(Original Air Date: 11/02/07) Dr. Phil continues his look at a teacher sex scandal that has a school and families divided in a small town in Texas. High school teacher Joelle Ogletree faces accusations of sexual misconduct with some of her male students. Joelle claims she's completely innocent but reluctantly agrees to face Matt, one of her accusers, in person. When Dr. Phil drills down into the details of the case, it's her word against his. Matt maintains that when Joelle was his high school French teacher, she came on to him. He says that as a student he received sexually explicit notes from her, but that the notes were written in code. See the encrypted messages and judge for yourself: Are they provocative or harmless? Then hear how Joelle and Matt interpret them. Plus, Matt agreed to take a polygraph test and have the results reviewed by an independent examiner. Find out what the test reveals and how Matt reacts when he hears them read aloud, as he sits face to face with Joelle. Hear both sides of this gripping sex scandal from the accuser and the accused, and judge for yourself if justice has been served. Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

she didnt do it

I actually thought at the beginning of the show she could be guilty... then throughout the show there were just to many things that didnt make sense.  I did however think that dr phil was wanting a huge reaction out of the teacher and after this long I would only be pissed and want to catch the boys lying.  I think that she did the right thing by questioning the small things the boys said.  I think if this just happened yes she should be very emotional but now I would just really want to clear my name too.  you were to harsh on her.  Them boys just didnt want to be known as liers in there town.

This was insane

This show was very different.  I am glad to see that the teacher in this incident, was not lying.  I totally believe her.  I am against petafiles, but this show has clearly proved that those boys are liars.  I feel sympathy for the teacher and I hope that she gets her life back and everyone sees this whole ordeal for what it truely is.

Teachers sex scandal

I have to say that seeing this show makes me very afraid to put my children in school.  I have a five year old who will be starting kindergarten soon, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do.  I didn't know that this was getting to be such a problem until watching this.  I had heard of a few situations, but I didn't know that it was common.  I actually found out not long ago that a teacher from the high school I attended was fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.  This is a very disturbuing trend.
Sadly this isn't a new trend, this stuff happened when my sisters were in high school, when I was in high school. its only now making the news.

GET READY!!!

The Glen Rose School Board and the Parents of these 2 Lying boys better get their checkbooks ready, because this woman is not going to give up until they give back financially for at least something that has been taken from them.

Not only she needs to have vindication but all the other teachers who stand to be in her place, who might be accused.

There should be a foundation to where these teachers have a place to go and have the where with all to help fight their battles against such student or school board actions.

yours truly,

Still on the teacher's side

Quote From: anitalynn0126

I spent over 30 years interviewing people for suspicion of fraud.  Something is not right about that teacher's story.  I do not believe she told the whole truth.  I  think that young man did experience something or know of someone who did.   I watched the faces of both and that teacher did not look that you man directly --- initially.  The young man did OFTEN look her in the face as he stated what happened and with such clarity.
I think she seemed embarrassed by the whole thing. I know I would. She was mad as hell, to be sure. Don't you think that most people don't look right at the person they are mad at ? He seemed to be trying to get back at her for rejecting his advances. She was controling her reactions because that's what ladies do.
She crossed the line in a few areas , I agree. The notes were one of them as welll as asking the boys to come to her house ; not a good thing.

Dr. Phil didn't get it right this time

I felt Dr. Phil was harsh in his assessment of the teacher's reactions to the accusations.  He didn't think she was reacting "normally" for a person in her compromised position.  I believe her responses were quite normal considering that she's already been going through this mess for a number of years (in other words, the accusations are not "news" to her at this point, evoking the original emotional "normal" response) and she is now taking an analytical approach.  She's already been through the extreme emotional aspects and is now listening for the inconsistencies, gathering data for future court appearances, etc.  She knows she can't win unless she is calm and prepared.

I don't believe any of the boys.  I think they got caught up in this situation and can't find the courage to do the right thing (but for the one who couldn't prove out his accusations and recanted).  They are immature and unable to step up to the plate.  I believe they would have let her serve time at this point to save face and not cause embarrassment to themselves or their family and community.  That is the criminal act.  And I think they should serve time for the humiliating accusations, including the boy who recanted.  This would send the message that you can't play God with people's lives, hearts, marriages and standing in the community and then just walk away unscathed.

I love Dr. Phil, but this is one time I thought he erred in his evaluation.  His parting comment (paraphrased) was "It must be frustrating to you (the boy)" with reference to the polygraph.  This boy is a liar and didn't deserve even minimal support, in my opinion.  The frustration he refers to should be saved for the teacher, wrongly accused of heinous acts.

I Agree

My friend and I were at the taping of this show. We were so puzzled when we left. I think that something was definitely going on with these boys and her. The way she reacted to this boy was very odd. She showed no emotion and this boy had supposedly ruined her life with a lie. I'm not sure what exactly was going on between them, but something was. I felt sorry for her husband.

The teacher didn't act as upset as most would when confronting the student.  Her only concern was the details that he didn't get exactly right.  I think she is guilty.  Why would these boys go through all the lie detector tests, courtroom drama and public ridicule that they could possibly receive if it weren't true?

As a mother of two high school boys,  I would be outraged at something like this happening to them.  They would probably have to put me in jail when I found out what this teacher had done.  We put our trust in their teachers and they are suppose to protect our children when they are with them.  I hope she doesn't teach anyone elses children in the future.

I think the fact she had been dealing with this for 6 years, and you could tell she was nervous about having to face the boy. I think she was dealing with the facts so she wouldn't break down on TV. Plus can you image having to talk about this in front of a lot of people and a whole camera crew, that has to be a little scary. I couldn't have done that, I would be sooooo nervous.

Teacher sex scandal

First of all these boys failed their poly.  Second of all this poor woman has been from hell and back she probably is on anti-depressants and that could factor her lack of emotion.  She is numb.  I feel so sorry for her, they should sue the school system.

You couldn't pay me to be a teacher these days.

FEMALE STUDENT

Every one has forgotten, that the boys did nt initiate the complaint A female student complained about what she percieved as inappropiate behavior by the teacher. This started an investiation which led to the boys who were raped by her. If the female student had not gone to administration, the boys they said, likely woud have taken the story to their grave. And, the poem did not identify the teacher. If it had, she would have been fired 6 years ago.
