From a celebrity’s controversial meltdown caught on tape to nooses cropping up around the country, Dr. Phil and Bishop T.D. Jakes tackle tough racial issues. First up, Dog the Bounty Hunter spewed slurs in a phone conversation with his son, Tucker, and used the N-word repeatedly when referring to Tucker’s black girlfriend, Monique. Monique’s mother, Linda Shinnery, joins the Dr. Phil show via satellite and says she was appalled by Dog’s tirade. Should the reality TV star lose his job over a private conversation? Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, rapper Master P, and BET correspondent Jeff Johnson weigh in. Then, nooses, a symbol of hatred for African-Americans, are cropping up more and more across the country – from Jena, Louisiana to Columbia University in New York. Najee Ali, founder and co-director of Project Islamic Hope, shares his views on empowering the black community and combating stereotypes. Don’t miss this intense debate about racism and sensitivity in America, and find out how you can educate your children. Join the discussion.

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: jdillner

Why in the world should Dog the Bounty Hunter come on Dr. Phil?  Why in the world is Dr. Phil doing this anyway?  The guy is a character...like a white Mr. T.  He's not a moral example.  He's just a kind of wild outrageous character.  Why should he go on Dr. Phil and be skewered and roasted by some panel of race experts?  Let the guy alone to work out his own mess and stop making shows like this.

I think that Dr. Phil and Bishop Jakes could help him quite a bit.  Dog is obviously miserable right now.

The dogs true colors have finally come out

it is hard for me to see that people are defending the dog

my wife and i also used to be fans and rarely missed an episode

that is until the dog visited our city to give an inspirational speech

while on the airplane to our city the dog was informed that his luggage had been lost on route

the dog and his wife then started in on the flight attendant berating him and causing a disturbance on the plane to the extent that the police had to be called to meet the airplane

then while at the lost baggage counter they tried throwing their celebrity status around saying they were going to sue the airline and sue the baggage agent

the police then escorted them out of the airport and after the police left they came back in and started this whole routine again

the police were then called a second time to escort this so called "christian boy just trying to do some good" out of the airport again

i was glad to hear that on the day the dog was trying to leave that the airline had decided to ban the dog and his entourage from flying their airline do to the way that they had treated their staff

to end this post i would like to steal a line from the dog and to tell him

YOU ARE A DAD ACT LIKE IT

thank you from a former dog fan

WHAT?

This was a private coversation sold to a sleazy rag. What little I listened to seemed to be saying that "Dog" doesn't have a problem with black people only that they use the "N" word in conversations and did not want the girl offended. Maybe not? I think the whole thing is blown out of proportion and context and Dr. Phil is aiding a few "Black People", "Afro-American", "People of Color", or whatever the term is today to feel pity for themselves.

Racism is not a Black problem!

I am so sick of whites asking black folk "what do I do to fight racism?"  Come on people.  Whites created race and racism.  They are the racists in society. Racism is race predjedice plus power! Blacks don't have the power to be racist.

Since whites created it, it's whites who have to end it. They have to correct all the wrongs that have been done in the name of racism. Most whites don't even think it's a problem.  I am white and I am married to a black man. I see on a daily basis the racism he has to deal with. It's endless!!!!  When I confront whites about their racist behavior, they say they aren't racist. Take a look at where whites live, work, the friends they have, the lovers they have, etc. White, white, white.  They don't want to be around Blacks.  We have white flight going on in our neighborhood right now. It's happening every where!!

Whites need to get over themselves and get honest. The majority of whites are racist. Polls say it, studies say it, the census says it!  You benefit from white privilege every day and to say you don't means you're lying!  Get out there and correct this!

dog the bounty hunter

I agree what he said was wrong. But what his son Tucker did was illegal. recording a conversation without the other parties knowledge is illegal. if dog loses his show than so should all the comics and muscians who use that word should also lose there commercial revenue. If you are a comic you should be banned from all Television and Cable. and muscians should be kicked off their labels. the word can be used by all or none. The word is the same no matter who uses it.

How is this fair!!

I have watched this show and am not happy one bit! I am mixed white, black, indian, a little bit of everything.  I listen to all types of music, Rap, R&B, Country, Rock, Pop, ect.  I watch all different stereo typical shows, black, white, gay, straight, ect.  I am infuriated at what went on today on the Dr. Phil show.  To say that Dog was using the "N" word as a racial slur, and being taking off the air, thats BULL SH*T!!!  A lot of people say that word!  I have taken sections from various songs and shows to prove it.  To make it worse I am gettin these quotes from shows starring people of the "African American" nationality!  Why is it okay for some to say that word but not others? Not to mention that there is BET - BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION! They are constantly sayin the "N" word!  Shows and music today is outrageous.  To say that it's okay to say the "N" word if you are black, but if you're not don't you dare say it.  I can not keep track of those artists who say that word in their music, but its okay because they are black.  It is so common I am overwhelmed when tryin to find the quotes I want to put them all up, but that is just too much!

Master P Bout Dat.............Bounce wit me, bounce wit me, bounce
When my real niggas come; flip a ounce wit me, ounce wit me
Bounce wit me, bounce wit me.. c'mon bounce
When my real niggas come; flip a ounce wit me, ounce wit me

With him saying this even though its one an album with a parental advisory on it does that make it right?  Or is it because he is black that it makes it right?

Dog made a mistake

Dog used an inappropriate word in a private conversation with his son. He has apologized. So why is Dr. Phil taking him to task when he could be picking on the famous figures who truly are trash? Britney and Paris come immediately to mind. Instead Dr. Phil assembles a panel of Black Americans who would like to thump Dog on the head. I mean, for the love of God, why did he pick Al Sharpton? Where is the panel of non-racist white people who want to kick the Chapmans in the butt? I am really disappointed in Dr. Phil for sensationalising this particular occurrence.

Dog Chapman does good. Yes, he uses bad language during the "shock and awe" portion of his captures. He's got to get their attention, and put a little fear in them in order to capture them. But then he always shows his tender side and tries to reach out and uplift the criminals he catches. He's not exactly trying to catch 9 year old girls in pink tutus. His method works with the type of person he's chasing. Ya think those criminals are saying, "Gosh, golly gee, darn, where are those pesky bounty hunters?"

DOG IS BEING SCREWED!!! LEAVE HIM ALONE

I watched the first half of Dr Phil's show and they had Master P's lyrics to one of his songs and it had the f-word and the n-word and Master P said he apologized about it and everyone excepted his apology. Dog used the n- word and apologized and nobody will accept it.  Dog had a private conversation with his son he should not be fired from his show!
