happy-go-lucky

Quote From: teri_id

I am home after a couple of weeks of "play".  It is funny, because I am learning that no amount of planning a trip means you will actually follow the itinerary.

Our original plan had been to go to Vancouver Island and paddle the ocean there.  We never made it past Northern Washington.  I felt dissapointed, yet I knew that my boyfriend was right...we didn't have the knowledge or the skills to do the great open ocean paddling.  We needed more information.  We did do some ocean paddling, just nothing multi-day.  We had a lovely time, I loved surfing, and I learned I like seafood...when it is fresh.

I also learned that I can speak up about how I feel.  I learned that I don't have to pretend to be ok with something when I am not.  I have also learned that this is not the end of the world.

I have missed the boards, missed the interactions and the wisdoms.  I have read to get "caught up" and I think I am up to speed on everyone.

Sounds like life has continued to happen and life is a bowl of cherries, bananas, and the occasional prune.  We all get to pick what we eat from the bowl, don't we?

Thanks everyone and I am glad to be back!

Teri

Hello Teri, I am happy, with all knowledge has a creative and interesting individual writing them,

many thanks for your many contributions.  In learning about ourself, ongoing, with many people of different ages, that are on-line, wisdom-of-the ages, (I was thinking about ripening selves) as yourself has a nice ring to it, I feel.

A little bit of calm

Quote From: hisjewel

Well, it is true that you can't change what you don't acknowlede but when you look at the question, what am I not satisfied with in my life and your answer is nothing is ever good enough well haaaaaaa how in the world do I change that!!!  I mean sure I  know it's possible but well yeah I don't know what I am talking about.  LOL

is to look at things, is to see the slopes that we have crossed, the rivers we allowed ourself (at least in getting there) to be swept down etc.  Are we are a better person for it?  If we are a little bit calmer, for example, if the same situation arises, we have not only recognised it, but we have improved immensely.

Current feelings

I'm not altogether pleased with the new format, I'm not sure where to go to when I come on-line.

What I have or have not communicated and what I need to.

I'll just say:

if being true to ourself, is when the skills we need are up to the challenge, and that includes emotional truths being expressed in an affective way, that our own inner truths includes enough factors so we have to share things, improve, to move forward and that to keep things that don't relate to ourself, hang on like a sloth, will only delay or confuse the issue,

it seems that the intuitive can work this out better than most, that does not have the same reliance on factual interpretation but a swift and affective appraisal of causes and most probable possibilities.

so many things to talk about

Quote From: ritehere

This trail is on Pikes Peak correct? I did a short search but couldn't find it.

Ritehere, I was wondering about your nickname, for this site.  Everyone (enough so) knows that 'Taemanai' relates to perserverance in Japanese.

I was thinking about the many roads and tracks you've travelled.  That each place is not there or past but 'ritehere', that nothing needs to be found but for the experienced walker, can be seen or worked out, like mountain peaks, by following contours etc..

Reading

We read for personal journey foremost.  To carry as a pack, containing we already know but haven't yet progressed any further.  The relationship we have to a newer place.

Notes to being ourself

Quote From: longstory

If you know the events that have driven your self-concept, and you can identify the reactions that you've had to those events, then you know what the levers are that you can pull to change it.

The map we have each created.  The 'X' where we think we are.  If we could communicate this, would people know who we are, and would not make assumptions or rely on getting lost there themselves.

There is something to be said about opposites attract, as one cannot navigate North if there is no South.

moving levers, altering perspectives....  this (supposedly realistic quote) makes me think of 'Mr Squiggle'

It's kind of daunting to pick a name for yourself. You don't want to seem too self important, or too self effacing. And since I "live" primarily on this board, I wanted a name that described where I'm at now in my life.
I had been practicing living in the moment, coming to understand the connectedness of everything and everybody.
For the first time in my life, I'm not agonising over the past, or worrying about the future.

I'm right here.

Just sprung to mind

We can't lose what we don't have.

(I'm thinking of freedom to live)
