(Original Air Date 12/14/07) Dr. Phil’s guests call their loved ones on the carpet about their unusual behavior. Linda says her dog, Sasha, is more human than canine. She loves to dress Sasha in pearls when company comes and feed the pampered pooch off her fork. Linda’s future daughter-in-law, Jill, says Linda is going overboard with her doggie doting -- especially since Linda wants Sasha to host Jill’s bridal shower! Then, Mary says it’s time for her husband, Eric, to let go of his dream of being a rock star. He’s 50 years old, and she says it’s time for him to get a real job. Eric says she supported his passion for 27 years -- so why is it suddenly abnormal? Next, Amber says she’s concerned about her fiancé, Colin’s, unpredictable mood swings, because one minute he’s the nicest guy in the world, but the next minute he’s flying off the handle. Should she call off the wedding until he gets his temper under control? Plus, a picky eater says she wants to stop being a “food weirdo” and start enjoying meals like a normal person. And, a woman at odds with her husband over the dangerous hobby that left her with a fractured back. Should she pursue her passion even though it terrifies her spouse? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

dog lover

I am a dog lover too and yes I treat my 6 dogs like they are my children, I don't dress them up in funny clothes , but they are a part of my family. I have never had anmy children so yes they are my children and some times they act just like a little child. I even go as far as to cook chicken up every week to mix with their dry food and I am glad that I have started this because when all the people were worrying about the bad dog food I was not worried. I have even started making their own biscuits which they love and I love doing it.

03/21 Is This Normal?

Okay, as far as animals go, I happen to LOVE them, I have five cats two dogs and yes they are a part of the family (they remind me every time I trip over one of them) however they are DOGS and CATS, you know every time I see these poor animals dressed in clothes (really they have NO PROBLEM with modesty ) I can just picture other dogs giggling behind their paws, my dogs would EAT the clothes, uncomfortable and itchy, animals have fur for a reason, and HUMANS need clothes for a reason (no fur).
But I do think the MIL was just being funny, I really don't think she was acting NUTS, except for maybe allowing the dog to eat off her fork, that's GROSS, and dogs mouths being cleaner than ours is a MYTH.
That brings me to the food thing, if I can't identify it, I don't EAT IT, that means on the menu, if it smells funny or looks slimy, rubbery, dry, greasy.... I think people get the point.  Yes I will pick through it, CHICKEN and TURKEY are the WORST offenders, if I find any veins I will get sick, so I only eat the breasts and only AFTER it has been thouroughly assesed, beans, peas legumes, EWWWW, they are not to be chewed, I have texture problems, even with touch and the feeling of clothes I'm pretty screwy.
For ME, this is NORMAL and my family accepts it, and my friends accept it as well, it dosen't affect my life too badly, if I go to a restaurant I ask what the side veggies are, peas or beans, I ask for something else, or I simply LEAVE them, picking through food, well I do that with MEAT, POULTRY for the most part, most red meats are safe.

Cheaters

Living in New York (Long Island) and having he headlines day in day out every channel is about cheating spouses.  This now has every household feuding. Wives are confronting their husbands saying "SEE" I bet you are too?  Well I am in an affair (almost 1 year) his wife is now more suspicious checking all his activities and he is still taking chances continuing to see me.  Says I am his desire, and cannot stay away from me.  I too cannot say no to him.Is this an addiction or what?   But it's not just me, everywhere I go, most persons I know are in fact having an affair.  It seems epidemic and people are more bold about being seen out with their paramour.

I know what we are doing is wrong, he lied to me i the beginning I stopped it once I found out he was married but he kept pursuing me and I was and am too weak to say stop, and now I find myself hopelessly in love!

I always feel sorry for dogs when I see them dressed in human clothes or Halloween costumes.  Poor dogs, they must be so embarrassed!
I can see putting a doggie sweater on a chihuahua when it's the middle of winter and a foot of snow on the ground. Especially when I'd walk him to his best, great dane, friend's house.

I understand to a degree what you are going through. A married man seems more attractive than a single guy. You keep believing his lies, and at some point just want to be with him no matter what. That is a lie within itself and needs to stop. I had a very very brief liesan myself when i was younger. I knew what the consequences were, but that was no excuse. It was a bit hard (if it was soft, i would have left =0)) j/k...but I had to cut it off. You can too. You are only going to be further ashamed and feel more love for a man that will never love you.

Even if you do manage to stay together...think about the wife. Put youreself in her shoes. You(she) has been with this man for years, kids,ups/down, good, bad and ugly! After enduring all of that love and divotion to one man, you are treated like second class. Like you don't even matter. He's soo freakin' selfish and a complete butthole to sleep with another woman, while still sleeping and lying to you. God only knows what you will contract with all that nastieness going around.

Having an outside affair effects everyone , not just the two involved. I am trying not to be mean, but if you and this guy make it to marriage and he gets a divorce, then marries you...do not be surprised if he cheats on you. Not only that, but you two will be outcasts amongs both families, miserable, and will in time get what you two deserve. I have seen it 1st hand and it is not pretty! So please end this soon and get it done with before something really bad happens. You will feel soo much better...remember you are not the only woman he is cheating with.

For saying the best response so far.

I aso wanted to say that everyone with a pet should really, really, really watch and study the Dog Whisperer. He loves his animals but he does not humanize them....it is just not encouraged because it is not good for the animal. Watch Him!!

I agree. I live with woman who has 7 dogs and 1 cat. She treats those animals better than her own family sometimes. It is never acceptable to think that an animal is soo close to the family it is human. I hope that that daughter-in-law ( I think  it was Jill) puts her foot down and tells that crazy woman to back off! Freakin' seriously! If I was her, if that woman kept it up, I would cut all ties with her, till she gets the roles of people versus animals right.Trust me, I plan on doing that as soon as we move out.

Domestic Abuse

Too often in society today the emphasis is placed on the male to emplore restraint in the face of abuse. I personally see no place for any form of abuse in a healthy relationship. Furthermore, after a violent act is committed by EITHER the man or woman, it sets a terrible precident for the remaining length of the relationship. In my opinion, the call for equality of the sexes means that both women and men should be responsible for their actions. It seems that, for what ever reason, women have almost a 'carte-blanche' for physcial abuse whereas the zero tollerance approach is given to males. i'm not sure if my point has been entirely clear but in the search for equality, it is the responsibility for both men and women to control themselves and not turn to violence to solve problems.

It must've come as quite a shock to Linda, after being on the show, to discover that most viewers don't consider her doggie obsession normal, reasonable, or sane. So, she started posting messages that appearance was done in fun, as a joke. She didn't appear to be joking to me. To Dr Phil. Or, to her son's fiancee. If it were a joke, I doubt Dr Phil would've spent the air-time on it. She obviously wasn't expecting us to think she's nuts. But, because we do, she was only joking? Nice try,  Linda,
