There is more out there....

I am a WAHM of 2.  I have been in and out a menial jobs, went to college and I never felt satisified with what I was doing, as someone mentioned in an earlier post, it just didn't feel right getting up every morning and going to work for someone else when my family was being raised by friends and family, not me.  I have looked long and hard for over 5 years for the perfect home business that any time I invested, I was investing it in me, not someone elses fortune.  Now I have found the perfect opportunity for me, maybe not for everyone, but it is worth a look.   I have a 24/7 info line if anyone is interested as well as a website.  It is one step in the right direction.....Hope this message helps someone find their dream job and accomplish their goals.....Message me if you woud like to know more....

I am so glad to read your post.  It is comforting to know you are not the only one in the situation you are in.  It's so nice to hear from others who can relate to you.  I agree everyday is a learning experience.  And I too so agree that the real answer lies within one's self.  And no matter how much you ask around and seek help, is to connect with yourself from within.  I so totally agree with everything you said.  I am so glad you responded to my post and it sounds like we have so much in common.  I did go out of my dead end job but in a way caused stress where there was stress.  Now what do I do?  Kind of feel like a floundering fish in unknown waters.  But I feel like too everyday I am getting closer to what I should be doing (I hope anyway).  There has to be something out there better than what I was doing.  Even sometimes flopping burgers sounds good to me (I would never do anything of the kind now) but when you are desperate anything goes.  I just hope I am on the right path and anxiety don't get the worse of me.  Life is a journey either way.  I will "keep rowing" and the same to you and I know too you will find what you are looking for and soon.  I would like to keep in touch by e-mail if you would like and see how each of us is doing on our journeys.  We sound like we could be each others cheerleader.  Anyway feel free to e-mail me anytime.

Thanks Caroline for your post,

Hello Caroline and Rayken,

This is my first time on this website.  I can't believe that ya'll have said everything I've been feeling inside.  I never found anyone I could talk to who knows what I've been feeling.  I was called by some unknown force to go here tonight and read this.  I feel like an oyster at the bottom of an endless ocean floor waiting for someone to discover the beautiful pearl I have inside.  I need to know how to discover it myself, instead of waiting for someone to find it for me.  I hope this is the beginning of some new insight to get me there.

Thanks for sharing,

a foot in the door

My question is how is someone supposed to get their foot in the door to work at a good fulltime job? My husband graduated with a bachelors in finance a year and half ago and after sending out millions of resume's is still bustin his butt as a part time sup. at UPS. UPS won't give him a finance job until he works his way up through the ranks (whats the point of going to school then?). Everyone else wants experience but how is one supposed to get experience if they won't hire someone without it. He has a family and can't work for nothing. We can't survive on my income without massive amounts of help from my parents and we don't want to do that to them. What does he need to do? We are willing to move and he's incredibly loyal and will work his butt off for the good of the company. What ever it takes at this point is ok with us.

How do I get a foot in the door?

Iam a college graduate now for over ten years I have been trying very hard to get a full time job in IT. I have sent out hundreds if not thousands of resumes to employers but sadly have not got a single response to date. Can either Dr Phil or other members please help me get my foot in the door, all I want is for a employer to give me a chance.
Thanks

I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner.  You could e-mail me and maybe we could be of help to one another or give each other support.  You said everything too how I feel.  I have so many thoughts and anxieties for me to find what I am looking for.  And believe me that's all I do with all my time I have.  I am going back to a job I really don't like monday and I am down because I really want to do what I want to do.  When your not in circumstances that gives you that luxury it makes ones life even more difficult.  Some people just seemed satisfied in what they are doing and I want to get there SOON!!!  Write back and tell me how you are doing and how things are going?

Can't wait to hear back-

Rayken

a foot in the door 2

I am having the same problem as earlier posters. I have been out of work since December, 2005. Have over 30 years working experience, 14 1/2 at my last job. Now I in my last class before receiving my BS in Health Care Administration. I can not get a foot in the door because everyone wants experience for even the entry level positions. Does Dr. Phil or anyone have information that could help. I really need a job, I take care of my elderly mother. We will not be able to make it much longer on my savings.

two degrees and 20 years in another field and I can't find work

I have a music degree, 20 years in software engineering, and now a degree in ultrasound.  I have been looking for work since I graduated from ultrasound school in Dec. 2005 and none is to be found.

I really like the software field but was really fed up with I was asked to train my own Indian replacements when IBM outsourced our jobs overseas.  I told them to "cram it".

I went back to school in August 2003 and have recently become a Resigered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.  I live in Austin, TX and the ultrasound market here is just saturated.  I thought about doing the travel medical thing but they won't even look at you until you have at least one year of experience.

I have an interview next week at a hospital in Temple, TX called Scott and White and it's a teaching hospital with a national reputation.  However, if I should be so lucky as to land a job there, it means that I either move to Temple or communte 2 hours a day.  My family will stay in Austin and the only time I will get to see them is maybe a couple of days a week.  My partner is not able to move because his retirement pension would be at stake.

I find all of this very frustrating and depressing.  I'm only 49 years old and don't look it according to my friends.  But I still feel like I'm a victim of age, gender, and sexual orientation discrimination.
