(Original Air Date: 11/15/07) Dr. Phil continues the story of a young woman who made international headlines when she ran away to Palestine to be with a man she met on the Internet when she was just 16. Katherine was stopped by the FBI and brought back home, but two years later and now an adult, she’s left the United States again to be with Abdullah, the man she says she loves and wants to marry. Katherine’s terrified family thinks she is being brainwashed, and may never be allowed to return home. They say they’ve witnessed Abdullah’s violent temper when he’s verbally abused her over the phone. Now, in an exclusive interview via satellite, Dr. Phil speaks with Katherine and Abdullah together. Is Abdullah lying about letting Katherine return home? Is this couple already married? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

11/15 A Daughter in Danger? Part 2

Quote From: jdk155

Dr. Phil,

You keep mention that the daughter went to Palestine country, but there is not offical country called Palestine. The west bank Jericho is in Israel, and before belong to Jordan.

The local Palestinian like to refer to their area as Palestine country.

I was born in Israel and living in the US now.

From my knowledge of the Palestinian people, her boyfriend will convert her to Muslin and force her to cover her face, and have his children and do all the house work and caring for the children, and restict her from any outside contact. He will mistreat her and physical abuse her. As Muslin in case of divorce the father take the children, and that what keep the woman staying.

Right now he is lie to her until he marry her, and than he will show his true face.

Unless someone save her, she will be too afraid to do anything.

Save her, as she have very dark future.

Julia

How biased are you? I'm sorry but he is Palestinian, living in the Palestinian territory, therefore we call that Palestine. If he were living along the Mediterreanean or in Tel Aviv we'd call that Israel. And how can you generalize all Muslims as the same? As if just because he is Muslim automatically he will convert her... Are you kidding?! You are Jewish, don't you think it is bigotted when people generalize all Jews? I think it is, and I think you'd agree. Generalizing all Muslims as the same is no different. I can't believe what people are saying on here, ya salaam! This show is about a young girl and guy who met on the internet, somehow people turned that into a debate about Israel and Palestine! Craziness....

Ummm. NO they dont!

GO read some Islamic message boards and talk with muslims. You need to be educated in facts and not fiction.

turntoislan and ummah.com

I am Muslim, I need to be educated! LMAO People DO date, some conservative Muslims disagree and would prefer it not be done but it happens all the time. I dated while I was living in Egypt. and ended up marrying the man I was dating. Many people do the same. Are you really going to argue with me about my own religion?

11/15 A Daughter in Danger? Part 2

Quote From: zotolly

I converted 3 years before I met my DH. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Have you ever been to these countries? I have been to Pakistan and Saudi for Ramadan.

You can be appalled all you want; its the truth. Go visit Pakistan or Saudi and flirt with a man; then come back and tell us what happened!

You need to grow up little girl! I HAVE traveled the world. Have you.

Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Pakistan are all exceptions. Are you going to ignore other countries that are much different. I'm not going to debate with you where I have been, though I have been to 6 Middle Eastern countries and am Muslim myself. You converted a couple years ago and somehow know the religion and culture better than me, lol, okay. Sure there are places that are less progressive than others, no one is denying that. But generalizing the entire area and people as the same is nothing less than ignorent.

this girl is in danger

This girl is in so much danger and seems totally oblivious to how bad her situation really is.  I'm a westerner living in the Middle East married to a local man.  She doesn't even begin to know what she is in for.  Her boyfriend's family already consider her a slut.  The disrespect they have shown her family by flying her over there is hard for an American to grasp.  In the Middle East the honor vs.shame concept is so deep that a Jordanian father would literally kill his daughter for seeing a guy in the same town, and she wouldn't have permission to go anywhere alone.  To have actually brought a girl over, unchaperoned, makes her unclean in their eyes already, and her agreeing to it, makes her character completeley vile to them.  That is why they would have no reason to consider her needs, feelings, or safety in any way.  They will use her for whatever sinister purpose they have and then drop her.

By the way, she is totally wrong to think they can't marry because she's not Muslim. Muslim men can marry anyone they want and the children become their property.  She may already be married and not know it.  If they have her passport and bring two male witnesses to register the marriage, she doesn't even need to be present.  If she does get pregnant, those kids won't be hers, and Abdallah can use them to get to America.  I'm sure there are reasons why he hasn't applied for a visa yet.  Maybe he or someone in his family is blacklisted for terror.

Whatever the reason, this girl has got to get out of there as soon as possible.

Wow, yet another biased post full of generalizations. I just want to make one point... you say, "She may be married already and not even know it" which is nearly impossible. In Islam both the man and the woman must sign a contract and resite certain words before so. Also in order for that marriage to be acknowledged by the U.S. they must present their contract and sign more papers at the American Embassy. I truly doubt there would be a way she could be married and not know it.

Daughter In Danger

I had posted a question earlier on this topic about when the conclusion to this show will air. For anyone interested, I found an article that stated the conclusion will be aired in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to see the conclusion. From what I saw at the end of the Dr. Phil show this morning, I doubt Katherine has any desire to return to Middle East. I am so glad for her and her family that she came home. I just hope she came home to stay!
