(Original Air Date 12/14/07) Dr. Phil’s guests call their loved ones on the carpet about their unusual behavior. Linda says her dog, Sasha, is more human than canine. She loves to dress Sasha in pearls when company comes and feed the pampered pooch off her fork. Linda’s future daughter-in-law, Jill, says Linda is going overboard with her doggie doting -- especially since Linda wants Sasha to host Jill’s bridal shower! Then, Mary says it’s time for her husband, Eric, to let go of his dream of being a rock star. He’s 50 years old, and she says it’s time for him to get a real job. Eric says she supported his passion for 27 years -- so why is it suddenly abnormal? Next, Amber says she’s concerned about her fiancé, Colin’s, unpredictable mood swings, because one minute he’s the nicest guy in the world, but the next minute he’s flying off the handle. Should she call off the wedding until he gets his temper under control? Plus, a picky eater says she wants to stop being a “food weirdo” and start enjoying meals like a normal person. And, a woman at odds with her husband over the dangerous hobby that left her with a fractured back. Should she pursue her passion even though it terrifies her spouse? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

12/14 Is This Normal?

Quote From: ceriseeee

The whole dog issue has me crazy. I love our dog like it was our child. We dont dress it up and it doesnt go around with us where we go in my purse. All this dressing up dogs makes me crazy. All the celebrities have this "Pocket Dogs" in purses , taking them to nightclubs etc. like they were a designer handbag accessory. What happens when these dogs go out of fashion. Will they dump them at the pound or have them put to sleep because they are no longer the fashionable thing to do. People are now breeding these poor tiny creatures like never before and most come from deplorable puppy mills to fill the demand. The pounds are full of unwanted animals bought on a whim. Dogs dont want to be dressed up . Why do you think they try to rip the clothes off . I put a bow on our Pekingese for Christmas day and it lasted 5 seconds. They should be loved and cared for not made into some joke. They want to be warm and dry and feel secure. They want food , water and a walk. They dont care what Paris Hilton's dog is wearing this year.
There are also celebrity wanna-be's following the small, expensive dog trend. When my husband looked at an SUV a young guy was trying to sell, I met his overweight Paris Hilton wanna-be girlfriend. Stringy bottle blonde hair, tatooed backside, skin-tight outfit exposing "muffin-top" fat-rolls, and a papillon named Paris! She paid $800 for this dog. And her boyfriend ran over it. With her watching! $1600 in vet bills kept the poor creature alive. But, she'll never stand up. Much less walk.

Somebody Call Ceasar

 yes the Dog Whisperer
having studied veterinarian medicine - PEOPLE need to understand animal first, dog second, the personality if the dog third.
if some people treated their kids like they do their dogs, we would say the kids are spoiled.  As Ceasar says - you are suppose to be the pack leader. kinda the same way you should be the leader of your children.
Please do your dog a favor and don't forget when you try to 'humanize' your dogs, cats,,,,you are taking away from what they are.

12/14 Is this normal

I understand Linda's love for her dog,  it's just that, a dog.   My husband and I love our dogs and talk to them.   We, like Dr. Phil and Robin are empty nesters.  The dogs have replaced the kids.   We tease  our daughters that the dogs are her sisters.   And like Robin, I think our dogs are the smartest ones in the world.   However, I did not insist that my dogs through my daughter a bridal shower.

About the skydiver.  I completely understand your husbands fears.   My husband suffered a traumatic brain injury about 11 months ago, getting thrown from a horse.    Our whole family still rides horses, but we ride much more cautiously.   There's been a lot of fear to overcome there.    My husband has ridden some since the accident, but since he still has balance issues he only rides on good balance days and the rest of the family holds it's breath while he rides.   I don't think you should give up something you love to do, but your husband has a true fear of your either severely hurting yourself or losing you.    Take time to talk about it and I'm sure you'll understand where he's coming from.

Picky food eater-I thought my husband was picky, but you make him  look good.     Maybe you should eat blindfolded.

12/14 Is This Normal?

Quote From: fby0553

I am a dog lover but, I feel so sorry for the animals people treat like human beings!  I know human beings don't appreciate being treated like animals.  I really love my dog, but she is a pet.  A pet is the perfect definition of "unconditional love."  I think if they could talk, they would ask their owners, "Why are you putting me in these silly clothes?  It's uncomfortable, they're heavy, they're itchy, etc. etc. etc."  Let the animals be animals!  Please don't misunderstand, we talk to our dog like she is human and we believe she understands us.  If she hears hollering in the house, due to an argument or from watching tv, she runs into our bedroom and hides until she thinks it's safe to come out.  She knows how to ask for a treat when she wants one, which is all the time of course.  If she wants to loved, she knows how to ask for that too.  They are smart creatures, but give them a break.
I always feel sorry for dogs when I see them dressed in human clothes or Halloween costumes.  Poor dogs, they must be so embarrassed!

No wonder LINDA isn't married.

Umm.. Thats not normal in any sense of the word... Dr.Phil should get LINDA professional help just like any other person with serious mental issues.

Linda says her DOG does not lick it's butt. Umm LINDA here's a GROOMING FACT in regards to cats/dogs/etc... All cats and dogs LICK their butt! Its in their nature! See Linda a DOG doesn't get up in the morning and turn on the shower and hop in and put on the shampoo/conditioner/bodywash etc LIKE HUMANS do... So therefore the one and ONLY thing a dog can do to get clean is like itself, IE: LICK ITS BUTT! and then you let the dog lick and eat off your damn fork! THAT'S SO DAMN SICK AND GROSS!!

Not only THAT, but Im assuming at even some point in your life someone comes over to your place and IF they do have something to eat.. Don't you think that you could be putting those people at RISK of getting some sick disease, infection, bug, worm, etc, etc cause she used the same fork/plate that the dog licked after the dog FIRST licked its own butt after going to the bathroom and after eating some dead bird/rat that got ran over on the highway.....

DOGS are DOGS and CATS are CATS! That's it, thats ALL it is.. Thats why they are ONLY pets.. They are extremely stupid and uneducated compared to a person... OMG is this show for real? Dr. Phil might have to replace/fire his Creative Writing Department.... I mean I just got home from work and always look forward to Dr.Phil and some supper.. But after watching this... I gotta hold off now..SICK.

There's reasons why DOGS get shots for heart worms, fleas, etc, etc... Its not cause they are clean and sparkling!

Linda its ok to have a dog as a PET but that's IT. If your very lonely maybe look into internet dating or speed dating. Heck go to the BAR if it comes to that. Drink alot and its dark in there...

Oh yea lastly, Dr.Phil: My pet cat likes to get massaged behind the ears and on the head BUT only with my food, nothing else, not the hand, not the nose, and not anything else (hanger, etc). He also has an attitude, like when hes stressed out or mad, he will pull his hair out and spit it on the floor or rug. So when I come home for example I can see this chunks or balls of hair....Umm does that mean I can come on todays show too??? Please.

Also Linda.. Umm come on here time to wake up and come back down to earth and join the rest of us. Thanks.

Maybe Linda's Dog can be on the show Dog Whisperer Season 2.

Ceaser my amigo are you available to help this person called Linda on the Dr.Phil show airing December 14th/2007. Linda appears to believe her DOG is more a person/human then a person and attempts to treat the DOG as such.. Don't be alarmed Ceaser, to the rest of the 10 million people watching this show, its just a DOG... Its pees/poos outside on the trees or fenceposts, he licks his butt. He barks, has fleas and GOD knows what else.. She also tries to incorporate human behaviors into the DOGS live, like eating off the same fork (SICK), wearing clothes, necklaces, and Linda thinks the DOG is actually talking to her in some strange language she understands BUT on the video we seen, its just sounds like a DOG barking...

Please send help to Linda! STAT!!!

Thanks Ceaser!!

Dogs Are Great!

I am 50 years old.  Female

I got married July 21st of this year to a great guy.   At that time, I owned (now We own) 2 acres of property on a small lake in northern Wisconsin with a small log cabin .   On that lake Jim (Hubby) and I - prior to our marriage purchased a 48 foot dock (pier) with a 10 x 12 platform on the end.   This is where our marriage was to be performed.   It was Jims idea to have my German Sherpard who is 9 years old, 126 pounds be the ring bearier,  No one else knew our plan except the minister.   All the guests were on the shore line viewing our wedding when the minister asked for the rings at which time Jim and I turned to look at Jims brother in law who was holding Feral (my dog) when we turned John - brother in law released Feral who walked the length of the dock, just like it had been practiced, which it never had been. Feral had a pouch on his collar that had the rings.   When Feral reached my side, he stopped and Jim reached down and took the rings.   EVERYONE on the shoreline were going HAAAAA cause they all knew what Feral means to me and Jim.   I have never had any kids, now I have 2 step sons who were present.  One was the Best man the other according to Jim was the Best man too.   I had my two neices stand up for me.   Hurricane was a  German Shepard that was 13 years old.   I had him creamated, He attended the wedding alsol.  Ben , one of the best men, carried Hurricanes URN down the dock, and set it down next to the minister, After the ceremony, Ben picked up Hurricanes URN and carried it back,   Feral followed Jim and I off the dock. Walking slowly just like he knew what was going on but in fact, it was his first time.   DO dogs belong in weddings?   My (ours ) did!   and so did the deceased dogs Urn Hurricane.  I will forever keep this moment special.

Sincerely,

Mother and Lover of Animals!

KIDS that aren't yours isnt easy to live with..

Why is Colin being looked upon as the bad person.

Let me GUESS what the current situation is... Well the girlfriend had 3 KIDS with someone else. I assume got divorced, who knows maybe 3 kids drove the guy nuts, now she had ANOTHER kid with Colin. So this woman is currently NOT married and yet has 4 KIDS/CHILDREN. I'll guarntee Colin is the only person who works and has a JOB, while she's at home all day. It still looks like she has time to get her hair professionally highlighted though.. My oldest brother has only ONE - 8 YEAR old kid and when I babysit it gets ON my nerves after a couple days... So I can ONLY imagine what Colin is going through having to deal with 4 kids, 3 that are not his! and he works all day, comes home and has to deal with that. HAVING to put up with that is NEVER easy, especially with so many children...

Im sure Colin isn't a bad person, but Im sure he's stressed to the max. Working, having a short fuse. 4 KIDS to put up with, that don't listen... Even when I babysit 1 kid, they never listen and it drives me NUTS. I repeatly tell him to clean up, clean up, turn the Xbox off, 100 times and he never does, sometimes he turns off the TV......

Hey if SHE doesn't want to get married. If I was Colin, hey bud, there's alot of woman out there, so dont sell yourself short. There is also alot of woman out there who DONT have 3 CHILDEN from a past marriage that are instantly put into your life..... So hey don't sweat it. If she calls it off, it could be a blessing in disquise... Alot of men won't take in a woman with 3 KIDS from a previous marriage.... SO yea Colin. Dont worry what anyone else, even Dr.Phil. He didnt walk into a relatioship with 4 kids, and 3 that aren't even yours.... Dr.Phil didnt even have more then 2 kids in his life! So how does he know what its like??? He doesn't, he has never lived it, had to live it, etc....
