(Original Air Date: 11/01/07) Dr. Phil explores a disturbing trend: Female teachers engaging in sex acts with their underage male students. The number of accusations has doubled in the past five years. You've probably heard of famous cases like Mary Kay Letourneau, and Debra LaFave and the recent case of a teacher in Southern California, Meredith Johnson Vincent, who was arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy. Dr. Phil meets one teacher who has chosen to fight back. Joelle Ogletree was a respected high school French teacher until she was accused of sexual misconduct by three of her students. Find out what goes through a mother's head as she faces 160 years in prison. Plus, the Dr. Phil show speaks with one of the boys who says the sexual improprieties absolutely did happen and claims he passed a polygraph examination. When he agrees to take another test for Dr. Phil, what do his answers reveal? Joelle has been banned from even volunteering at her daughter's school because of the accusations. Should she be allowed back in the classroom? Watch and decide: Do you believe her ... or her students? Tell us what you think!

Find out what happened on the show.

11/01 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 1

Quote From: innocent5

I don't know why that he had to hide his identity when everyone from Glen Rose knows who he is on the show.  All 3 of the boys were all little punks in school and all they wanted was attention.  I believe she is innocent so the town of Glen Rose needs to stop being so stuck up and get over it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a couple of things stuck out for me,

1) This was a small town, and one thing I KNOW about small towns especially if Daddy is the Mayor, ex mayor or a prominent figure, the people will belive you or at least make on like they do because the normal person has a preconceived notion that your family is infallible, or that you have no way of fighting them anyway.

2)One Polygraph says he's being truthful one says he's lying (the very reason they aren't used in the courts ).

3)Mommy standing right there beside him, he's not about to recant his story.

4)The whole "I'm a Christian, I wouldn't do that ", give me a freakin break.

Sounded more to me that she wouldn't give them a break on their French mark or something, and as for her lack of emotion that the Doc pointed out, NO ONE KNOWS how they will react to ANY given situation until they are placed in it, that INCLUDES the Doc HIMSELF, if she had of been teary eyed and bawling hysterically, many would be saying she was playing it up for the cameras, so no matter how much or little she showed she couldn't win.

I'm going more toward her, but I'm going to see what happens tommorrow.

I think she's innocent!!! If one kid recanted his story, and the other kid flunked the polygraph, what more do you need? This is a witchhunt if I ever saw one!!

I give 'em a C minus

Makin' out with your high school French teacher....mmmm...mmmm.mmmm

Now there's a teenage boy's wet dream come true!

And she's really hot, too!   I'll bet that after she dumped her big-belly clothes for her pre-pregnant wear that they thought she was just doing it for them....personally  Oh boy-O-boy!

Can you imagine their pubescent little fantasies... French teacher at her desk...hand up her skirt...clumsily touching each other like...like -- well, LIKE A 14 YEAR OLD's FANTASY about his hot, young, high school French teacher.

You know, if she had actually come on to these boys, she would have taught them a bit more about mature sexuality, not some boy-virgin's imagined fumbling around in the panties day masturbational fantasy.  If she had really had sex with these young self-proclaimed studs, they'd have some really good stories to tell.

I can't believe anyone bought this.

Hmmm.....maybe the men on the school board had their own little sexual fantasies about her.  Oh Ms. French teacher!  Heck, maybe the women did too.  I mean, she's really hot, right?

After all, hot women are to blame..  I mean, they're askin' for it, right?  They should all dress like cold-war Russian potato farmers just to keep the men from being tempted.  They should wear clothing that covers their bodies.  And that sexy, flowing, long hair -- she needs to wear it up in a tight little bun.....mmmm...tight little buns....no! cross that out -- she should wear something to cover her hair up completely!  A scarf maybe...

I got it!  She should wear a head to toe burka -- like those women in Afghanistan.

Yep, that's the solution.

11/01 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 1

Quote From: sweetladie

Let's take into consideration that this happened some 5 years ago. She is probably all cried out. Have you ever thought that she is trying to get her life back together for her self and her family! I do think that if she has nothing to hide that she should take the polygraph test.

Wow. This writer must live in that same small-minded town where this all happened. She already HAS taken a polygraph test and she PASSED it. These three punks took this teacher's life and career away from her and ruined them.

Enough already. I hope she bankrupts that school system when her lawsuit is decided.

And also, let's take into account that she was found INNOCENT already in a court of LAW, why should she have to further humiliate herself ?

11/01 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 1

Quote From: luannet

man, these Texans love to harass sex offenders.  I moved to Austin less than 2 years ago and I have heard more sexual predator stories here than I have my whole life combined!  It's the lead on the news most every night, there is NO "innocent until proven guilty" theory around here.  In fact, last night for Halloween, the lead story was "let's go check on the registered sex offenders"......the news stations will give out full names and full addresses....it's pathetic.  Thus far, I am not impressed with Texans....

Perhaps this Megan's Law needs to be reviewed.  In the meantime, I hope this woman will continue to fight until her name is clear because if she stays in Texas, they will NEVER leave her alone again.  I'm so sorry this happened....Love, Luanne

You ain't seen nothing yet. Spend some time in South Dakota. You won't believe how they sensationalize sex offender cases up here. I've not heard names and addresses given out routinely over the radio every day....yet....but if some honcho reads about Texas doing it, I guarrantee they'll push for doing the same thing here. This Republican conservative majority state is laughable at the ways they try to invent to interfere in other people's lives.

I feel terrible for what's happened to this woman. When this is all said and done, should not only finish her lawsuit againist that biased school district. she should also go after each and every one of those little liar's families and sue them 'till hell wouldn't have it. Then, take her winnings and leave that redneck town forever. And, oh yes. Make the school district AND those liar's families take out full page apologies and retractions in every newspaper in the state for what they put her though and ADMIT their viscious lies.

To me, that would be a great start.

11/01 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 1

Quote From: outcome212

qouting that you said sex ed is for the parents to teach. I walk in the mall here in NYC and I see at least 35 or more teenaged girls between 12- 17 dressed in clothes that would make a street walker blush. Parents have little to no control over there kids anymore. Working retail I have seen children tell mothers and fathers to shut the F up to leave them the F alone and so on. I'll tell you this when i was 12 I became sexually active and my biggest fantasy was with one of my teachers. I would have done anything in this world for it to have happened between us although it never did I fantasized about her all the time and like someone posted before its only when the parents come and and say hey thats bad the boy goes " Oh crap i was raped"
Watching todays episode I don't know who to believe more. The boy that was on there sounded completely rehearsed in everything that he was saying like someone wrote a page and he had to memorize it. The teacher seemed surprised rather then relieved at the outcome of the polygraph and her unwillingness to take a polygraph herself suggests some sort of guilt.

Do I think its wrong and sick for an adult to have sexual relations with a child? Absolutly. If she is found guilty or something turns up she should go to jail, however, 160 years is insane for this its not the same as a man raping a woman or a pediphile raping a little girl boys think differently then women and its not a traumatising experience for these boys more like a great wonderful thing that everyone should have.
My tendency about the teacher not taking the polygraph is the same.  However, that is very short sited because we must realize that her lawyer advised her not to do that.  She has already been found Innocent, and her lawyer would have breached his responsibility to his client had he advised differently.

I am a teacher

1.  As a teacher, we were told NEVER to be alone with a child.  ALWAYS have more than one child in the room with you.  She was alone with a student....NOT SMART.

2.  I would NEVER dream of having a child from school over to my house.  If she had students over to her home, that is just asking for trouble...NOT SMART on her part.

3.  The moral of the story.....never be alone with a high school student and never invite them to your home.

Sorry, I don't believe her or him..

I don't beleive the teacher, I think there is a lot she is NOT telling. While she explained away his statements, like with the skirt issues and which was the "requested" event and last event etc., it felt like she was being deceptive. The boy who failed the test is lying too. He can't go back and say he was lying, he'd be in too much trouble and look bad. I think he joined the bandwagon and can't get out.

But tomorrow's show may be a lot different. I just have a feeling that she protests too much and is far from being totally innocent... something is up and we'll see tomorrow - but I don't think she is an innocent victim at all.
