(Original Air Date 12/14/07) Dr. Phil’s guests call their loved ones on the carpet about their unusual behavior. Linda says her dog, Sasha, is more human than canine. She loves to dress Sasha in pearls when company comes and feed the pampered pooch off her fork. Linda’s future daughter-in-law, Jill, says Linda is going overboard with her doggie doting -- especially since Linda wants Sasha to host Jill’s bridal shower! Then, Mary says it’s time for her husband, Eric, to let go of his dream of being a rock star. He’s 50 years old, and she says it’s time for him to get a real job. Eric says she supported his passion for 27 years -- so why is it suddenly abnormal? Next, Amber says she’s concerned about her fiancé, Colin’s, unpredictable mood swings, because one minute he’s the nicest guy in the world, but the next minute he’s flying off the handle. Should she call off the wedding until he gets his temper under control? Plus, a picky eater says she wants to stop being a “food weirdo” and start enjoying meals like a normal person. And, a woman at odds with her husband over the dangerous hobby that left her with a fractured back. Should she pursue her passion even though it terrifies her spouse? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

Food for thought.....

Quote From: pmcculley1

It is possible that your problems with food stem from a past life where you died from eating a certain food. It is called cell memory. If you were OK, and then suddenly developed this problem, it is possible that you were that age in a past life when it happened. Often when one finds the original cause, the problem automatically disappears. Consult a reputable psychic to investigate this issue.

Okay, I couldn't resist that little pun.......but seriously, folks....

Who knows? You could be right; there are many things in this world that can't be explained logically.

Personally, though, I'm thinking she's doing the food thing to get attention....and hey, it's workin' for her! Got her on the show, didn't it!

CRAZY

Quote From: taganbrannon

I agree. I live with woman who has 7 dogs and 1 cat. She treats those animals better than her own family sometimes. It is never acceptable to think that an animal is soo close to the family it is human. I hope that that daughter-in-law ( I think  it was Jill) puts her foot down and tells that crazy woman to back off! Freakin' seriously! If I was her, if that woman kept it up, I would cut all ties with her, till she gets the roles of people versus animals right.Trust me, I plan on doing that as soon as we move out.
This woman is  a little nutty.  Does she have any hobbies other than dressing her dog in silly little outfits?  She wanted the DOG to host the bridal shower - I mean c'mon now.   In the clip she said she would like the dog to be the "flower girl" and walk down the aisle in her frilly little dress.

I'm an animal lover - but i draw the line at some things - including having a pet "host" a shower or walk down the aisle at a wedding!

Dr. Phil was right - it wasn't about her (Linda) it's about her daughter in law Jill  and what Jill says goes!

absolutely abhorrent

i understand how much people love their dogs. i am a dog owner and lover. i feel nothing but pity for this dog.
everyone, please, try to treat your dogs like DOGS...think from their perspective, start realizing that while the dog IS begging, it is not sitting there thinking; if i just look sad enough up at her, i'll get some food...dog psychology is distinctly different from our own and unfortunately, the majority of owners don't/won't realize that. They continue to anthropomorphize their dogs, who in fact would be much happier if they were allowed the opportunity to have a secure place in a pack, and just be treated like a dog.
i could go on to exhaustion and so will just stop here...there aren't enough words. this type of thing frustrates me on a daily basis. and especially this dog being (part! definitely not all) Jack Russell...I have 2, we refer to them as 'personality plus' which is generally an understatement - but these dogs need tasks and exercise and attention and a particularly structured pack environment to thrive to their potential...this poor woman's put this dog in the exact opposite role i envision for a JRT!

ps - i apologize if this too similarly echoes other posts - i had to vent right away before i read down the board ;)

All Good Dogs Go To Heaven!

I have had dogs all my life....my present one is a wonderful English Field Dog (looks like a black Cocker Spaniel) named Poppy whom I've had for 13 years now.  She is loved and treasured, as all my dogs have been, and has been a wonderful companion through good and bad times. HOWEVER.....

From the time she was a puppy there were rules. She IS a dog and I am the "alpha dog". She was housebroken within two weeks of my getting her, she knows the rules, I feed her the best DOG food.... and she doesn't get table scraps because I love her! I don't want her to get sick or fat, which would shorten her life. I want her to be with me as long as possible. I've never dressed her in silly clothes...(though, if she's naughty, I tell her I'm going to shave her butt and all her friends will laugh at her.....she just looks at me, like, "yeah, right!"). She has a lovely, soft DOG bed, the best vet care, LOTS of love and attention, and I've never had to raise my voice to her.

It's confusing to animals when they are treated like children with no boundaries. It is a dog's nature to please their leader..you...and just like with children, when they don't know what's expected of them, they misbehave. A well-behaved dog is a happy dog. The Dog Whisperer rocks!

Profession for the Drummer

Why doesn't he teach drumming to others as a form of income? My Mum taught piano out of our house, so why can't he? He'd be passing along his skills and drumming techniques to another generation. And even if he "never makes the big time", he will have left his mark with someone who could be in the next big band!

Great Post...

Quote From: shawnylou

Research on Canines at Fort Collins Co.

Washington State University  Veterinary units and research of knowledge

Dogs learn up to 500 words of vocabulary from their human  guardians  in the language /regions they are in. Sense emotion and know sadness, pain and embarrassment have all 6 senses..

Cats learn 800 word vocabulary from their human guardians in language/regions they are in.Know embarrassment , sadness and pain and basically have all 6 senses

Birds learn Ravens /crows, parrots and cockatiels  up to 2000  words possibly more and sense emotion  have all 6 senses

All this animals can sense cancer and disease.

People who realize that animals have feelings/emotions and know things that are important to our everyday lives. They work for the blind, deaf, seizure disorders and handicap all the time and do HAVE EMOTION and sharp feelings and know the huge difference between doorbells and hard knocks and soft knocks..

My brother is a veterinarian...and animal behaviorist and I work with many puff butts...Human Society [ needs help and SPCA and may I say, dogs who work in law enforcement.. they not only know they read peoples emotions and sweat and smell the bombs, dope and whatever they are trained to do.. they will. They listen to every last word their partner says.. the officer and the police dog are infact partners and that dog gets as much respect as any officer on that force and gets full burial as all officers do. When the dog get killed in the line of duty the dog get full rights of an officer down.

There are Doggie mom's and the SPCA like it this way. People like this have probably been incredibly GOOD parents and this woman is probably the most loving woman to her daughter in-law too and well as her son. Any daughter in-law who would bring her new mom on the DR. Phil show wanted something special to remember the occasion by. The young woman adores this lady and I could see that and she loves that dog too. The woman adores her son and her new daughter and adores her dog. This is A-O-KAY.

The people who adore their pets are the ones far less likely to abuse any child or another human on earth..

Or as my DOG SAY along with his four cats  : all adopted for the rescue shelters..

GIVE PEACE A CHANCE*

I also have 7 children 3 adopted.

I'm always suspicious of people who don't like animals of any kind...but am especially suspicious of those who don't like dogs!

Animals are wonderful additions to our lives....dogs are beautiful spirits...and I know they have feelings, emotions, etc!

Just a message for Colin

From what I have observed from " Colin" he seems to have had the same problems that i have had. No, Thank god I am not married, but I have had a problem with anger. Guess the worse that i have done, was cuss out Federal Judge Frank polozola here in Louisiana. With the help of  Lexapro, my therapist, and friends, I am doing a lot better.

Colins Temper

Amber better take heed of Colin's temper.  He needs professional help and she needs to back out of the relationship until he can show her he has changed.  This is from someone who knows.  I didn't back out and married the person with the temper and now almost 30 years later I look back on a my life as wasted.

To The People on Today's Show

To Amber - Only marry a man who respects you and your children. Clearly it is not this guy.

Colin - You can have everything to your liking by doing it yourself and being by yourself. Marriage is full sharing and comprimising. And parenting will only be frustrating to you as it takes many hours of patiently teaching and repeating every night: "It's bedtime, wash your, face, brush your teeth, get ready for your story" etc.  Always remember you are no more important, nor any less important than anyone else.

To the skydiver lady - Listen to your husband; you're doing a dangerous thing and you are very fortunate you didn't end up paralized. There are lots of other fun things to do that aren't so dangerous. Such as quilting, scrapbooking, cooking, gardening, boating, traveling, painting, photography, stained glass, etc. And why not do some of these other fun things with your husband.

DoggieParty - Yea!!! You know dogs are more loyal than a lot of people!

Joy to all of you!
