From a celebrity’s controversial meltdown caught on tape to nooses cropping up around the country, Dr. Phil and Bishop T.D. Jakes tackle tough racial issues. First up, Dog the Bounty Hunter spewed slurs in a phone conversation with his son, Tucker, and used the N-word repeatedly when referring to Tucker’s black girlfriend, Monique. Monique’s mother, Linda Shinnery, joins the Dr. Phil show via satellite and says she was appalled by Dog’s tirade. Should the reality TV star lose his job over a private conversation? Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, rapper Master P, and BET correspondent Jeff Johnson weigh in. Then, nooses, a symbol of hatred for African-Americans, are cropping up more and more across the country – from Jena, Louisiana to Columbia University in New York. Najee Ali, founder and co-director of Project Islamic Hope, shares his views on empowering the black community and combating stereotypes. Don’t miss this intense debate about racism and sensitivity in America, and find out how you can educate your children. Join the discussion.

Enough is Enough!!!

Quote From: babywinnie

listening to dog on larry king, it seems he's more concerned about his show than anything, trying to get votes to keep him on tv. to find out he had never seen his son's girlfriend or even met her and was acting like that in the telephone call, i find it hard to believe he's not prejudice. i feel the words don't come out of your mouth unless you're used to using them. everytime i start to like someone on tv, i find out they're all fake and i believe dog is, too. his livlihood is not in jeopardy, he can still hunt the criminals, we just don't have to watch him and his fake praying.

If Dog doesn't want his son to date a black woman, THIS IS HIS RIGHT!!!  I thought we lived in America where we can have our own ideas.  What he said to his son in a PRIVATE conversation should have been kept private.  How about shame on the network stations and journalists in general for publishing that stuff.  I am so tired of hearing about how the blacks are so offended and tired of hearing THAT word but they use it toward each other frequently and say it was meant in other context.  I live in an area where it's ok for a college and a town to have a "Miss Black Cameron"  and a "Miss Black Lawton".  Now if we were to try and have a "Miss White" anything, how many people do you think would get in an uproar?  I'm tired of them thinking I owe them or the Native Americans anything!  I didn't own slaves or take away anyones land.  I am not liable for something many generations ago did nor are those people entitled to special treatment because of what happened to people many generations ago.  We live in America people!  We can get publicly humiliated for how we think and feel and speak BUT the national news can spout anything they want and claim FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: taylorsmommy07

Ok Dr. Phil just commented about teens who have a child early. I had my daughter when i was 17 and IM NOT living off warefal, i DO NOT have children strapped on each hip, and I DO NOT live in a trailor park. Im doing jus fine i live in a NICE house (not with my mom) and Im going to college so im doing pretty well. Im so dissapointed in you dr. phil.
i agree with you, i had my daughter when i was 16. I do not recieve any assistance from the state, and i don't like with my mother either, i'm married to a wonderful man, and i recently had my 2nd child by him, at the age of 19, i'm going to school, and doing JUST FINE. Not everyone who has children at an early age are like that. just a few. I love my children and would not change anything about my life.

The problem is

Quote From: fuzzy3599

Well I personally think that is sick that children close to my daughters age is taking birth control. Where are the parents? Do they actually care and know what there kids are doing at such a young tender age? Giving kida that age birth control is taking there youth away. Parents who allow this should actually watch thier kids. They also need to be part of there lives and do good things with them instead of letting schools or doing it them selves give kids so young birth control. That is just wrong. supervise Your kids better so we can protect them better. it makes me sick to know babies that young losing there youth cuz they made a baby and now have to take care of it.  BABIES MAKING BABIES IS WRONG DON'T TEACH THEM TO BE LIKE THAT. TEACH THEM MARLES AND VALUES AND WE WONT HAVE THIS PROBLEM .
That most parents don't watch or even talk to their kids. That is why 11 year olds are getting pregnant. It is wrong and it is a shame that their youth is being taken away. Kids that age that are doing stuff like that are most likely not feeling loved and accepted at home. I am so sick of parents not being there for their kids. On the news in Tulsa Ok, a 3 year old was found walking the streets at night naked and bleeding all because her parents weren't watching her when she outside playing in her yard on her playground set. What parent leavers their 3 year old outside alone playing on a playground set of all things. Anything could have happened besides what did. She could have fallen off the swing or something. That just makes me sick to think about that little girl and that it could have been prevented if the parents were watching their kid. I am also sick of parents leaving it up to the schools and teachers to raise their kids. That is why they are handing out birth control. I do believe that the school shouild contact parents asking them if it is ok to give it to them. Anyway it all comes down to that if parents watched and taught their kids there would not be a problem.

You need to see the bigger picture

Like EVERYONE, Dr. Phil is talking about the NORM. Just because you are an exception doesn't make him wrong.

He goes by the FACTS...the statistics concerning teens having babies young and out of wedlock. The FACTS are that most will drop out of school, never go to college, never get out of poverty and their children will be in the very same sinking ship.

Congrats for being an EXCEPTION. Be thankful to your mom and to us tax-payers for helping you to live (your child DOES get assistance), go to school, raise your child, etc.

Sadly, more young girls and their children are not so fortunate. You shouldn't be disappointed in Dr. Phil for speaking HONESTLY about the usual problems that come with having babies young and out of wedlock. A

nd what you leave out is the part about the father lacking in your child's life. Trust me, that WILL impact your child and his/her status in life.

ABOUT DOG

While I find the comments Dog made were offensive I fine there is a bigger issue here.  This was a private conversation between a father and a son that the public should have never heard. This young man handled the situation by selling this personal conversation to the biggest trash paper put out. I think the young lady should run as fast as she can from this  man.  I may not agree with everthing my parents stand for but I would never sell them out.  He may be thinking he is defending her but he is not.  I would always wonder what he would do the first time he got mad a me.  This family has a lot of issues.

Do Not Agee With Dr.Phils Guests

What Dog said was spoken privately between a father and son.  This is none of our business.  What he said was that he used the N word but didn't use it to mean anything nasty about it.  He was using it as a slang. He specifically said that he didn't want anyone to think he felt that way.  I think the son is a horrible person to have done this to his father and I think that Dr.Phil is reaching on today's show.

REV SHARPTON/DOG

I was really disappointed in Dr Phil when I saw the Rev Al Sharpton on today's show.  It seems anytime something is said regarding Blacks - there he is - He is the biggest racist I have ever seen and I don't have any respect for the man.  I think he is keeping racism alive, just to keep himself in the spotlight.

It was nice to see the Rapper admit to being wrong and clean up his act - The response from the audience - clapping and cheers was encouraging.  Was this just because he's Black??  Where is the forgiveness for Dog - who also apologized for his indiscretion ?? Fact is that all of us 40 + , White people were brought up with prejudice - Yes it is taking a long time to readjust  - but we lived with it for a long time.   When we agree to stop  using the N word and live by the Golden Rule - it should not be taken lightly - It is a big step in the right direction.  Seems the Rev is always there when someone (White) tries to take this step, just to knock them down and ruin their lives in one way or another.  Why do we give him that power?  The more he cries Racism the longer it will take to erradicate it.  Of course he isn't the only one to blame - the Black Rappers are certainly doing their share.  They use the N word more than anyone.  Make up your minds - either you hate it or you don't.

I don't think what Dog said was anyones business.  He was involved in a private conversation with his son, who should have known better than to make it public.  Our society reinforces bad behavior.  Dog's Son got the publicity he wanted by betrayal and the public is all over it.  The kid should have gotten a smack in the face and told not to air his dirty laundry in the streets.

I also think that what Dog said was misconstrued.  He merely stated that the N word was used frequently in his house.  He also stated that it didn't have the meaning that we are all accustomed to.  I understand why he didn't appear on the show today - It would have been like volunteering for your own lynching.  How many times will he have to apologize before it is accepted?  He has overcome many issues in his life and he has shared them all in the hopes of educating people and preventing them from going down the wrong road.  I think his show has a positive effect on the younger generation and that is not an easy feat in today's society.

I really hope the network decides to put his show back on - I know that I for one will boycott  the A&E Channel if they don't.

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: lorraine2491

A&E must be running scared. What a bunch of whimps.. This was a PRIVATE conversation, and Dog's son should be horse whipped, as my grandfather would say. He should hope his Dad can forgive this uncalled for betrayal. I cannot imagine doing something like this to one of my parents, regardless of what they said, or what I believed about what they said. In fact, I would love to have my parents back on this earth every day. This is ridiculous, and I am not happy that Dr. Phil made the remark about Dog dodging coming on the show, however it was worded. It really was uncalled for.
Whatever is going on between the DOG and his Son,is their business and should have remained so.
Even after Tucker sold the copy.it should never have been used without first talking with Dog and giving the Son a chance to explain why he taped the conversation in the first place.BTW,how old is Tucker? There might have been a legal infraction when the tape was purchased or even offered.

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: pauladiane

Dog should get his show back..I think his son is a coward and WRONG for taping his PRVATE conversation  between him and his father and He (tucker) should not have sold the Private taping to the enquire.. Use of the "n"word is horrible ...but if the black community wants everyone else to stop sayig it then  they themselves need to quit saying the N word.  How come when a white person says the N word it considered"offensive" but when a black person says it its not considered offensive.  It's a freakin double standard.   I think also rev al sharpton is one of thebiggesst racist I have ever seen.

My thoughts too
