From a celebrity’s controversial meltdown caught on tape to nooses cropping up around the country, Dr. Phil and Bishop T.D. Jakes tackle tough racial issues. First up, Dog the Bounty Hunter spewed slurs in a phone conversation with his son, Tucker, and used the N-word repeatedly when referring to Tucker’s black girlfriend, Monique. Monique’s mother, Linda Shinnery, joins the Dr. Phil show via satellite and says she was appalled by Dog’s tirade. Should the reality TV star lose his job over a private conversation? Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, rapper Master P, and BET correspondent Jeff Johnson weigh in. Then, nooses, a symbol of hatred for African-Americans, are cropping up more and more across the country – from Jena, Louisiana to Columbia University in New York. Najee Ali, founder and co-director of Project Islamic Hope, shares his views on empowering the black community and combating stereotypes. Don’t miss this intense debate about racism and sensitivity in America, and find out how you can educate your children. Join the discussion.

Not caught on tape - but secretly taped on tape!

The American people and society in general REALLY need to find something to do with their time. I mean come on here. IF the Television business didnt produce this so called 'phone conversation' and release it to the public, no one would know about it, not only that but Ill guarntee that if we secretly recorded 8-9 out of 10 peoples conversations on 'touchy subjects' Im sure the N word or other so called 'slander' would be used by all of us and Im sure most if not all of us has said words like that anyways and if they say they have not, they're lying.

Gimmy a break here, DOG Chapman has done nothing wrong, he was secretly taped. No one knows his frame of mind, the type of day he's had, the situation previous or adding up the secretly recorded conversation. Was it said in the heat of the moment? Was it said under some other regard? We the public don't know the details of the situation, all we know is that, that one PARTICULAR phone conversation was 'secretly recorded' and the gutless business that offered him money for it, is worse then anything DOG has done. SO why dont we attack the company that paid the kid to give up the secretly recorded phone call.

Im sure if we as a society, secretly recorded everyones phone calls, we would realize this isnt a hidden issue but rather a BIG problem in society. If anything the tabloids and media are the cowards for throwing money for something like this. If nothing was recorded or sold for money, not a damn thing would of been done PEROID. BUT for the simple fact that this was made public, over night this dedicated person who puts drug dealers, drug addicts, serious offenders in general in JAIL every damn day! WHY IS THAT NEVER EVER MENTIONED ABOUT DOG? WHY DONT WE EVER EVEN MENTION HIS CHARACTER AS A PERSON WHO CLEANS THE STREETS OF AMERICAN OR WHO PROTECTS THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY! Dr. Phil doesn't even recognize the things DOG has done for his country, but just 1 single phone call......

See the problem is that most of the people is society are SHEEP! If one jumps off a ledge the rest will follow. No one is willing to stand up for what they truely believe but rather do what the majority or what Dr. Phil says....

I dont care what some media show says or even what some reverant on the Dr. Phil show says, DOG is a good man who cleans the streets up, who makes life better for families which cant get the help they need. He even helps the drug addicts, law brakers who are at fault....The guy has been on TV shows to explain himself. He was just on TV a couple days ago explaining the complete situation, so just because he does not come on Dr. Phils show, hes not a bad guy at all, but rather the people who talk about him when hes not here to defend himself, well that speaks for itself....

Dog the Bounty Hunter

This story has been blow so far out of context.   This was a private telephone call between a father and a son, that should not have been recorded, without his permission.  Why are we not getting angry about the privacy act.  What he had to say was not right but it was not hateful.  I am a woman married to a man of color, he thinks this is so ridiculous.  This is not a black and white issue it is a family issue with a man that was speaking to his son.  This telephone call should not have been sent to the media and the son of Dog should be terrible embarrassed that he has destroyed his father in this way.  Dog made a mistake to trust his son with his opinion and to feel comfortable enough to speak frankly with his son.  No one is perfect and all people of this world should rember this.  Racism is a terrible, but this is not a black and white issue.

NOT FAIR!!!

I think it is amazing that the rap singer Master P,  gets a second chance to continue in his career  after committing to never saying or using the N word in his music, yet, NOT willing to give the same forgiveness to DOG, he said he was sorry, where is his second chance? I agree  with the other gentleman it was taken in his own private conversation. and should not be used against him. You are shocked???? that he did not appear on the show?? It would have been a modern day lynching with a full cast of Black Rights guest .We all have said and done things in our lives a sin is a sin is a sin, move on and learn, let people learn.

Amen

I am so happy to hear about "parents" are the beginning not the end for children.  I would love to be on the show with my three grown children just to let the world know how important it is to "put your children first."

Dr. Phil and Bishop Jakes are so right when they say it all begins at home.  I was a single parent of three and I let the schools know up front that they are not to "hit" my child.  If there is a problem the school is to contact me first and I would solve any problem.  I took full responsibility for the behavior and attitudes of my children.  In other words, the school is not to do anything without my knowledge.

Sociiety says parents are not doing their job when it comes to children having sex.  Excuse me, it is society who "put sexual ideas" in the minds of children before "parents" are ready to discuss it.  After all parents should know when "their" child is ready.  Besides,  it is against the law to have sex with under age children.

My oldest daughter had a situation with another boy harming her son and she wanted to go to the school and complain.  I told my daughter to go to the other boy's parents not the school.  The parents can and should correct the problem, not the school.

It is not much different now as when I was raising my children.  We just did not have as much "stuff" as others.  I always told my children when they wanted somethng I could not afford or they did not "need" and that was, "There are children who would love to have what they have and I could give it to those who would appreciate it."  I also took my children with me when I delivered "Meals on Wheels" and they saw how the rich and poor lived  This also included experiencing "care for your fellow man no matter the color of their skin or where they lived"  I worked for "Meals on Wheels" so my children helped out alot.

Well, with everyone pulling together at home it would help our society as a whole.

Thank you and God bless

maine and birth control pills

Quote From: rt2kersey

Your thoughts are on the right track but what about when they DO have sex?  I agree with all your thoughts on what to do to slow it down but what about those that DO have sex?  There always has been teenagers having sex, long before the bc pill.  They just got shipped off to give it up, or to abortion clinics by their parents who insisted they not have sex and they did it anyway.  What do you suggest we do to prevent the persons who DO and WILL engage in sex from getting pregnant?
I think it is just plain silly that people think that just because parents SHOULD be educating their children in their homes that they actually ARE.  It is apparant from what is going on in Maine, that someone has to educate them.  I do have a child and I take the time to teach him.  A lot of children have a good day to just get food on the table, let alone a conversation with their parents.  So, who would be better to teach these kids?  Their friends, maybe just strangers off the street, or maybe the people from the school.  Where they may be getting the only one on one attention they get for the day.  The only form of care they get during the day.  These teachers and school nurses may be the only people who are willing to give them a little attention and care outside of their buddies.  Someone has to teach them.  These teachers are battling against what the kids friends are telling them.  Peer pressure.... everyone has sex, everyone does drugs, everyone drinks?  Anyone remember being a kid? There is no way anyone is gonna stop a teenage kid from doing something they want to do ...  They are only trying to keep them safer.  The options seem to be  watch kids go out and have sex  and get pregnant or  teach them about  safer sex and encourage proper use of the meds (that the parents have to give the school permission to hand out---by the way!!)  and those same kids may have sex but may not get pregnant.  We may have less kids out raising kids.
Just my opinion..

Just because people like Bishop T.D. Jakes is on the Dr.Phil show doesn't mean he's right is everything he says and because DOG isnt on the show does not make him a bad person....

shame on you dr phil

I find myself for the very first time going thru the motions to sign on to a site to voice my opinion.  I am disappointed in Dr Phil for approaching this show in the manner he did.  I feel by having the guest he had on today the "deck was stacked".  Who can blame "Dog" for not wanting to appear on stage.  Talk about a lynching!!!.   I do not  consider myself a racist.  I feel strongly that the things we say in the privacy of our home should be OFF LIMITS.  Shame on his son for turning on his family like that.   This man "Dog" seems to me to be a considerate human being with compassion and understanding for all persons regardless of their race, position in life, and circumstance.  I've seen him hold out a helping hand for what some people would never even return a glance to.   He does not carry a gun, which in itself presents a new look on the fight against the criminal element..   My heart is breaking for Mr. Dog and all of his family.  I am certain that he is devastated over the way his private conversation is being interpreted at everyone's personal idea of what is right and/or wrong.  Give him a break Dr Phil.  You have really surprised me and for the first time I am very angry with you.

Rethink

I watch Dog the Bounty Hunter and I believe in what he is trying to do. Could you do it? There is drugs and violence everywhere. I get sick when I see another shooting. I watch those A&E shows. I watch Dr, Phil too, too calm down.  Anyway, Dog doesn't need to be fired,m he does a lot. he needs to apologizes.

Lets look at our government and start nick picking that ball of wax.! Leave Dog alone.

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: lorilynne63

I watched the show today and 1st tell me who's business is it of ANYONE'S about what Dog talked to his son about but DOG.  I believe that his son purposely taped the converstation to make $$$$$, and for some unknown reason discredit his father.  You have to remember this man was in prison for a murder HE DID NOT commit, so he would have been around colored people.  I do not believe one bit that this is any of our business as it was a private call, not one made nationally like Don Imus did.  And Dr. Phil where were the whites today on your stage?????  Not 1 was there.  Why?  Answer me that!!!!.  If your going to brow beat us whites maybe you shoud have found one to defend OUR race.  Not all white people are racists, ok.  DOG is still #1 in my books.  He's doing wonders for getting  drug off the streets.  Remembet that.
i agree 110%!!!!!
