Dr. Phil follows up with a family terrified for the safety of their loved one, Katherine, a young woman who flew to the Middle East to be with Abdullah, whom she met online. When she last spoke with Dr. Phil, Katherine promised that she would return to the United States within two days, but immediately after the show, she changed her mind. Find out what happened during two failed attempts to get Katherine home, and what finally got her on a plane. Then, Katherine’s mother, Shawn, and sister, Mary, say they were overwhelmingly relieved to have her back safe, so why didn’t they greet her at the airport? Katherine joins her family onstage and offers her tearful apologies. After hearing how her actions have affected her family and Dr. Phil’s staff, will Katherine go back to Abdullah, or will she have a change of heart? Join the discussion.

Lets focus on the REAL issue here!!!

Ok people! We can fight all we want about what is going on in other countries- but the focus should be on the fact that this young girl was not only getting verbally abused, but also getting physically abused. When you looked in Katherines' eyes on the shows before all you saw was this numb look in her eyes. You could see something wasn't right. But on yesterdays show- you could see real emotions from her. Thank God she is home! We do have to remember that every country feels that certain ways of treating women are ok- such as name calling, etc. But in America it is NOT ok to go around calling the girl you "love" a slut, whore, bitch, etc. Katherine really needs to get some help finding her life again and hopefully she can move on with her life and not have to worry about the guy from around the world! Can we please focus on Katherine and her family and not on the crap that doesn't really matter!

Just glad to see that Katherine is ok and hopefully this has hit many homes and causes many parents to be extra nosey and keep open communication with there children.

I completely understand what you are saying, but if you have ever had a teenage daughter of your own, especially 16 to 18 years old, there is virtually NOTHING that you can do to change their minds once they have made a decision. At that age they truly believe that they are right about everything and no one can tell them what to do. It is called the “ME GENERATION”. And “the more thou doth protest” the more teenagers rebel JUST TO SHOW YOU THAT THEY CAN.

I also agree she shouldn’t “get too comfy – because you are probably right. IF Abdullah ever does get out of Gaza he will probably come looking for her and try to carry out some of the threats he has already asserted against her and her family, but I truly believe that is a long time away. I will be many, many years before Abdullah will be able to get a VISA, if ever, to come to the United States and especially be allowed to leave Gaza, and IF he should be able to obtain a VISA in the future, I am hoping by that time that there will be stricter laws enforced regarding Hamas entering the United States. So Katherine does need to be vigilant about not just Abdullah, but any boy she meets, as it seems she is developing a pattern of very bad choices when it comes to men. That is her responsibility and no one, including her family members, will be able to stop her from making bad judgment choices until it is too late.

I, also, am very glad to see Katherine is OK and home safe and sound in the loving arms of her family.

Once you get death penalty for killing American innocence you have been striped of citizenship and you not American to me any more.

I know that everyone is all Adullah this and Abdulla that. I just wanted to say that I am glad that Katherine is back here inthe USA. Whatever happened over there happened...and there is no taking it back. We as a nation, should be rejoicing that one of our own has come home...safely. Katherine..if you are reading this...you are my hero. We all make mistakes, but only the smart ones learn from it. You are very strong and your family should be happy knowing you are an inspiration to lots of people...yound and old....girls and boys....men and women.

Note for Katherine if she's reading all this

Katherine, if you are reading and keeping up with these posts I would like to tell you that I am very glad to see that you are home. When I was 18, I also took off to be with a man in the Tenderloin of San Francisco, not exactly the Gaza strip eh? But dangerous enough in it's own right for a small town girl :). You remind me a lot of myself and I just want to support you in your decision to break it off.

Anyhow, I'm so glad you're back. I've got 10 years on you now. If I could know then what I know now I could avoid a lot of problems! Things can change a lot in 10 years and it goes by faster then you can imagine. First you can't wait to be 16, then 18, then 21.... and then pretty soon you're dragging your feet towards 30 with major adult responsibilities.

If you had told me at 18 that I'd be what I am today I could've never imagined. Please, find something you can be somewhat passionate about. You are a very beautiful girl and anyone who can skip the country twice and safely escape a manipulative man doing everything to stop you is strong and smart. Please use those attributes to bring your dreams alive for yourself. You are very independent so earn your independence and make your way in this world for yourself. First, come up with a dream, and not a destructive one. It can be big but must be positive and realizeable. Then, set a rough timeline for that dream and break it into smaller and smaller steps. Here's the tricky part :), commit to the dream, and take the first small step, and after that step, take the next step. My dreams were fairly modest and maybe not exactly what I'd hoped for in the end. But, I realized them and I know you can realize yours too. If any step along the way seems like too much, that just means you need to break the step into several smaller steps.Choose healthy relationships and you'll stop being a psycho magnet! You don't need a relationship, hold out for the one you *want* to be with, don't settle for the one you *need* to be with.

Well, now I look like the psycho, but welcome home :) hope you read this if it gets approved

Thank you, Dr. Phil, for helping Catherine and her family find peace and each other again. But, I also want to thank Catherine for showing young woman that it is not ok to be treated the way she was treated, and if they can seek support, they can get free. It is a life lesson that she will never forget. You go girl!
