From a celebrity’s controversial meltdown caught on tape to nooses cropping up around the country, Dr. Phil and Bishop T.D. Jakes tackle tough racial issues. First up, Dog the Bounty Hunter spewed slurs in a phone conversation with his son, Tucker, and used the N-word repeatedly when referring to Tucker’s black girlfriend, Monique. Monique’s mother, Linda Shinnery, joins the Dr. Phil show via satellite and says she was appalled by Dog’s tirade. Should the reality TV star lose his job over a private conversation? Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, rapper Master P, and BET correspondent Jeff Johnson weigh in. Then, nooses, a symbol of hatred for African-Americans, are cropping up more and more across the country – from Jena, Louisiana to Columbia University in New York. Najee Ali, founder and co-director of Project Islamic Hope, shares his views on empowering the black community and combating stereotypes. Don’t miss this intense debate about racism and sensitivity in America, and find out how you can educate your children. Join the discussion.

Thus says the lord

Thus says the lord
Thus says the lord
Words are powerful as you know. Just as My father spoke what he said happen and it did and it will. Love and peace is taught just as evil, hatred and bigotry is as well.It is easier to spread love than to spread hate. We are all brothers and sisters under god the very DNA says it its self 99.9 making all of us 1 of 1/10% related on earth.Pray for the loss souls for they are doomed. The meek shall inherit the earth just as the father has said. Knowlege is powerful and understanding brings on wisdom. So the very word N_____ is the definition of an uneducated illiterate individual of a petty and bothersome nature. With that said anyone can be one and not from the pigmentation of the color of ones skin.Racism is part of evils agenda not of Gods. And to a comment that was made on the message board why all these days? Why would you say have a white day brother wouldn't it be better to have a right day. We are being attacked subconsciously by an evil power we don't even understand and we are closer than most think that we are. Pass this on checkout www.exministries.com it is a most and it is really happening. God bless peace be onto you.

Disappointed w/ the show

I have been watching Dr. Phil since he began with Oprah, and I have been watching the Dog for over two years now.  I must say that I never swore off a show because of an airing I disagreed with, but after watching Dr. Phil's show Friday; I was so upset with how he handled the situation, that I’m definitely taking a break from his show for a while.  I felt he only demeaned the Dog, for what was a PRIVATE conversation, and had no one there but only ONE SIDE; there was not one single white person on that panel. NOT One and I always felt that a psychiatrist/psychologist was to be UN-BIASED.  BUT for some reason............ IT IS OKAY.......for the entertainment world in the BLACK community to degrade their own race and the white race, to degrade the opposite sex and to degrade our laws..........AND OUR SOCIETY PAYS THEM TO DO ITTTTTTTT!!!!!  Not only do we pay them to do it, BUT THEY DO IT IN PUBLIC through their music and movies.  Did Dr. Phil talk about that??? Oh sure he did, for a FLAT 10 SECONDS. He DID NOT touch base on it for even half the time that he demoralized the Dog for!  Unbelievable, I was and still am so disappointed in that show.  You know, Imus should have been punished, he did his deed in the public, Al Sharpton, ohhh sure he is a SAINT!!! He is completely perfect, YEA RIGHT, well I will say this, let you make a comment in your own home, let you make a remark in the privacy of your own, and hope to everything you don’t lose your job, or your family or your standing in society!  I feel that Dr. Phil has taken this point to where maybe he feels we should be watched by big brother, or maybe we should be judged without any freedoms or rights whatsoever to our own privacy.  Well Dr. Phil, I am almost certain you would reply with............"they could record me 24/7 and I would have nothing to hide"........ Is that because you are completely perfect in every way????? Shame on you for judging a man that has done nothing but good for our society!  I mean, this man DID get a serial rapist off our streets!!!!!!!!!!! OR SHOULD WE FORGET THAT??? Perhaps if you are caught at something we should all forget about the goods you have done as well!  Because it happens to everyone at some point in their lives, especially those that are famous.  I am amazed at how you handled this situation and I truly felt if you were to be the one to analyze this, you would have done it in a less judgemental way.  Maybe even perhaps have mentioned that YOU DID NOT HAVE ALL THE FACTS OF THIS MANS FAMILY before YOU WERE JUDGING HIM!!!!

Oh well, I am sure my point will be lost in space somewhere, but I feel so much better knowing that it has been read if only just once.

1.) I do NOT believe any of the GUESTS were born in AFRICA and none of them act American.  The guests if they must be catagorized together are a bunch of racists against whites who do not want to work for a living thus, must scream everyone else is racist when they are more racist than any white person I have ever met.
The only thing that I want to say to this comment is that first, I love that you defended Dog and his privacy! That is what is most important here!! I agree with everything that you are saying except for what the entire nation is saying about the "N" word in general.. If you ask me, I do think that it is a negative word.. It stands for something negative.. But the big question seams to be, why is it okay if a black man says it, but not okay if a white man says it.. I dont think that is the case, I just think that it matters "who" says it, and "how."  My theory is this.. Its no different than if I called one of my friends a bitch in a joking manner.. We are friends, and she would know I was joking.. However, if someone she did not know called her a bitch, you can imagine the result.. Its no different with the "N" word regardless if its from one black to another, or from one white friend to a black friend.. Its not a good word.. but a lot of words are not good words, and they still get used. Now, "should" I be calling my friends bitches, and should other friends be calling each other Ni**ers?? Well, that is a personal preference I guess.. Or could it be called sarcasm??

Where Was Monique Shinnery?

Why isn't Monique Shinnery held accountable for her actions? Can we look into her past, record her conversations or hold her feet to the fire for not being on the show? Why was her mother there instead? Is she a small child, or a grown person, capable of trying to ruin other people's lives? Shame on this program for siding with the National Enquirer! Why wasn't the son on the show? Where were the accusors? A very one-sided program, and they wonder why Dog wouldn't appear!

Support Dog

It really gets to me about the double standard with the blacks.  Master P can use the word in a public song and redeem himself by putting out an album without  the word.  However if a white person uses the word in a private conversation that happened to become public he should lose everything.  I know where he came from and his age and that word was used back then to the people's face and was not derogatory (in some cases it was a greeting to a friend).  I know when we had our children in the late sixties I personally quit using the word as I did not want my children to be exposed to the word.  However, when my daughter was in first grade in Mississippi she came home with the word and it was from her black friend at school. I believe with time as we age and the older people die that word will mostly be gone amongst the whites, but what about the blacks (they use it more than we do).  I feel that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are the biggest racist in America (to them it is OK for blacks but not whites and that goes for more than just that word).  They tend to stir up the tension between races, not improve the relations.  Lets all go watch "Remember the Titans" and live in harmony together, no black white tensions.

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: sadiefox

DR. PHIL,

THIS IS REALLY A SAD, DEPRESSING, HORRIFYING SITUATION THAT SOMEONE WOULD EVEN THINK TO LET AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SCHOOL GIVE BIRTH CONTROL TO OUR YOUNG GIRLS 11 YEARS OLD!!! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING, THIS WOULD BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF MINORS. THIS IS IN NO WAY A SCHOOL EMPLOYEES (A NURSE OR NOT) PLACE TO GIVE ANY PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE TO OUR CHILDREN WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. I FEEL THIS WILL END UP A BIG LAW SUIT (I HOPE).THIS WOULD BE LIKE TELLING 11 YR. OLD GIRLS THAT THEY CAN HAVE SEX IF THEY WANT AND WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING PREGNANT AND THEIR PARENTS DON'T HAVE TO KNOW. KEEP IN MIND THAT AGE FOR CONSENSUAL SEX IS  DIFFERENT  DEPENDING ON THE STATE YOU LIVE IN.  I AM A CHILD OF MOLESTATION/ RAPE SURVIVOR (AFTER THINKING AND BELIEVING I WAS A VICTIM ALL OF MY LIFE.) THIS IS OPENING YOUNG WOMEN UP TO BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, USED, ABUSED AND VICTIMIZED AT 11. I PERSONALLY WAS 7 YEARS OLD AND THIS WENT ON FOR MANY YEARS. I CAN PERSONALLY SAY AT11 I WAS IN DOCTORS' OFFICES AND INTERN SPECIALISTS MORE TIMES THAN I CAN REMEMBER, BECAUSE OF WHAT HAVING SEXUAL THING DONE TO MY BODY...NO ONE KNOWING OF MY MENTAL OR PHYSICAL PAINS THAT WAS REALLY GOING THROUGH AS WELL. I JUST HAVE TO SAY THIS WOULD BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE ANYONE COULD DO, BELIEVE ME IT'S LIKE A LIFE LONG JAIL SENTENCE FOR ME JUST TO DEAL WITH IT. PLEASE LET KIDS BE KIDS AND STOP THE CONDONING OF THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR FROM ANYONE IMMEDIATELY, ESPECIALLY A SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW AND SHOULD STAY THAT WAY !!!!!!

CHRISTINA

I agree with you because people shouldnt be giving 11-15 year olds birth control.  All that does is make them want to do it.  Its really sad

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: dragonheart

Well to answer your question it was a message he left to his son on his son's answering machine. So by law tis makes it the son's message. Thus the message was legally recorded and the actual sole property of the son. So by law he can do what he wants with this message as he wants to. So unfortunate as it was and it is morally wrong for The Dog's son to have done that it was not legally wrong. Though this should of been kept to just in the family and not made out to be such a public big deal. The son could of gone about it a little bit different to try and resolve the matter between the family only.

YO! lol.. it was a two way conversation, yell fest. The recorder used was the only thing tucker had available at the time, which was an answering machine recorder . He pushed the button and hit record  while talking to his father on the phone regarding the stressful situation of tucker dating Monique.

Laws in some areas of the USA would have been broken if this tape were to be used in a court of law. This is NOT the case and Mr. Duane Chapman is probably not going to sue his own son , who he dealy loves despite what has happened.

This was a private phone call between a son and father fueding over a  a girl that Mr. Chapman did not approve of. Tucker became angry and sold out to the National Enquirer for only "15,000." a nothing to what it has done to his whole family.

Monique had nothing to do with this other than be the poor woman who was called the N word repeatedly . In a private conversation between Tucker and his father.  Monique is not a bad person here only the "victim" of the  name that will go down in celebrity history as the biggest  mistake and filth since the sixties. BUT, Chapman should be forgiven. He will probably be a good candidate to be heard as to why not you say things like that  and build  your self from the pit of your stomach back up to being able to look everyone in the eye again.

SO, here is the scoop.. Tucker made the recording from a answering machine /recorder. as he talked to his father on the phone.

Selling out your own family.

If you have used the word you can't say a word about the old Dog. There is no perfect human I know. You may say you have never used the word but, I'm sure you have! Do we have the right to judge some thing that was said in a private phone call? I'm not sure that I do! The Dog has done many good thing. He doesn't say he is perfect and he has added that he has made mistakes to. So should his show be taken off the air not sure? Dog why did you not come on the Dr Phil show? That part worries me!

I have grown up in the south and seen KKK in the sheets and they scaried me as a child. It was when the Cuban was at Fort Chaffe. They had their child dressed up to it made me mad. I asked my mom why do they do that. She said think they are better then some people. Then when the Cuban got out I seen what the KKK did. Dr. Phil is right it starts at home. When I lived in Portland I never heard the word. And that I'm back in south I hear it all the time! So will the word ever go away?????????????

Monique did not do anything wrong.

Here mother should have been there with her daughter of there was to be anything regarding her daughters name mentioned.

There was no siding with the National Enquirer.

Dog, Tucker Monique nor any of Dogs family chose to come to this.

However Dr. Phil talked about all this on Larry King live the night before and that was an enlightening show regarding Mr.. Chapman and I admire Mr. Chapman.

I don't know as to why DR. Phil's production folks chose who they did either for this? I would NOT have asked Monique's mom without Monique, as this will cause trouble with that issue for sure.

I can guess why as to the Chapman's not coming.

I would not be in the same room with Sharpton or Jackson as they are both a serious problem now in the movement of equality . The other gentlemen were great, but than they really should have had  Mr.. Chapman's pastor there too. Duane is of simple folk and came from a horrible background  in Denver area. I know the Denver area and some of it is .. well... I rather live in parts of  He- l. I know that this will take a long road of recovery and probably education on Mr. Chapman's part, but, I believe he can do it with a load of patience . He has brought himself up through some heavy things in his life and made it. That is a miracle all in itself. He is a self made man and he has his own company which he has made sure is his families.  he is a good man , he works hard.

11/09 Debate Dr. Phil and the Bishop

Quote From: cocowgirl1959

I was very shocked ,while watching Friday's show, when I heard Dr.Phil something that didn't sit well with me. Here he is talking about racism and what comes out of his mouth?? He makes a comment about teen girls "getting pregnant 2 years from now, being on welfare, a child strapped to each leg, no future what so ever, and living in a trailor somewhere!" Does this mean that every person who lives in a trailor is lumped into this category. Why a trailor? Why not a no-tell motel? Or an apt.? I have known people that live in trailors and they are wonderful people. This sounds like Dr.Phil thinks that living in a trailor is a bad thing!!!!!!!!! Sounds like that phrase " TRAILOR TRASH." That is a type of racism as far as I'm concerned!

After I heard Dr. Phils' durogatory comments about teenage pregnancy and trailer living I sat there with my mouth hanging open.

My mother lived in a trailer community for years, after retiring, and she was very happy in that lifestyle. She was alone, on a fixed income, and wanted to live independently in what she could afford. She also felt completely secure in her surroundings because everyone looked out for one another.

I have two daughters, each left with two babies to raise, (not as teenagers, but as young women) and they have been incredibly strong and responsible in raising their children. Unfortunately, their relationships did not work out for them, but no one can fault them for not trying to keep their families together.

I was disappointed in Dr. Phils' grandstanding and lack of humility on this particular show.
