Quote From: deraj26Unfortunately, when you call this guy a rapist, there is probably more than a 50% chance you are calling your own grandparents rapist. Are you the grandchild of a rapist? My grandmother was between 14 and 20 when she gave birth to my aunts, uncles and mother, so how dare you accuse my grandfather of being a rapist. Granted they were married, their parents consented, and it was more commonplace. Just because it's law, doesn't mean it's wrong. It depends on the circumstances.
So Dr. Phil, what you're telling me is that once children turn 18, they are magically capable of making desicions. WOW! "They don't understand the potentially, harmful consequences." Maybe you should have to be 40 before getting a credit card. That's what I consider rape. YOU CANNOT BLAME THE CHILD! But you can blame a child for murder and sentence them to death!?!?! It's either one way or the other, people.
Let's just "get real" and stop trying to argue that it's wrong. It's illegal because parents don't want their precious daughters having sex with perverted, old men and I don't either. So, in conclusion, I'm glad it's illegal, but don't ruin someone's life over it and label them as a rapist.
Back when our grandparents were young, even my parents, women did get married before the age of 18 and it wasn't looked down upon. They married young, had kids young, warned their children not to marry young and have kids young. They also had to have parents permission to marry. If they were pregnant before they were married, they were looked down upon. If they divorice, it was looked down upon, even if there was abuse. Women lived their lives for their families, most didn't work outside the home, most were controlled by the husband to a point. I do not know how old you are but I was born in 1960 and I remember a whole different world then we have now. Women stayed with husbands because they couldn't afford to raise children on their own. I bet many wished they would have waited until they were older and had a college education. At times I wish we were more like it was back then when kids came home from school and their moms were waiting at home. Where baking cookies was something we got to do with our moms and not have to worry about how bad they were. Where if we got into trouble at school, we would be in so much more trouble at home. Where people treated their loved ones with respect and husbands didn't call their wives negitive names and the kids wouldn't dare call their moms and dads or teachers or any authority figure anything disrespectful. Oh ya, and you would never have had to be "raped" by a credit card company because they didn't have credit cards back then!
Speaking of getting real... how does a credit card company "rape" you? You charge purchases to them and if you over charge on them they make mega bucks off you. You agreed to this when you took out a credit card and you agreed to this when you didn't pay off that debt right away. Can't rape the willing, and you were willing to spend. Oh by the way.. you have to be 18 to have a credit card in your own name, you can't go into any contract without being 18.
