are going through'. Would you mind telling me where I can find it.

Thank you in advance.

you didn't miss that part, because i never posted it. but i will share now... my family and i lost a loved one to murder 8 years ago.. now what i was trying to say is that yes we were angry too, but we eventually had to let go. that type of thing will eat you alive..

I also want to state, that i always knew Simpson was guilty, and i still believe that, but i didn't mean for it to sound as if the goldmans should not have feelings but how can you heal with anger in your heart.

I am sorry for your loss. Did your family get any sense of justice?

I agree anger can do terrible things to the heart and soul. But, in reality, we only see a very small glimpse in the life of the Goldmans. Maybe this is how they deal with their anger and it must be so very difficult to see OJ's face every time OJ makes the news.

Again, I am sorry for the loss your family experienced.

The Kids

Quote From: prisilla47

He murdered them and got away with it. He thinks he is above all else and cannot be punished. The man has a definite mental problem. I feel for his children. They also know he's a killer.
I absolutely agree with what this person said.  Think of how OJ's kids feel!  It is very unfortunate that something like this happened to Nicole and Ron, but I think the current hype is what OJ is feeding on.  It is a sad truth that this type of thing happens all the time without getting any  media coverage at all.   I can understand the pain of losing someone, even so brutally, but  obviously  the Goldman's  relentlessness on OJ Simpson is probably the reason there is a "hypothetical" confession book in the first place.  I think it is a way for OJ to get at the Goldmans AGAIN. If no one pays attention to OJs stupid actions, maybe we won't have to hear about this junk anymore!

Why would you give them blood money cause of their greed.

07/02 The O.J. Book Battle

Dr. Phil, I watched the episode regarding O.J. and the book "If I did It".

I'm very happy the Goldman's came on the show and explained why they were involved with this project. I was extremely upset when I first heard they were involved in the publishing of this book. But now I understand and agree with their decision.

I understand the pain of losing a loved one. In 1991 my sister was murdered by her husband and we had to go through two murder trials. He was finally convicted of 2nd degree murder, but it doesn't stop there. We are now awaiting his parole hearing.

I want to thank you for a great show. I do have one complaint. Please control the commercials. There are way too many of them.

Jeanine
