You've read the headlines, now watch the story about a crime so heinous some would rather see the suspect dead than in jail. The manhunt for the nation's most wanted alleged pedophile ended last night as fugitive Chester Stiles, accused in the videotaped molestation of a three-year-old girl, was arrested outside Las Vegas. Stiles had been wanted since October 5 on warrants issued for 21 felony charges in connection with acts seen on the videotape. Could you spot a child predator? Is your family at risk? Be there when Dr. Phil tells you the warning signs to watch for -- you'll be shocked! Plus, the reported victim's mother breaks her silence in an exclusive interview with Dr. Phil. Then, hear what Stiles' ex-girlfriend's son has to say, and what the victim remembers about the attack. If it's happening now, Dr. Phil is going to deal with it now! Don't miss this breaking news Dr. Phil Now. Join the discussion.

sexual predators

Quote From: gramieph

This person is less than a beast.  when are they lawyers and judges and law makers ever going to hang these people high?  I can not think of a worse offense perpatrated on any human being, no matter how old they are.  These kinds can not and never have been rehabilated and let loose in our world ever!!!!!

I personally feel we should buy an island in the middle of the pacific ocean, put all these types there and give them 30 days of food, no boats, no nothing and tell them good luck.  At lease we would never have to worry about who they would hurt next.  Cruel and inhumane--not on your life compared to what they have done to innocent people.

amen!   lawyers, judges and child protective services need to be more concerned about these sick people instead of going after innocent people!

He is Caught

I feel putting it on Dr. Phil Show, How else to be educated about the whole matter than to hear it from the best. It starts with us as parents, first learning what we can do to keep our children safe not to let anger get in the way and really listen and learn from all of this, I am glad they caught him and i feel the real struggle starts today with the child who was hurt, I really pray the help is given and kept up with her for a real long time. Its really about keeping her healthy.  And when this man is found guilty. Than the law will take him as far as allowed to prosecute him. And I am hoping for a long long time.

OH MY.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY AND HOW SOMEONE COULD DO THIS TO SOMEONE ELSE. I THINK THE SAME THING SHOULD BE DONE TO HIM. I AM A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD AND I DONT WANT PEOPLE LIKE THIS OUT THERE TO TRY AND DO THE SAME THING TO ME. HE SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL FOR A LONG TIME.

Did you know 30% of the immates are mentally ill?

Quote From: pjparker

To all those who have been a victim of this horrible act, my prayers are with you all.  I'm vexed as to why our jails are so overcrowded and the people on death row for years continue to take up jail space when they really need to be taken out of society. It's plain to see jail doesn't work.  There are crimes that are being commited on society today that just don't get punished.  We need to make America safer and to put these people back out there among us is just wrong.  I'm a gentle Christian and have never killed, raped, or used violence against another human being, but to continue to build prisons for these hopelessly sick people is so wrong.  We need to rid our society of these evil people and build up our society with good moral people.
Just found that out on the news!  Thirty percent are untreated mentally ill  people...they sure don't get help in prison either but are  just held there...:(  I think the rates are higher then that actually...but if they were moved out and treated and given the medication they needed they wouldn't be breaking the law in the first place.  From what I see on prison documentaries these people are truly out of their minds, talking to themselves, have no clue what is going on, who they are or who anyone else is.  I cannot blame them for having a mental illnesses...nor do I see them as evil or as someone to get gotten rid of either.  You have to remember what Jesus said about the least of these:  Matthew 25:35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

As for the rest...most were from really bad homes where abuse and neglect were common.  For some, yes they are evil...sure...for most, they are simply lost.  For some yes, they need to be locked away forever to keep us safe from them, for others....well I think you know what they need.

SEXUAL PREDATOR

As a person who was sexually abused for several years by her own Father until the age of ten. Then I finally told someone and he went to jail. The pain that we go through is with us forever. I am so glad that this child that this guy abused doesn't remember. I am so happy about that because I today at 44 years old still have some nightmares, flashbacks. My father went to prison and done time but even today that isn't enough for me I would liketo see the plug pulled on this guy as well as my father. I have never or ever will forgive him and I feel that they have it too good in prison while we who are abused go through some sort of HELL every day. I say pull the plug and get him out of our system out of society. I would be more than happy to witness his death, as well as the death of my FATHER. Even though they say he is sick now. To me oh well if I beleive that good for me. You go Dr. Phil give the family of the abused the love they need. The predator's the HELL they deserve if anyone can you can. I am behind you 100%.

Good Perception

Quote From: jae1962

Whilst Chester Stiles has probably been all over the US press, it is not so in Oz, and so today is the first time I can recall seeing his image  ... the first thing that struck me was that he appeared relatively youthful whilst in my own mind the notion of a pedophile conjures up the image of a "dirty old man".  How easy it would be for someone with an image that doesn't align with perception to entrap his victims, and so gullability on all our parts has probably played right into his hand.   It certainly doesn't make his activities any less abhorent, though does mean I and others need to re-evaluate our perceptions of those we bring / allow into our lives and those of our loved ones.  I am sure that Dr Phil's "Now" topic will assist us all in transitioning our thinking.

As someone who has worked with convicted sex offenders for the past 10 years in my profession with the Department of Correction, Adult Felony Probation and Parole, I can tell you that your point is well-taken.  It is very rare that I run across a sexual predator who "looks" like a sexual predator.  That is akin to asking, "What does an alcoholic look like?"  Believe me, the come in all shapes, sizes, genders, colors, religions, etc., etc.  And, very, very few of them "look" like a sexual predator.  Most of them look like Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Bob, or Cousin Tom.  That, my friend, is what makes them successful at being sexual predators.  Would we let our children actually socialize with someone who "looks" like the man in these photos?  However, we allow them to associate with all the above-mentioned people because they don't "look" dangerous.  It's trite, but "looks can be deceiving."  You wouldn't believe the number of people we supervise on Felony Probation or Parole whom you would never conceive of doing such a thing.  They are respected members of their family, their organizations, their churches, their communities; yet, they have dirty little secrets.  Unfortunately, we eventually discover that they aren't really secrets; others have known for a long time and have just kept things quiet or, worse yet, enabled that behavior.  Just yesterday, we had a victim try to take her own life, at the age of 8, because her own mother accused her of breaking up the family because she reported to the police that her step-father was tying her up with a dog leash and hand-cuffing her to the bed while he raped her.  The perpetrator is now doing 10 years in prison, but the victims of his crimes will serve life.

The more I know, the more I realize I don't know very much about sex offenders.  I do know one thing:  Like alcoholics and drug addicts, they cannot be cured.  They have to learn their triggers, their limits, and their danger spots and avoid them.  Many will relapse.  Those are the ones for which we should be prepared because they only get better at  it.

an eye for an eye...

Quote From: tinaaubs

Unfortunately, castration does NOT stop a sexual predator.  The biggest sexual organ is the brain.  The predator still has hands, a mouth and other ways to abuse.
It is best stated in the Good Book...an eye for an eye... not only should this beast ( and all sexual molestors) be castrated ( yes, I know that this does not stop the "desire" - for lack of a better term...but also the hands need to be cut off and if necessary, the eyes be removed.  Harsh?!...not compared to what has been done to this child...think about it...she doesn't even remember it happening...she is in for a frightening future when this does come to her memory...how sad...

sick

This just makes me sick... I personally think that this country does not have harsh enough laws for these predators !!!! They should all suffer a lot more then what they do...We throw them in jail, where they can sit and do nothing, we pay for everything, and all they think of is how much more slick they can be the next time or put them to death... too easy. I hope all of us as citizens can join the law makers and come up with something better.... Too many innocent children and even adults become victims because the consequences are not enough - not even close.

one time is too many

Quote From: moonglow38

The news is saying he was sexually abused as child...most are...we want them to 'be punished' for what they did but what about the person that did this to them to start with and caused them to become so damaged they do it to other children?  Don't you see...this is a cycle of abuse.  If he hadn't been abused...he probably would have never done this in the first place.  Not saying he should get off for what he did...but we need to also realize these people don't just up and one day decide out of the blue to do this sort of stuff....they were abused first!  And studies show those that do get treatment while in prison rarely offend again...the ones that refuse treatments are the ones that re-offend.  Everyone on here seems to think ALL of them cannot be cured but this isn't true.  If they get the help they need they can control this and stop abusing. Q: How often do sex offenders really re-offend?
A: Studies indicate that approximately 5 % of treated sex offenders re-offend in a sexual way.  Untreated sex offenders re-offend approximately 7% in a sexual way.   Approximately 8% re-offend in a non-sexual, non-violent way and 3% re-offend in a non-sexual, violent way, and approximately 77% have no new offenses at all.
http://www.atsa.com/ppOffenderFacts.html
Despite myths of stranger danger, the vast majority of sexually abused children (80-90%) are molested by family members and close friends or acquaintances.

All of this may be true...however, the offense happened and should be punished drastically....not through rehab - 1 strike and you are out for life!!!!! No exceptions, no excuses...

That is exactly the problem...these monsters know that they can get away with it - that they will be free to do it again - or better yet, not get caught.  ALL predators need to be put away forever after the first offense...no forgiveness ever!!!!   They can beg for their forgiveness with the Good Lord.  If HE chooses to forgive, then so be it.  Only God can be that judge!!!
