(Original Air Date: 11/02/07) Dr. Phil continues his look at a teacher sex scandal that has a school and families divided in a small town in Texas. High school teacher Joelle Ogletree faces accusations of sexual misconduct with some of her male students. Joelle claims she's completely innocent but reluctantly agrees to face Matt, one of her accusers, in person. When Dr. Phil drills down into the details of the case, it's her word against his. Matt maintains that when Joelle was his high school French teacher, she came on to him. He says that as a student he received sexually explicit notes from her, but that the notes were written in code. See the encrypted messages and judge for yourself: Are they provocative or harmless? Then hear how Joelle and Matt interpret them. Plus, Matt agreed to take a polygraph test and have the results reviewed by an independent examiner. Find out what the test reveals and how Matt reacts when he hears them read aloud, as he sits face to face with Joelle. Hear both sides of this gripping sex scandal from the accuser and the accused, and judge for yourself if justice has been served. Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

My friend and I were at the taping of this show. We were so puzzled when we left. I think that something was definitely going on with these boys and her. The way she reacted to this boy was very odd. She showed no emotion and this boy had supposedly ruined her life with a lie. I'm not sure what exactly was going on between them, but something was. I felt sorry for her husband.
I have to say that although people can look at her reactions (or lack of reaction) and judge her, the fact is that she held her head high, answered the questions and all 3 of the boys were proven to be either lying or backing out of the accusation.  After going through such a dilemma for so long I can only imagine the toll this has taken on her, her husband, her family and her career.  I feel bad for her and her family.  The fact is that there are many teachers out there that take advantage but I truly don't think she was one.  I think all of my emotional energy would be used up by this point.  If she screamed and yelled or showed too much emotion then people would say she's faking it.  She is in a lose lose situation!!

defending

I watched the show again an I hope that people read this message.

Guilty people defend the accusation. Innocent people profess the truth.

The teacher kept defending herself, by trying to punch holes in the boy's story. She never said that she was at the movies or in the teacher's lounge with anoher teacher or at the DMV. she had t be some whereif she wa ot with the boys. Where is her eye witness.  Even if she was home alone, she could have told what TV show she was watching.

Why doe she not do this? Because, when you tell a lie and tell a story, the other side just has to prove that you have no proof and you are forever stuck with that story. If it the truth, then she would tell her story and present her evidence. Speaking of evidence, se has presented none.

When a police officer makes an arrest, they always try to get the story before an attorney comes an coaches them. She is being coached but thetruh needs no coaching.

11/02 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 2

I believe the teacher was telling the truth. I would love to figure out when the accusations were made. Probably right after the one teacher was found guilty of having sex with her students. The kids seem to have something against the husband of the female teacher. Saying it was wrong for him to marry his former student. I think the kids came up with this story to ruin the teachers life. They should man up and stop destroying her. Be a man, say your sorry, and get on with your life.

Catching Boys in lie

I'm a pretty good judge of character and expected to find out that the teacher was guilty of something with the students.  Then I realized that her and I share some characteristics.  I have been accused of being "masculine" and "uncaring" because I don't show emotion.  I am sorry, but there is no way anyone is going to make me cry or loose it.  I feel that kind of attitude helped the towns people turn against her.  She does have a law suit against the district because due process was not followed;  a violation of her contract.  I hope all teachers realize the importance of joining thier union.

NOW ABOUT BOYS LYING
Anyone who has had sex with young boys or had sex with a male for his first time or after a period of abstinance knows that these boys are lying.  Boys will have an orgasm before the blow job even starts.  Any stripper will tell you that many young men will have an orgasm without their penis even being handled by them.

11/02 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 2

Quote From: justamerican

There have been many times I have screamed at the TV because something that seems so obvious to me never gets discussed.  Those BOYS - 14/15 year old boys are lying!

While not 'proud' to say that I willingly began engaging in sex at 14 (I'm female) - I did so with 5 boys over a period of 3 years. The youngest was 14, the oldest 18.  And guess what? EVERY ONE OF THEM "lost their load" so to speak after just a few strokes of my hand on their penis during the beginning of a relationship.  I finally discovered that I needed to have them masturbate before we 'engaged' in sexual activity.  Otherwise 'nada' for me.

And it's not just 14 year olds either.  I can still tease an eager 25 year old guy to the point that a little 'dry humping' will get the desired results within minutes.

The boy on the telephone today (Thursday 11/1/07) described his encounters with the teacher without ever saying he ejaculated.  I'm sorry, but if she was so 'very sexy and flirtatious" and that boy didn't get his rocks off within seconds of her hand rubbing his penis???  And on three separate occassions no less? Unbelivable.  The mother's of these boys and others like them need to check under their mattresses for the PENTHOUSE FORUM magazines. And tell the boys to notice that 95% of the 'tales' submited are done so by men.

Awesome insight.   I didn't notice that until you mentioned it.  And totally fits my experience.

11/02 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 2

Quote From: linbla

I was surprised that Dr. Phil kept commenting on the teacher's response. This did not happen yesterday. She has probably been taught by her lawyers  to pay attention to facts and details and not to let her emotions blind her ability to focus. To cry and just keep saying it never happened would prove nothing. It is in focusing on details like dates, car lights, clothing  etc. that she proved her innocence. I would think that when she was first dragged into this she  would have been emotionally distraught. I was disappointed that Dr. Phil acted surprised at her responses. I felt they were the responses of a strong  ,innocent wife and mother determined to undo the damage these boys have caused her and her family.

I was trying to write this and it was not coming out but fortunately you said it.

I have been falsely accused of something when the accuser really felt threatened by me.  Fortunately, others were able to colaborate this.  Let me just say that it is not as simple as you might think watching TV on the couch.  And this situation is like 100000x more complex than mine.

11/02 Teacher Sex Scandal, Pt. 2

Quote From: robbie_sue

I think the questions asked by the lie detector administrator were too indirect, interpretive and subjective to be valid. The questions should have been simple, direct and succinct.

First Question: Did you lie to me today when you told me you have had sexual relations with Joelle Ogletree?  He may be telling the truth that they engaged in sexual activity, but not 100% honest about some particular detail of the incident (like how long a kiss lasted or whether they kissed or not). Why not just ask "Have you ever had physical sexual relation with Joelle Ogletree?"  "Has Joelle ever kissed you?" "Have you ever kissed Joelle?"

Second Question: Today when you told me about having sexual contact with Joelle Ogletree in her classroom, were you lying to me? Again, maybe he wasn't honest about one detail. Maybe they didn't just "stop for some reason" as he said. Maybe they stopped because he spewed himself right on the floor, but he didn't want to say that. So, if he lied about that part of it, and the administrator asked "were you lying to me" then the deceptive answer would be no. Why not just ask "Did you ever at any time have any form of sexual contact with Joelle Ogletree in her classroom?"

There may be inconsistencies in the details of the stories, but the big question is plain and simple. Did the teacher engage in any inappropriate physical or sexual contact with any one of those students? And I didn't see her taking a lie detector test to disprove that.

The question were anything but indirect.  They were very explicit.  A polyghrapher must ask questions in a specific format for the test to have valid results.  They cannot ask questions in "plain language".  Also, a professional polygrapher will script the questions in advance to ensure they are not subjective.

I must take polygraphs regularly as part of my job and have discussed the process with professional polyghraphers.  As one poster stated, the questions were straight out of the book.  The polygrapher interviewed the young me first then asked questions pertaining to the veracity of their statements.

If they "stop for some reason" they would obviously have had to start sexual relation.  By the way, spewing on the floor would most definately be defined as the result of sexual relations.

Finally the questions are repeated several times but worded differently.  This helps the polygrapher differentiate between nervousness and lying.

Just a HUNCH and I'm usually right.

I don't see anyone coming on national television stating they will do a lie detector test if they are telling lies.  I think the details were sketchy for the young man... he was a boy when this occured and is now a young man.  Only God knows the truth as do both of them, but my hunch is that she is guilty.  She's married to an old man (used to be HER teacher), had a baby so she felt blah and any attention she received building up her confidence was probably rode out more than the carpet of Aladin.  The fact she wouldn't agree to take a lie detector speaks VOLUMES.  When you have nothing to hide you wouldn't think of doing anything OTHER than taking that test to prove your innocense.  I feel she deserves another chance in her community in regards to being apart of the eduction of her children, but that her career as a teacher is tainted and unrepairable in the society we live in.  Fact is that young man on show two passed one test and failed the other.  That speaks volumes.

Second thoughts after the second show

After watching the first part of this show, I was convinced that this teacher was innocent. I was outraged by the toll this took on herself, her husband, her children and their finances.

After seeing the second show, though, I have to admit I started wondering what the heck was going on.  She has a "French camp" at her home and, as far as I can tell, there were only male students there?  And what really pushed out of her camp and into the undecided category was the coded notes. What is up with that?  I'm not buying her version of what the notes meant.  If her best version of the story is to admit that she, a teacher, was calling one of her students "stupid", I really have to wonder.......
