(Original Air Date: 11/01/07) Dr. Phil explores a disturbing trend: Female teachers engaging in sex acts with their underage male students. The number of accusations has doubled in the past five years. You've probably heard of famous cases like Mary Kay Letourneau, and Debra LaFave and the recent case of a teacher in Southern California, Meredith Johnson Vincent, who was arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy. Dr. Phil meets one teacher who has chosen to fight back. Joelle Ogletree was a respected high school French teacher until she was accused of sexual misconduct by three of her students. Find out what goes through a mother's head as she faces 160 years in prison. Plus, the Dr. Phil show speaks with one of the boys who says the sexual improprieties absolutely did happen and claims he passed a polygraph examination. When he agrees to take another test for Dr. Phil, what do his answers reveal? Joelle has been banned from even volunteering at her daughter's school because of the accusations. Should she be allowed back in the classroom? Watch and decide: Do you believe her ... or her students? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

Why are you attacking her attitude:

Dr. Phil:

I believe, after watching only 3/4 of Part 1, that this teacher is innocent.  I do not understand why you would expect her to be showing any other emotion that the 'matter of fact' one she is displaying.  This woman has been through this over and over again and I'm quite sure she is still very angry about this situation but she realizes that a display of anger is of no value any longer so she is telling you the plain facts - it's just that simple.  I wouldn't expect any more of her; why are you?

160 years penalty????

The teacher could have been sentenced to 160 years in prison if convicted? Insane! The judicial system in Texas and the judicial system in all the other states throughout this damned country are ridiculous! Heck, the Enron jerks got off with short sentences because white crime pays! But sex? Oh, brother--this country sucks when it comes to sex issues. Get rid of your prudish behavior, Americans! And I don't mean regarding sexual relations between teachers and students.

TEACHER/STUDENT RELATIONSHIO

AS A PARENT WHO IS GOING THRU THIS RIGHT NOW WITH MY DAUGHTER. THIS MAKES ME SICK.WE LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN IN TEXAS.WE FOUND OUT EASTER WEEKEND THAT A 37YR OLD TEACHER WAS HAVING SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH OUR 17YR OLD DAUGHTER. HE WAS OUR FRIEND AS WELL AS A TEACHER. THIS HAS COMPLETLY DESTROYED OUR FAMILY. TEACHERS ARE IN SUCH POWER POSITIONS. WHEN THEY ABUSE IT THEY HURT EVERYONE AROUND US. THE HARDEST THING WE HAVE EVER DONE IS COME FWD WITH THIS. BUT WE COULD NOT LET HIM GET BY WITH THIS AND DO IT AGAIN. AS PARENTS WE HAVE TO STAND UP FOR OUR CHILDREN BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL. WE HAVE TO TAKE A STAND AND SAY WE ARE NOT GOING TO TOLERATE THIS BEHAVIOR ANYMORE. WE HAVE TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN. I AM HEARTBROKEN FOR MY DAUGHTER.SHE IS NOT THE SAME PERSON WE KNEW 7MOS AGO. AS A COUNTRY WE HAVE TO CRY OUT FOR SOMEONE TO PUT IN PLACE STRICTER LAWS TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN.

I agree. I have been in a situation when I had to explain events over and over. In the beginning I cried through the entire statement. Six months later in court I was calm, cool and collected (until I just couldn't control my emotions and was terrified on the defendant). I understand the way she was able to handle herself so well.

Teacher Sex Scandal

Great Show Docter Phil.  I happened upon the telecast today and was shocked by the lack of truth in a person's soul.  Time will tell 10-20-30-40 years from now if today's madness has been overlooked and perpetuated into something greater such as thievery or a murderer.  I trust justice will be prevail and that hope the blind will see even in rural Texas.  Because even if the covering of family helps us in this life (Acts 16:30-32).  On the day of judgement, each man stands alone.

kids do lie and adults have to see through this

I was a teenager. I told lies. lies that I knew would gain me the respect of my family and friends. You asked the question why would this teenager say something so damaging. I will tell you why. There are a few reasons why I told lies when I was young. One reason would be to get myself out of trouble. To take the light off of me and put it on someone else. The next reason would be to gain recognition from my friends. to be the one that was the first to do something. In this case, the first to have an experience with a girl. the nest reason would be to fulfill my own evil thoughts. to make my own fantasy come true. when i lied i would actually sit down and think out the lie from start to finish. i would look at it from my own perspective to that of my friends and try to understand it from an adult point of view so that i could try to stay consistent. I am not happy about my lies but I will tell you that as a child I was good at it.   Adults are very quick to say kids are kids and kids know this. As a kid i knew that adults would listen to our lies and i knew that if i got bad grades or i did something my parents would find out about i knew how to tell a lie to get the bad that i did almost erased away and get my parents to listen to my lies to not get in trouble and most of the time it worked. the more it worked the more lies i told to get myself out of trouble. Do not think that kids do not think through lies and distortions to get out of trouble. You are mistakenly wrong about that.

I'm not sure that most of you really understand

I'm a high school teacher.  A few years back a student didn't like the response that I gave his friend (not him, that's really important here) who had asked me a question about the appropriateness of his shirt.  The student was wearing a shirt which depicted Osama Bin Ladden inside a gun telescope.  HIs friend asked me what I though and replied  honesty "You know, I don't ever think it's OK to promoted the killing of humans, but why not ask the assistant Principal".  MATT didn't like my response to his friend, Matt wasn't even involved in the conversation, I didn't even know that he was listening to this converation that  his friend had begun with me.  MATT began telling lies about me to everyone in the school that he could, most importantly, everyone who had power over me.  MATT had a 504 a FederalLegal document that said that he was to have certain accommodations made for him, and he began to INTENTIONALLY make my life miserable.  After 6 months of HELL, of having to defend my every move in the classroom, MATTS mother admitted to me that MATT was angry with me for what I said to his friend.  She knew this all along, he had admitted to her that he was INENTENTIONALLY trying to get me fired and she said "he's just  being a boy".  I had already decided that if I wasn't able to come to some agreement or understanding with Matt and/or his mother, and my job WAS BEING threatened at the time, that if I had lost my job I was going to sue this MATT for Slander and Leibel.  What I was put through was unacceptable, I was  just lucky that I had a department coordinator who believed me.  It becomes like a game to kids.  A kid who would do this doesn't care about my life or my job.  And for the record, his mother was a lawyer.

Teacher Porn Fantasies on line

One of the realities of the internet is that every possible sexual fantasy is available for viewing. A lot of it is free. Google this:

hot teacher porn xxx

Some of these sites are very specific. You can select the age of the woman, the color of her hair, the setting (classroom, car, home), the specific sexual interaction, and how many participants are involved. It's no wonder that the boys' descriptions are so detailed!

Poor Joelle. She's young and attractive, and with that beautiful name, I'm sure she's been the object of more than one high school boy's fantasies. If she seems a bit reserved, I'm guessing that after 5+ years of accusations, media attention and trials, she's a bit numb. It's not over yet for her. It may never be.
