From a celebrity’s controversial meltdown caught on tape to nooses cropping up around the country, Dr. Phil and Bishop T.D. Jakes tackle tough racial issues. First up, Dog the Bounty Hunter spewed slurs in a phone conversation with his son, Tucker, and used the N-word repeatedly when referring to Tucker’s black girlfriend, Monique. Monique’s mother, Linda Shinnery, joins the Dr. Phil show via satellite and says she was appalled by Dog’s tirade. Should the reality TV star lose his job over a private conversation? Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, rapper Master P, and BET correspondent Jeff Johnson weigh in. Then, nooses, a symbol of hatred for African-Americans, are cropping up more and more across the country – from Jena, Louisiana to Columbia University in New York. Najee Ali, founder and co-director of Project Islamic Hope, shares his views on empowering the black community and combating stereotypes. Don’t miss this intense debate about racism and sensitivity in America, and find out how you can educate your children. Join the discussion.

Dog the Bounty Hunter

Using the N word is never ok, using any derrogatory term referring to anyone is unacceptable. I don't think he is a rascist, I think he needs to be educated and I think he has to clean up his vocabulary. It is a little strange that nothing is being said about how you can be talking on the telephone in what you think is a private conversation, and to have it sold to a newspaper. He was on the telephone with his son ( a son who is just out of prison), not up on stage entertaing an audience like  the guy from seinfeld who went bersek. Who hasn't at one time or another hasn't said something improper or that they might regret that they would not want repeated in a private conversation. I think people need to get off this. Shame on the son that would do that to a father

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Why does Dog have to appear on Dr.Phil to "prove" he is sorry?   Dr.Phil seems to have the attitude that if Dog was REALLY sorry, then he would have appeared on the show and answered the questions of his panel of African American leaders.  Why does he have to do what Phil thinks he should do?  Why does he have to answer questions of anyone?  Seems to me that Phil's ego is getting in the way here and he is passing judgement on the man without giving him the benefit of the doubt to continue to work on himself as he said he would....on the Larry King Show.

They call it REVERSED discrimination

I can't believe today's show about racism...why was the panel speaking out about it all black?  And Al Sharpton of all people?...It is amazing how hard everyone is coming down on people like Imus, Kramer, Mel Gibson and most recently the WONDERFUL DOG!....People have you all lost yours minds and forgot how Al Sharpton stripped away the dignity of the WHITE police officers with the whole Tawana Brawley fiasco?....White people are regularly the recipients of much hate and racism on a daily basis....white people have to continuously hear over and over again about how racist white people are but it a rare day when the truth comes out about all the offensive comments and situations that white people have to endure like when I have to sit through a movie and hear several offensive comments about white people like "Daddy's Little Girls"....though they were suttle and small comments I think if they were said in the reverse about blacks all hell would break loose.....As a white person I am tired of walking to my office and having to hear and try to ignore the degrading put-downs spewing from the mouths of black Islamic street preachers in NY....I cannot tell you how many times I have heard them screaming how the white man is responsible for their failure....All in all...it is a two way street....blacks do just as much racist things as whites.....the only difference is that blacks seem to think that America owes them something and the whites should bow down...

Good for you

Quote From: melkar

If Dog doesn't want his son to date a black woman, THIS IS HIS RIGHT!!!  I thought we lived in America where we can have our own ideas.  What he said to his son in a PRIVATE conversation should have been kept private.  How about shame on the network stations and journalists in general for publishing that stuff.  I am so tired of hearing about how the blacks are so offended and tired of hearing THAT word but they use it toward each other frequently and say it was meant in other context.  I live in an area where it's ok for a college and a town to have a "Miss Black Cameron"  and a "Miss Black Lawton".  Now if we were to try and have a "Miss White" anything, how many people do you think would get in an uproar?  I'm tired of them thinking I owe them or the Native Americans anything!  I didn't own slaves or take away anyones land.  I am not liable for something many generations ago did nor are those people entitled to special treatment because of what happened to people many generations ago.  We live in America people!  We can get publicly humiliated for how we think and feel and speak BUT the national news can spout anything they want and claim FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!

IT IS SO GLAD TO SEE IAM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES HOW IT IS ALWAYS A BLACK THING, IF IT EVER GOT DROPPED IT WOULDNT BE HERE!!

differances?

EVERYONE is deifferant. And it isnt fair that dog is suspended from A&E for having a private conversation! I am not racist at all, but it isnt fair that other blacks can call eachother the "N" word but for a white person to say it in a private conversation is no ones buisness. African American people say stuff about white people that shouldnt be said, but they still say it. Are you going to punish all the poeple in this world that use that word? I dont think for one second that dog should be suspended, it was a private conversation that got taken way out of hand, i beleive that everyone makes mistakes and he doesnt need to be punished for having a "private" conversation, it is no ones buisness except his and whoever was on the other side of the phone!!!!! he has a wonderful show that i enjoy watching, he did not say it on air in front of millions of people so, he shouldnt be punished. I think if more people minded there own buisness instead of judging other poeple this world would be a hell of alot better.

Just my opinion

This is just my opinion as a monority. In this day and age of technology, we seem to disregard privacy. For a family member to sell a copy of a conversation that was private is more appalling than what Dog had to say. The N word will never go away. Neither will the other derogatory terms to other nationalities. South Park regulary gets away with using such terms to describe jewish people as well as other races. They are not censured.
Also, there is not a single person in this world who has not had a conversation with family that would not be spoken in public. When will the news media stop and think twice about what thier part is. It's funny that we are mad at Dog, but how about the media that bought the tapes and decided to release it. They are making a public matter out of a private one. If the son was offended then he should have dealt with it in private, just as the conversation was......PRIVATE.

When Will Black Racism Against Whites....

..be examined by Dr. Phil? It is amazing how racist blacks are and they are NEVER called on it. They call whites all sorts of names including, but not limited to Cracker and Honkey. At the University of Delaware it is being taught that ALL whites are racist just by virtue of their skin color and there has been an ongoing program in the University to indoctrinate students into this belief. The truth of the matter is that blacks are far more racist against whites. Whites have been so politically corrected to the point that they are afraid to speak. Blacks have not been the target of political correctness so they say what they please when they want and what they say is as derogatory or worse than what whites say often times.

In reference to Dog, Dog was in his home in a private phone conversation. His privacy was invaded by his son and, I believe, his son broke the law by taping the conversation and making it public. I would like to know what has happened to the right of free speech in our own homes. This reminds me of what went in in Nazi Germany when children were recruited to turn in their parents for the views that they expressed in the privacy of their own homes. Luckily, so far. Dog hasn't been dragged out of his house and taken to a concentration camp. But, I have to ask, how long will it be before a parent becomes afraid to speak their mind in their own home? What has happened to Americans right to free speech? I don't care what a person says in the pprivacy of their own home, they have the right to say it. The constitution is supposed to guarantee people the right to say what they want in their home. Hell, the constitution guarantees the right of free speech outside the home, but it has been so infringed on by political correctness for one portion of society that it has come to the point that that part of society is angry, frustrated and yelling, "Hey, what about them? Why do they get to do the same thing and not be called on the carpet?"

Fianlly, justice would dictate that Dog should not lose his job for what he said in the privacy of his home in a private conversation. It is a slippery slope. You take a job now, what will be next? Really, how long will it be before that becomes internment into a concentration camp?

dog the bounty hunter

i am angry that they could take a man's private conversation to his son and turn it into a racial

battle.

i feel dog should not be fired and his conversation to his son and how he feels and what he has to say

about any matter is his buiness.

i have respect for dog and i feel he has not did anything or said anything the black people don't say theirself.

they write and sing songs with those words  and i've personally have heard black people call each other that exact word and they feel it's o.k.

i feel angry that people can't express their thoughts and opinion and have a private conversation on the phone .

i feel if dog the bounty hunter get's fired on his on time and speaking to his son in his on private time

is not right and we the people are all guilty.

thank you edith west

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Does anyone else find it offensive when Dr. Phil refers to poor people living on welfare living in a trailer house etc.? I find it very offensive. My husband and I do live in a mobile home and we are both very hard workers. We have never been on welfare and just had our first child at age 22 and 24. My husband works 60+ hours a week except for Holidays and he works 75 hours a week at that time. I really enjoy most of Dr. Phils shows but I am just about fed up with the way he stereotypes people that are poor. Yes my husband and I can only afford a mobile home but we are not on welfare, not just popping kids out one after the other-We are both educated, taxpaying individuals and should not be put into that category just beause we live in a mobile home.

Racism

Hello Dr. Phil. I was watching the show and the lady lawyer she made a comment about different groups that are targets with racism and i believe she forgot one. White people are targets as well. I am a white woman married to a black man with a child. One day i was watching Oprah and this one lady whom was black stood up and mad the comment that all the good black men are being taken by the white women. To me that is a racist comment. Wht doe sit have to be about color. Why can it not be about who one person loves. Why does it have to be about color? When I married my husband I did not marry him because he is black I married him because we love each other and want to spend the rest of our lives together. Yes there is a large amount of racism in the United States but it is among ALL groups of people. Thanks
