(Original Air Date: 10/29/07) Fraud. lies. conspiracy. They may sound like the latest Washington scandal, but these are allegations of exes at war over child support. Dr. Phil's guests claim they became victims of the perfect crime when they were led to believe they fathered a child that was not biologically their own and were forced to pay. First up, Enrique says he was shocked and angered to discover he was not the father of his youngest daughter, Selina, and that she was conceived during his ex-wife, Maria's, adulterous affair. Maria says he raised Selina but then abandoned her to save money. Why does Maria say Enrique's current wife is to blame for the fractured relationship? Next, 13-year-old Selina speaks one on one with Dr. Phil. Will she decide to let the man she once called Daddy back in her life? Then, Carnell Smith, who uses the online moniker, "Man4Justice," suffered a similar fate to Enrique, and but he fought and won. He says he's tired of seeing women trap men and get away with it. A heated debate ensues between him and feminist attorney, Gloria Allred, who argues that men like Enrique should continue to act as the father ... and continue paying! Talk about the show here.

I very well GET that Enrique was duped by Maria, but that still does not change the fact that he vented his anger with Maria on Salina. She was a child, who loved him and looked up to him. I don't see how YOU can't see that He was WRONG in how he told her and his actions after that. Sure he was hurt and angry. But that does not justify the callous way he told her that her mother had slept with another man and she wasn't his daughter. Being an adult I would think he has enough maturity to handle something like that. More so than a 9 or 10 year old child.

I think that the people who need to be recognized in this situation are the step-parents who take responsibility for children who aren't thiers without complaint. Chris is willing to adopt Selina even though he knows she isn't his. That is what Enrique should have done. Why is he objecting to the adoption anyway? He is the one who doesn't want her anymore. Why can't he let her be happy and have a real Dad who will stick by her no matter what? I am in a situation where my ex doesn't deny our daughter, but he is trying everything under the sun to get out of paying child support. He hasn't ever paid and she is 7 years old. I am so lucky that she has my husband who supports both of my girls and considers both of them his daughters even though he is only the biological father of one. These are the kind of guys that need to have a show done about them. They are the true unsung heros. Way to go guys!!!

This is such a terrible subject...I have been a single mother for a long time and I could never imagine putting someone through this terrible ordeal....This woman should be punished to the MAX over this... She lied, is deceitful and should be made to pay...He should sue her for the anguish that SHE has caused EVERYONE.....I can't believe that he is being made to pay for this child...That is just a terrible thing... AND ON TOP OF EVERYTHING...WHERE THE HELL IS THE REAL FATHER OF THIS CHILD IN ALL THIS MESS. This guy should be made aware of this and should take responsibility for this child....

I am so angry

I am so angry at yesterday's show, I don't know where to start!! That mother, if you can call her that, is a horrible person. Not only did she lie and cheat on her husband, she now sits there and laughs and smiles at the situation and his pain and the child's pain. Oh, sorry, she did cry on cue when the time was appropriate! She is a dispicable excuse for a human being. She has obviously been filling the child's head with all sorts of garbage because if you listen to the child, the child is vomiting out the words she has heard from her mother. The mother has completely brainwashed this child. Clearly, by the "mother's" reactions, smiles, laugher and pious attitude, she is in this for the money...she WANTS him to pay and because the laws in this country unfairly favors mothers, she wins. The judge in the case needs to take a stand and say NO, THIS MAN IS NOT PAYING CHILD SUPPORT ANY MORE.

I feel so sorry for the man...to now know after 10 years that you were lied to and taken advantage obviously has caused him so much pain. My heart goes out to him. My heart goes out to the child that she was also lied to...by her mother. The child has anger towards the man, but what about the "mother?" Does the child not realize her mother started it and lied to everyone??!!

He should ABSOLUTELY NOT have to pay for child support and he should sue her for pain and suffering and fraud. Gloria A. is out of her mind. Just another example of a woman's lawyer running amok!!!

Oh I am angry!!!!!

Well my husband is a victim of paternity fraud he is forced to give 50% of his income to a women who has not worked 1 day in 33 years and his children his biological children are left with no financial support from their biological father. Yes he should stay involved with that young lady but he should not be forced to pay for her. In our case my husband has been paying for the last 15 years and the child's mother is so difficult to deal with we are unable to see the child which we and only we support.

I am not judging anyone. I was offering suggestions.

I certinly have been through situations like this and I can understand.

I am sorry very about your situation. I am sure it is difficult.

I am surprized that no one has said anything about MARIA!!! She is not only a liar but she has brain washed both of those girls to think what she has done is OK. After Dr. Phil spoke to the child I could clearly see that that child was promted by mom because mom has repeated that it is his responsibility to take care of her. What Maria is doing and has done is all about the money , if she needs money to take care of the child find her biological father or get a job where she can take care of her child without lying and stealing to feed her children. She has a man now and if he is willing to support that child then let him but I am a women and always on the women's side until today Maria. You have embarrassedmall women and you need to quit. You have made your personal fight with your X in your daughters fight and still continue to want to punish him for not wanting to be with you! STOP IT become a real women admit your wrong and pay the man his money back!!!!!!!

BRAVO TO THIS POSTING!! I AGREE 100% TO ALL OF IT!! MARIA SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO ENRIQUE AND SILENA AND SHOW REMORSE! MARIA DID THIS TO HER DAUGHTER, NOT ENRIQUE.

I cannot even believe the lack of remorse on the mother's part!!!!!! What kind of person are you? Obviously one that has no heart and has seriously lost their moral compass!!!!! Not only should the mom be apologizing to Enrique (and dropping the child support request) but she should be apologizing to her children for tearing their family apart!!!! And you know for sure that she is making the situation worst by badmouthing Enrique and blaming him. You can't tell me that Selina would have felt that Enrique stepped out of the picture because of money if her mom had not been putting that idea in her head! Once again she is making Selina deal with adult problems and once again putting the blame on someone other than herself.

Her claim that Enrique should not have stopped his relationship with Enrique is a load of CRAP!!! She doesn't actually care about that at all which she makes obvious by asking for child support and continuing to bitch about it!! But she cannot hold the biological father responsible for child support either because that is another person she has decieved. It is not his responsibility to pay for her deceipt either. Though you would hope he would want a relationship with her, does he even know she exists???

Enrique, Selina, the biological father, and the other daughter are the victims here!! The mother has no right to claim any victimazation!!!! I feel INCREDIBLY bad for Selina!!! Because of what really in the end her mom is to blame for! And I feel bad for her sister and Enrique. There is not a question that Enrique loves her. But dealing with the pain may be more than most people can bare.

I'd like to comment on yesterday's show. It upset me so much, I decided to register so I could comment.

After that show, I can now sympathize and understand why men today, question the paternity of any child said to be their's.

If I were a man, I would to. It's women like that, that make it bad for the rest of us. Not to mention the hassle, inconvience and great upset they cause everyone involved.

In my opinion the guest speaking hit it on the head when he said all financial obligation should sieze once true paternity has been established, and that emotional support doesn't have to stop.

Why should anyone be held financially accountable for anything that is not theirs'. To me its ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

If the courts want to hold anyone accountable, it should be the mother. Women who want to behave in such a manner, should be charged for withholding information and wasting the courts time. And they should also be ordered to pay back monies that were not rightfully theirs' .

Enrique was wrong in how he handled the news with Selena--big time!! However, he should not have to pay financial support for a child that is not his. He and the girls were all deceived. Let them go after the birth father! She should not go on deceiving everyone and get away with it. But she should allow Enrique and Selena to have whatever time the two of them want to have together. That tie should not be severed unless of a mutual consent between the two of them.
