From a celebrity’s controversial meltdown caught on tape to nooses cropping up around the country, Dr. Phil and Bishop T.D. Jakes tackle tough racial issues. First up, Dog the Bounty Hunter spewed slurs in a phone conversation with his son, Tucker, and used the N-word repeatedly when referring to Tucker’s black girlfriend, Monique. Monique’s mother, Linda Shinnery, joins the Dr. Phil show via satellite and says she was appalled by Dog’s tirade. Should the reality TV star lose his job over a private conversation? Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, rapper Master P, and BET correspondent Jeff Johnson weigh in. Then, nooses, a symbol of hatred for African-Americans, are cropping up more and more across the country – from Jena, Louisiana to Columbia University in New York. Najee Ali, founder and co-director of Project Islamic Hope, shares his views on empowering the black community and combating stereotypes. Don’t miss this intense debate about racism and sensitivity in America, and find out how you can educate your children. Join the discussion.

Prayer

Quote From: daliany

The entire question of bringing prayer back into the schools has bothered me for a while. Exactly which prayer would you suggest be said in a public school? Since you didn't qualify it, is it safe to assume that a Jewish prayer is ok with you? Or a Muslim prayer? How about a Baha'i prayer? My guess is that you mean you want Christian prayer in public schools. I live in Washington DC which has a wide variety of faiths. I'm not sure how you achieve prayer in school without offending someone. Besides, as long as there are math tests, there will be prayer in school, or to be in line with todays topic, as long as there are 14 year olds having sex in any room that isn't locked, there will be prayer as well.
How bout a few moments of silence.  If they want to pray they can.  If they don't want God in schools  and government why do they get all the religious holidays off.  Remember the division of church and state.

Dog

Dog had a private conversation with his son that should never have been aired on National TV.  Truly he spoke some harsh and unneccessary words but they should have remained private.  Imus spoke out his offensive words on his TV show and is now back on there.  Dog should not lose his show but defenitely should apologize for such terrible words.  I feel that you (as much as I love you) are not helping racial tension by airing such things on your show.  They do nothing but further racial tension.

THE DOG

Quote From: moodymitzy

This isfor those of you don't blame Dog for not going on the show. In a way I understand why he didn't but onthe other hand it would have given him a way to explain himself. I am not saying that he should. Yes it was a private conversation. We all say things we don't really mean when we talking with family and friends. The problem is that everyone has taken it way too seriously and it has gotten out of hand. Maybe if he did talk about it and get people to see things from his point of view then at least he could say that he tried to make things right again.

Honestly I think blacks should really back off white people. They want to claim that everyone is racist but it is them who are. Not every white person is racist. Many of the so-called racist are like me and don't hate them because they are black but we hate trasy people whites included. Also I do not think that anyone should use the N word for any reason. White or black they should all stop. Me included. I have used the word myself at times to describe the trashy ones. I do try not to. What I say most of the time is trash. For those of you who want to say stuff about slavery. Well really the Muslims started the slave trade not white people. Also it was the Africans who sold their own people into slavery. The Europeans did not go there and just started taking people.

Another thing, If you are black and have your pants down to your knees expect to be called the N word

If you misuse the word is, expect to be callted the N word.

If you have 5 kids and don't who the father is to any of them, expect to be called the N word.

If you work at a fast food place and you greet the customer by saying 'what is you want' expect to be called the N word.

If you are a black man who tries to sleep with anything female, expect to be called the N word.

If you are a Mexican man and try to sleep with anything female or even just stare at them like you are undressing them with your eyes, expect to be called a wetback.

And so on.

Now about the birth control to young kids. If parents watched their kids, talked about sex to their kids, and thier children felt loved and acepted at home their wouldn't be any 11 year olds getting pregnant. I do believe that the schools should get the parents permission first.

OK THIS HAS GONE WAY TO FAR. WHERE IS DOG'S FREEDOM OF SPEECH? HE DID NOT CALL HIS SON'S GIRL FRIEND A N*****. HE SAID THAT THEY USE THAT WORD ALOT. SO ALL OF BLACK AMERICA CALLS HIM A RACIST. BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE WORST RACIST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET. NOT ALL OF THEM MIND YOU, THE OLDER FOLKS ARE VERY NICE, BUT THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF THIS RACE ARE AS RUDE AS CAN BE.  I LIVE IN THE SOUTH NOW FOR 2 YEARS. I CAN NOW UNSERSTAND WHY THE N WORD IS USED. THE BEHAVIOR AND THE ATTITUDES OF THESE YOUNG BLACK PEOPLE IS WHY. THEY THINK THE WORLD OWES THEM. AL SHARPTON YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE AND WHO MADE YOU SO DAMN PERFECT.  AND IT'S OK FOR BLACKS TO CALL EACH OTHER THE N WORD???

Give Dog A Break

Give poor old Dog a break here.  OK, I know the "N" word isn't cool, but it was a private conversation, and we all...........and I do mean ALL of us have said things in private  that we would not want anyone else to here.  I personally have said worse, and I am not ashamed to admitt it.  I am, after all, just a human being who gets frustrated and angry and have said things that others would not approve of.  That his own son recorded this conversation and sold it to the tabloids is what is disturbing to me.

I know Dr. Phil is politically correct as far as using these words, but who hasn't done worse?  Using the Lord's name in vain is much worse, but no one is having a fit over the millions of times a day we all do that.  I don't think Duane Chapman should have his show pulled for what he said to his son in private.  The guy is a little rough around the edges but that is why I like him.  I think he has a good heart, and I think he has every right to object to his son's choice of girlfriend.  It is just a shame we all had to hear it, because frankly, it was none of our business

11 year olds responsible enough to TAKE the pill?

Come on.... 11 year olds don't remember to brush their teeth without help. Does anyone really think they'll remember to take the pill consistently? How about a comeback of two parent families who monitor their children's behavior? Not knocking the single parents who tried and it didn't work.... We just have an epidemic of irresponsible sexual behavior going on.

I have found this to be true as well.

Quote From: rt2kersey

All persons stereotype by nature.  Just like all persons feel more comfortable in their in-group of like peoples, whatever that may be, unless making a conscience effort to expand their knowledge of others.  All persons have the power to be racist, prejudice and descriminate against persons of different in-groups.  You are correct that in America specifically the Euro-Americans have held rule but that in no way means that African-Americans can not be racist or any other group for that matter.  Maybe you are confusing the definition of racism?  Have you ever thought or made comments about, let's say, Mexican Americans, White Trash, Chinese?  There are people in each diversity that hate people from another diversity.  Racism has nothing to do with power.  Actually racism is due to a lack of power, or more exactly, understandings of people who are different than yourself.

Anytime one asks why, why does hate exist?  The answer is simple.  Without hate, we would not understand love.  Ask why then look around.  Cats hate cats that aren’t apart of their pride.  Dogs hate dogs that aren’t apart of their pack.  Just let a stranger bee try and enter an established hive.

It’s not that hard to comprehend.  Now, what should we do about it.  If you happen to find yourself the odd one out, simply take a neutral stance, interact in a non-confrontational manner and don’t make waves.  Once people understand that you are not a threat, you are in and free to be yourself.

Racial? I think NOT

I think even DR. PHIL missed the "boat" today.  I usually agree with him or at least can see his point and respect his opinion but by having this aired today regarding "DOG" .. in my opinion, actually promotes racisim, gets blacks and whites both all stirred up over something that was SAID IN PRIVATE .. and should have been kept IN PRIVATE.  In my opinion, DR PHIL AND THE ENQUIRER are both WRONG for what they did .. and quite frankly, I think DOG did the right thing by NOT appearing on the show.  NOTHING good would have come out of it.  This was a conversation "taped" unknowly" by his son and I do believe that is also illegal.  It certainly was wrong of his son to have taped it and then selling it; DOG was having a personal conversation and it should have stayed personal.  I can't believe that everyone who was on the show, in that audience and those by satelite -- have never said something IN PRIVATE at one time or another, using the "N" word or "profanity" .. and would not want it known to the public either.  I also believe that A & E should bring back the show.  DOG's show is one of the best and he publicaly appoligized to the young lady.   I was able to watch part of the Larry King Show when Dog was on and Dog explained what had tranpired which he shouldn't have to be doing.  IT'S THE MEDIA that promotes all of this crazy racism in our country.  JMHO

Racisim

Racisim affects more than just ethnic groups.  My son is constantly bullied by a group of aftrican-american boys at school.  This worries me that my son will create his own prejudices based on these experiances despite the fact that we teach that there is no difference between races and that all people are the same.

The whole mess of todays show....

I made a comment earlier that I didn't agree with the Bishop about Imus should have been fired because it was said to his listeners.   I guess the difference of Rap music being broadcast to public is different in the sense that if you purchase that type of music, then you pretty much know what you are getting.   Listening to a sports talk show, you wouldn't be expecting it.  So in that regards, I see the Bishop's point of view.

But until it's fair across the board that absolutely no one should be using the offensive "n" word, then I don't think you can fire one person and let the others off.  I don't care what you're skin color.   Let's take the as the perfect opportunity to unite as people of the USA....not of our races.   Equal opportunity, equal rules and consequences.

Whatever

What Dog said in a private conversation is his own business. PERIOD.

All of you throwing stones, white, black, red, doesnt matter, how many of you have called someone retarded, fat, ugly, disfigured, psycho, looney, cracker, giant, tubbo, baldy, Sp*c, ETC?  Did you say it in a private conversation?  How would you like if everyone in your community knew what you said everyday in the privacy of your own home???

I think we should all think about how much hate we spew daily.  Just because its the *N* word doesnt make it any worse than any other insult.  That P*SSES me off so bad that because it offends a race, we are not to say it.  Every other kind of hate is acceptable, I guess.

If I had been Dog I wouldnt have come on the show to be questioned by 5 people who are against me, either.

Quote me, rant at me, I dont care.  There is no one in the world or on this message board that is going to tell me that one form of hate is any different from another.
