(Original Air Date: 11/15/07) Dr. Phil continues the story of a young woman who made international headlines when she ran away to Palestine to be with a man she met on the Internet when she was just 16. Katherine was stopped by the FBI and brought back home, but two years later and now an adult, she’s left the United States again to be with Abdullah, the man she says she loves and wants to marry. Katherine’s terrified family thinks she is being brainwashed, and may never be allowed to return home. They say they’ve witnessed Abdullah’s violent temper when he’s verbally abused her over the phone. Now, in an exclusive interview via satellite, Dr. Phil speaks with Katherine and Abdullah together. Is Abdullah lying about letting Katherine return home? Is this couple already married? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

11/15 A Daughter in Danger? Part 2

Quote From: ummsamir

Have you ever MET a Muslim woman?? An Arabic Woman? Do you have ANY idea what goes on in a Arab or Muslim house hold?

I am in complete awe of how much people actually play into and believe in stereotypes - it is absolutely ridiculous. I encourage you to go out and when you see a veiled woman, say 'Hello', maybe even smile. Maybe, you should go and visti even online Muslimah chat rooms/forums and get the real deal. I will tell you you opinion will be completely different than it is now.

To be quite honest though, your opinions are overtly racist and are full of slander. you are entitled to your opinion as an AMERICAN WOMAN, but as such, you have the means, time and resources available to you so that you can come to an INFORMED decision. If I can tell you one thing, is that the news reports on what makes money, so don't be 'brainwashed' into thinking what the news tell you to think...

Can we agree that the word "muslim" is NOT describing a race but in fact a religious choice?

Why do you keep accusing people of racism?

Daughter in Danger

Quote From: shelly_80

I TOTALLY AGREE!  You know, considering that most American women practice "their right" to fight back, it shocks me that an arab man would ever want one.  They think women are to be completely submissive and not say a word.   On the other hand, it may not have anything to do with being American or not.  They may just seek the ones that are easily minipulated into being brain washed.  It is very clear that Katherine is one of those women.   I don't believe FOR A SECOND that he's with her to get his greencard!  If he were, he wouldn't have taken two years.  I strictly think he wanted a young, naive girl he could abuse, like the rest.  I also believe once he got her to Palistine or wherever, he thought he had the "cat in the bag" until Dr. Phil stepped in.  I may take a lot of smack for this one from a lot arabs/muslims and those married to them but it's my "rightful" opinion as an AMERICAN WOMAN.

Thank you for your opinion, I saw that you did get a lot said about you, and I really don't think your a racist. Its alot nicer then what my family had said about this when they watched the show, one memeber stated "Of course this isn't a shock they hate americans, now he has his own little american he can beat on" I don't think it goes that far personally. I think its really just how they are, violence in the home is more for keeping the woman in line and that turns my stomach. My heart breaks when I hear the news stories about a young woman getting 200 lashings cause she was raped by 7 men and was out of the company of her male family members. REALLY HOW WAS THAT HER FAULT AT ALL? What anger men and I have seen this in the news and on the documentrys more then once, almost every time is they feel that men have no control over there sex drive and its satan and women to blame for it. Sorry If I seem hatful I'm not really I just do get angry at this, no one should suffer like this, I do wish we lived in a peacful world I really do. I don't get angry at many other religions, only the ones that like to use there religion as to why they are a bad person and how its not really there fault. As a christian I would never blame my religions, God or satan  for bad acts I do. Sorry I bored long enough. I really do hope everyone has a great day.

I don't understand - where does this 'brainwashing' sentiment come from? I think about 80% of the posts have had this phrase in it. What exactly does that mean? How can he brainwash her? My becoming Muslim? Come on, are you serious???

Well what [in my opinion] it means by brainwashed is this man has talked this guliable girl into believing she is loved and appriciated by him, which I know for a fact is not the case.

If this guy had any backbone, he would have NEVER told/asked her to come to his country against her parents wishes, also keeping the fact in mind that she is underage.

But to all you people who said "Oh he was talking weird because he had an accent" or whatever, well no duh, but when her mother and Dr.Phil were talking to him, he was rolling his eyes and acting like a child who had just gotten out of a time out. Get real. No one is going to believe someone who acts like that. But on this note, who remembers when Dr.Phil wanted to talk to her alone and told him to leave the room in the last episode? But he ended up not leaving to 'spy' on the conversation? Doesn't ANYONE find that a tad suspicious?

And now comes the so called 'racist' part: to my knowledge, isn't it muslim customs to kill anyone who is not muslim? I'm not saying that anyone who is muslim is a crazy murderer or something, but if this man's parents happened to find out about her being a non-muslim, don't you think there is a slight possibility that the parents DO kill non-muslims? Just a thought.

Oh yes, and anyone who thinks calling their spouse horrible names and hitting them is supposed to be 'normal', please get a reality check.

We are not talking about all those nice people who are Muslim and/or Arabic.  We are talking about the lunatic boyfriend that Katherine is living with.   There IS something wrong with him.  That is what we are talking about.

And somebody mentioned earlier that the majority of the terrorists that we hear about are from those areas. Those areas that have different standards of conduct than the majority of towns here in the west.  That's all.  Basically, there isn't a whole lot of beheading going on here in the States, but it seems to most of us over here that beheadings and the like happen relatively frequently over in the Middle East.  That's all I'm saying.  It seems that where Katherine is, there is a greater chance that she could get harmed than in most other places.

I'm

I just wanted to mention that I am in the Army and I have many friends who have spent much time in Arab countries.  Everyone of them has told me stories about how warm and friendly the people are there.  They don't show that on the news.  A lot of the Soldiers over there have good times and really enjoy meeting and getting to know the children and families in Iraq, Kwuait and Afganistan and many other countries.  There are LOTS of good people there.

But they have roadside bombings over there, we don't have that stuff here.  Sure it could happen here, but it certainly doesn't seem to be happening here as often as it does in the Middle East.

Plus, again that boyfriend of hers is no prize and it's defenetly not worth possibly getting blown up on her way to the grocery store for  a life with him.

11/15 A Daughter in Danger? Part 2

Quote From: skibunny32

Oh please she's more in danger of meeting some pedofile in this country. Americans are so melodramatic. Ohhhhhh woooow she's in the middle east. It's safer to be in the middle east right now running around nakid than it is to walk alone in any city in the united states. Turn on the news lately?? It's so funny how americans think the rest of the big bad world is soo dangerous forgetting this country is the number ONE in crime in the WORLD. No other developed country comes even close.

Where is the father in this situation? Oh once again...single mothers raising their kids and not having a clue as to what they are doing nor caring. Now she wants to blame OTHERS for what her lack of parenting has resulted in. Ya good luck lady. Your daughter is NEVER coming back.

talk about melodramatic....it's all the moms fault for being a single mother....totally.

Well, allow me the AMERICAN WOMEN you say is such a racist, to clue you in on "brainwashing."

The definition of brainwash is:  A FORCIBLE indoctrination to induce someone to give up basic, political, social, or religious beliefs and attitude to accept contrasting regimented ideas.

Oh, I'm sorry too many BIG words?  I will translate it into lame-mans terms.  It is when someone manipulates another person into believing what they want them to believe.

11/15 A Daughter in Danger? Part 2

Quote From: ummsamir

I am also a convert and was absolutely outraged at the comment as well - I have nothing to add to your comment except that as a convert myself, that simple fact that thq Quran was not changed even one SINGLE accent since the time of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) was so unique and beautiful.

To the original poster - Where people get off changing the Bible and Torahs I have no idea. Why would you change something that was sent by God in your own belief? What, God messed up and you want to be more catered towards? Come on, we all know that isn't sensical.

Even in Hadith, there is a very strict 'coding' system where scholars of hadith basically look at each person the narration was related by (chain of narrators) and categorize it from 'Weak' to 'Sahih/Perfect' Only the strong ones are actually used for rulings in law. Why would Muslims take what has been perfected by God and change it? Just so we can get some pork or have some alcohol? Or maybe it would be so we can have pre-marital sex (Which BTW, last I checked, is till unlawful in Christian theology as well) - Uh, NO! Muslims chose to cater towards God, after all, He created us. Our parents have rights over us, so do our spouses and friends and children, does God not have rights over us? Thnk about it. What is praying 5 times a day? What harm does THAT do? Considering He is the creator, I thinkI can take out 20 minutes of my day and pray. i don't think it is much....

Funny thing is, Dr. Phil never once mentioned ANYTHING about the fact he is Muslim - it was you, the viewers who have shown your bigotry on this board and made this an anti-Muslim conversation. It is sad that Americans have every resource in the world and pride themselves on their level of understanding, acceptance and eduation about other cultures, yet you chose to remain ignorant of the #2 largest religion in the world. You allow big corporatioins and news casts to tell you about the world around you. It truely is a shame.

Well see, that's the beauty of being a "viewer," we get say what we feel.  Dr. Phil, on the other hand, has to be politically correct so as to not offend his guests and viewers.
